Any rumblings of any Carrie-related music projects this year? No ACM performance I'm guessing since no noms. Doubt she will even attend. She's probably reached the career phase where CMA/ACM nominations and wins are a thing of the past, unless something like the Cody Johnson duet resonates. Just hope we continue to get music from her.

When asked about new music a few months ago, the first thing she said was "I love collaborating with other artists" before going into her usual "I'm always working on something" spiel, so at least 1 collaboration. I was hopeful that because of what she said it would be more than 1, but the fact they're still pushing OOTT is making me worried we're still at least 3 months away from anything new, and it might only be the Cody duet.

Broken record, but I'm needing a fully-committed 90s sounding country album AND a 90s (give or take a few years) country covers album from her at some point. Her voice is made for it.

A 90s sounding country album would totally put her back on the radar with the general public.

A 90s sounding country album would totally put her back on the radar with the general public. Her duet with Cody smashes like IIDLY did, and she chooses a FANTASTIC lead to a 90s sounding album. The second wind of Carrie Underwood commences, and the industry is reminded of her power. I see the vision, and I hope it materializes.

I am hoping that she ditches David. She needs a new producer. I've listened to D&R over and over, hoping it'll stick, but it just all sounds the same. Over-produced, no real instrumentation, and just no... life.

I love each era and the different things she’s been able to achieve with each producer. Though I do think artists need to switch things up every once in a while to keep things fresh. The worst thing for an artist to be is “safe,” which I don’t think Carrie is being of course.
I’ve been thinking more and more about the state of things and I really feel her team needs to work on the marketing in this next era. It feels like they’re still giving us 2000s-2010s era rollouts. I think streaming should be a strong focus. I know in Denim & Rhinestones the focus seemed to be touring but I want Carrie to have an impact on younger generations!
Maybe another disconnect is a lack of relatability as her personal life seems so well structured and lovely which doesn’t make for the most exciting personal material so she explores these story songs where she plays a character. I just feel like the youth of today love their confessional, moody, raw music and relatability of the artist. Carrie has a family and really separates her two lives where other artists show this deep exploration of their inner minds and turbulent relationships often these days. Not sure, just some thoughts I’ve had as of late.
Idk, sorry for the ramble yall, just some thoughts I’ve had lately.

I do think Carrie is being safe. Too safe. What was risky for her in 2011-2012 with the Blown Away era isn't going to cut it anymore. Cry Pretty was a step in the right direction for her as far as getting more personal with her music. My Gift and My Savior did give us this as well. But D&R was made with the focus of being a good touring album, which...outside of a few tracks, did it even do that the way they intended? Give any D&R song to someone like Miranda Lambert and no one would blink an eye. Give a song like Jesus Take the Wheel, Blown Away, even All-American Girl to Miranda and it would sound odd.

Has she always done Opry this often? I know she performs on it every year but it seems she's already done so many performances there this year.

Don’t hold me to it but I’m pretty sure she does at LEAST six to eight shows a year, especially on her off years. Speaking of off years, our festival era continues:

She makes it a point to meet their requirements for membership annually, something too few big name artist-members actually do. I don’t know the actual threshold of shows artists are supposed to meet, but I know there is one…. I don’t think The Opry lets go of anyone for not meeting it, but it’s part of what they expect from their members. Anyway, yes, Carrie probably does an average of 5-10 appearances annually, always doing two segments/shows per night.

The article says that historically it was 10 shows a year but is now thought to be laxed down to just 5, with emphasis on weekend and summer shows.

Ugh. Miranda Lambert getting that delicious new label deal with Republic Records and radio promo from Big Loud making me want Carrie to switch from that sleepy label that's been attempting to promote her.

I mean, Republic is just getting into the country world...they're not equipped to handle radio promotion, like Big Loud is. I think that it was always suggested that Big Loud was going to be involved.

MirLam’s with Republic in partnership with Big Loud, who will be doing her country radio promo from here on out. I’m pretty sure that the way that UMG re-configured their labels this year is that there are now two flagship labels (Republic and CU’s Capitol) and artists are signed to those two main labels, and their albums will be released under those labels (so for instance ML9 isn’t going to be a Big Loud release, but rather a Republic release) but any actual radio promotion will be handled in partnership with imprint labels, like Big Loud will be for Miranda.

I think that it was always suggested that Big Loud was going to be involved. She’s literally getting the best of both worlds. Signed to the biggest label in the world, and probably will get a decent budget, but they have no country radio team, so that’s where her partnership with Big Loud comes it. And Big Loud had a great radio promo team (see them being able to revive Jake Owen career for an extra 5 #1 hits, after it seemed like his radio days were over.

Now with OOTT done at radio kind of wondering what’s next. Doesn’t seem like anything but performances and supposedly a duet with Cody Johnson. Idk seems like nothing major is going on and I am just sitting here waiting for something to happen lol

I think it’s pretty clear that Carrie is embracing some down time, and since her 2024 is scheduled out for Vegas and festivals, I think 2025 is when we can expect something new.
If the Cody Johnson duet is happening, I could see that coming later this year - BUT since the cat is out of the bag, it wouldn’t surprise me if the song is relegated to an album track, if it sees the light of day at all.
Spring 2025, timed around her 20th Idol Anniversary would be my guess as to when we’ll see Carrie actively putting out music and doing all the things that go along with it. My hope would be that they really embrace the 20th, with some nostalgic aspects to whatever they have planned. Idols from the early days are seeing career renaissances left and right, hoping Carrie’s turn is soon!

