Am I the only one who wants Carrie to do something totally out of left field? The Sound of Music Live! was a decade ago...was that the last time she did something truly out of the box? I'd be okay with waiting on a new album but I want her to do SOMETHING between now and then. My Gift/My Savior were passion projects but weren't totally unexpected. A classic country album? A duets album? A Broadway album? A film soundtrack? A book? (not about health and wellness) To be honest, aside from landing the voice acting/singing role for a Disney princess, I'd rather her focus on country music. She’s got such a perfect voice for Country music and as a day-one fan, I really wish she would focus on making albums that revisit her roots and explore other decades of the genre more. She's already grown into an exceptional performer, I’d just love to see her to push herself with her music (concept albums, different themes, duets, new co-writers, producers, etc)

A duets album? A Broadway album? A film soundtrack? A book? (not about health and wellness) Not sure I'd consider a classic country album or a duets album would be out of left field for her, but I'd be excited about either of those. I would assume a classic country album would likely be a bunch of covers (a la Martina's "Timeless" album) so I'm less excited for that than I would be about a duets album (a la Reba's "Duets"). I think there's more commercial viability in a duets album as well. The others I would consider out of left field for sure, but as some have mentioned here lately, I feel like Carrie has just put her career on cruise control and is putting in so little effort on anything these days. So I'm not sure we'll get anything other than some other "passion project albums" throughout the remainder of her career, unless something changes for her. I'm hoping she takes some time off to take a break and do the things she's seemingly wanting to put more time into lately (her boys, her garden, etc.) and come back swinging with new music (and enthusiasm from her and her team to promote it) when the music is ready. I think she has more life to her career before being moved to "legacy act" status, but only if she and her team treat this next era right. So I'd rather have her take her time and come back when she (and the music) are ready.

Excellent choices 👍🏽 Hopefully it’s a bunch of deep cuts. This would be a vocally challenging set but I’d go: SH: Lessons Learned / That’s Where It Is CR: Just A Dream / I Know You Won’t PO: Unapologize / What Can I Say? BA: Good In Goodbye / Wine After Whiskey ST: Chaser / Relapse CP: Cry Pretty / Low DR: Give Her That / Damage

I cannot with some of y'all picking songs she still performs regularly. This is the time to dust off some of the forgotten deep cuts, not hear Cry Pretty again for the thousandth time LOL
Anywaysss these are my picks.
Some Hearts -Starts with Goodbye -That's where it is
Carnival Ride -So Small -You Won't Find This
Play On -This Time -Play On (I actually don't think she's ever performed this live)
Blown Away -Do you think about me -Wine after Whiskey
Storyteller -Chaser -What I never knew I always wanted
Cry Pretty -Low -Kingdom
Denim & Rhinestones -Give Her That -Damage

I’ve also never got to see performances from the CP era so I’d love to experience CP live. But don’t worry, I’m not a fc member 😅

I voted for ALL deep cuts except for “Cry Pretty” because it always leaves me gagged live. Don’t make me out to be a loser voting for her usual Opry set!!

There are certain songs I always want to hear whether she does them all the time or not. Those for me are “Wasted” and “Cry Pretty”…
I included “Just A Dream” because it’s in my all-time top 5 Carrie songs, and in full it’s been maybe a decade since she’s performed it.

It should be a requirement to keep your Carrie stan card that you each person must record and post at least one of the songs performed

I will forever stand by the idea that The Night Before (Life Goes On) is one of the best songs in Carrie’s catalogue. If I could hear that with her now seasoned vocals….i wouldn’t need a will.

