you know what, #17 is good enough with me for Erykah Badu. I expected worse anyways since R&B almost always gets shafted early in rankdowns. Erykah is just such a cool artist though, definitely one of my favorite r&b artists.

This was in my top 20 before a re-listen of something originally in my bottom 10 forced me to take something out of my top 20 to make room to move that song up :'(

Penitentiary Philosophy absolutely blew me away on first listen. I didn't expect it to make it super high but I still wish it could've gone further

I like how "One Life Stand" is in this rankdown, despite being the title track of a 2010 album, because it snuck into 2009 as a single by a month Believe it or not, I didn't post this with the intent of getting the rest of you to rank the song high  |

#21: Did we ever rank "Time is Now" anywhere? Because, unless it was in a stacked rankdown, I'm not sure how that could have performed poorly or underperformed. This is just another really good RóisÃn song, as I would expect. Indeed we did, and it placed lower than Dear Miami did. Well, that's blasphemous. {NOW I HAVE TO RECOVER FROM THAT WITH A WORD WALL}#20: I only know one other song from Ladyhawke, and I definitely have nostalgia for it, because video games, but this might be the better song.
#19: I thought there was a very decent chance this was making the top ten, and, ngl, I'm a little shocked it's not there. There's just nothing inherently wrong with it, it's a solidly performed instrumental. I wish I got into it more.
#18: Like with YYY, I don't think that I need to see the reveal to know what this is, based on the movements. Unlike with YYY, I thought this would also have trouble escaping the bottom ten. I probably like a couple of songs from MMJ slightly more, but this is very likely their best song, an eight minute song that feels half as long. This was also going to be in a prospective RD for me, and now you have me scrambling to replace it
#17: Send me, R&B queen.
#16: A few years ago, this probably would have been in my bottom five or lower. I have you guys to blame for getting me more into dance music.
#15: Probably the song I was rooting for the most, despite it barely being in my top ten. It also should have been the highest rap song.
#14: Pleasantly surprised this isn't top ten. Obviously, I liked this quite a bit, but it's no "Munich".
#13: If Blackalicious couldn't have been the highest rap song, this definitely should have been. Such a cool-sounding instrumental.
#12: Honestly, as someone who hasn't really gotten into Hot Chip all that much, this might have been the best song I've heard from them.
#11: Up there with "L.E.S. Artistes", and that's saying a lot. Given how I'm one of just three participants that doesn't have a top two song still in the hunt, I really could be doing a lot worse. |

The Six Days remix might be DJ Shadow's most popular song (according to Spotify) but certainly not my favorite from him. |