^ Yeah but this might just be my personal opinion. Hasn’t Carrie been experiencing “down time” since tour wrapped over a year ago.
I’m just a little frustrated with her and her team tbh. It felt like even she lost interest with this era. OOTT was the best single selected on the entire record and her and the label put forth minimal effort to try to help it. It basically had to reach its peak at 17 with zero help from her or the label. Probably could’ve went top 10 or even top 5 if they tried. But yeah it already feels like she’s been MIA for over a year, minus Vegas (which interest me zeroly anymore), not looking forward to at least another year of silence from her, minus her Cody duet.
On a side note, I really am curious when her next solo music comes out. Like I said she really seemed uninterested in her music career as of late; I have a bad feeling that it could be longer than expected until she returns. I like to hope we start a new era with a lead single in spring of 2025, but I’m really worried it might not be until 2026 or even later.

Can someone explain this Cody Johnson situation? I feel like the discussion of this song's existence has been going on for over a year at this point. I see according to Wikipedia that his album released last November will have a deluxe component released at some point with an additional 12 songs. That was nearly 6 months ago and I feel like the trend as of late is to release the deluxe versions fairly soon after the initial release. Not sure if that differs in the country world as I don't follow it as much.
But the bigger point I'm trying to make is that I feel like I've read posts about this for God knows how long as if it's going to be some kind of assured hit or some kind of career-assisting song. OOTT did pretty well for an era that was so poorly mismanaged from the get go. This guy has been releasing music for nearly two decades and only has two #1 songs on Country (and the only two that went top 10). His last album only hit #5 on Country chart (#18 overall). So... what's the deal here? Does he do huge touring numbers? Big online fanbase?
I'm not trying to be snarky, just truly trying to make sense of the situation.

Yeah he mentioned that his album Leather was a two part album, and was on record over the past two or so months saying that part 2 happens in the fall. He just let the cat out of the bag too early last year, he always said it was all about Carrie’s timing, and I think the only reason we didn’t get it on the initial track list is because her team wanted to push OOTT. And a duet with Carrie Underwood isn’t something you just let linger around as an album track before releasing, it’s more something where it gets released and goes to radio immediately. As for his impact, he is very well respected in the industry and has a very solid following. He’s been releasing music for a while, but he was an independent artist for the longest, and didn’t sign a record deal till like 2018. But to show his following. His last two independently released albums peaked at like 33 and 11 on the all genre 200 chart. Which is a pretty big feat with no label behind you.

I'm assuming Cody's album release strategy is going to be somewhat like what Jason Aldean did with his last album(s). Jason released "Macon" in Nov. '21 and "Georgia" in Apr. '22 to make a complete collection of "Macon, Georgia". It's really 2 separate albums but they play it off as one collection of songs. That's what I'm thinking Cody's situation is going to be. In Cody's case, he may have been planning a release of the 2nd album sometime this spring/summer but then "Dirt Cheap" blew up unexpectedly and was essentially forced into being a single so maybe they put off "part 2" until after DC peaks. Or maybe DC (or another song) was planned as a second single from this half of the project all along and we won't get the next set of songs until this fall/winter. "Cheap" is flying up the charts though and is almost top 20 already so it'll peak by the end of summer and we could finally get the Carrie duet in a few more months. But we'll see. The duet was confirmed by Cody in some interview (maybe an award show red carpet? I don't remember) when someone asked about new music. I think we deduced that he spoiled the news about the Carrie duet so maybe it got pushed to the 2nd album to hopefully make people forget and build hype back up for it? Who knows. It may not ever be a single, but having a big feature on a record and not releasing at as a single would certainly be strange for an artist of Cody's level of fame, especially if the song is good enough for it to be one he talked about when someone asked him about his upcoming music and that was the song that came to mind. Hopefully we'll get it soon, but my guess is the best case is that we get it in August/September as the lead from Cody's 2nd album that's part of his current project. I don't think many people are necessarily excited for the song because it's a duet with Cody, but more so that it would be something new from Carrie. However, Cody is one of the most hyped "newcomers" on the mainstream country music scene. Cody was big for years and years on the Texas scene before being pushed to mainstream country radio. So he's got a big Texas following and has been a big nominee at some of the country award shows (nominated for Entertainer of the Year at the upcoming ACM awards). So there's industry backing for sure. The Cody duet honestly could be a great way for Carrie to get another big hit, which she hasn't had since the Jason Aldean duet. So I think some fans are excited about it from that angle as well.

Am I the only one who wants Carrie to do something totally out of left field? The Sound of Music Live! was a decade ago...was that the last time she did something truly out of the box? I'd be okay with waiting on a new album but I want her to do SOMETHING between now and then. My Gift/My Savior were passion projects but weren't totally unexpected.
A classic country album? A duets album? A Broadway album? A film soundtrack? A book? (not about health and wellness)