Some Hearts: Starts with Goodbye & Night Before (Life Goes On)
Carnival Ride: You Won't Find This & Get Out of This Town
Play On: Someday When I Stop Loving You & What Can I Say? (though I think I'd actually vote for Quitter, for the purposes of the FCP, just because a) no Sons of Sylvia, and b) I'm picking a lot of slower songs so a mid-tempo might be nice)
Blown Away: Do You Think About Me & Wine After Whiskey
Storyteller: Relapse & Chaser
Cry Pretty: The Song That We Used to Make Love To & Low
Denim & Rhinestones: Damage & Drunk and Hungover or Give Her That

Love all this Starts With Goodbye love in here. I was so insistent that was the biggest crossover hit back during the SH era. I still sometimes wonder what her trajectory out of just country would’ve looked like with that as the next single after BHC momentum.

The "pop" songs on SH (the title track, Lessons Learned, Starts with Goodbye, I Just Can't Live a Lie, That's Where It Is, Whenever You Remember and I guess Inside Your Heaven) all slap and I want a full album in that vein from her someday.

Carrie was on CBS News Sunday as part of their Randy Travis segment, she’s one of the artists who got an early listen to his new song with him. She was emotional asking “how?”… it was so sweet! I hope we get to see some more of the moment, CBS showed only about 10 seconds of it.

A book? (not about health and wellness) I think a classic country album or a duets album would both fall in the same category as My Gift/My Savior in terms of not being a traditional release but also not truly out of left field. I'd welcome either. To be truly out of the box it would have to be something like a film soundtrack that's mostly her, a run in a Broadway show, a true rock album (though that would be more out of left field to general audiences and not her stans), etc.

Country music has done wonders for her (and she for country music) but I think she has reached the point where it won't really do much else for her tbh. She is bigger than the genre, and at this point the genre is holding her back. I want her to get out and do more side projects outside of country music now. Is she adamantly against acting? I know TSOM had her receive some criticism for her acting skills but I don't think she's a bad actress. A film or Broadway show (even just for a short time) would be a good experience for her IMO.

It doesn’t help that country radio has just become so totally unfriendly for females in general. You know it’s bad when even Carrie struggles to get top 3s there for most of the last decade and had to team up with (surprise) a male artist to get her only #1 of recent years.

Yeah, so that’s why I’m agreeing that she has kind of done all she can do with strictly country. Even she can’t really get past the sexism in the mainstream of the genre these days. If she cares about elevating her star/reaching new plateaus. Obviously if she just wants to make the same kind of country music and not care about the success or recognition for it, then she can totally do that too.

Now that everyone is talking about "Starts With Goodbye" I HIGHLY recommend listening on Apple Music now that they updated her entire back catalog with Dolby Atmos. The beginning of the song sounds absolutely ethereal. Gave me chills.
Honestly I wouldn't mind if she rerecorded one of the old album tracks and sent it to country radio as a single. Could you imagine "Starts with Goodbye (Carrie's Version)" or "Do You Think About Me (Carrie's Version.)" I NEED.

Such a pop/ac radio smash circa fall 2007 istg Edit: wow, I forgot Carnival Ride already released that fall… BHC was practically still in its CHR run when So Small came out then lol. That likely explains why SWG pop release got shafted, but I still would’ve tried it tbh. It was more surefire of a crossover than anything on CR.

Wait did they actually have plans for a pop radio push for it or that just wishful thinking.

Especially at that point, when BHC was crossing over, she was adamantly opposed to remixing or even being promoted at non-country radio stations. We got "Some Hearts" as a single but after that flopped on pop and AC, I don't think they were going to try anything else to anything but country. Also, I think "Get Out of This Town" could've been a decent-sized hit on pop but it would've required Carrie to go more the route of Taylor Swift in regards to releasing remixes and pushing herself to pop. She made it crystal clear that she didn't want that though.

Were there any of those at all between 2002 and BHC? Then after BHC, you had Taylor cross over and several other notable ones up until 2011-12 or so. BHC was definitely the start of it though, and Carrie could have had more for sure if they tried (though less certain about the CR songs). I didn’t know she was against it? I would have personally pushed Crazy Dreams for a pop CR single, but GOOTT would’ve been the other viable option imo.

Cody’s Dirt Cheap is at number 15 on mediabase as of today. We might be a lot closer to that duet than we thought hopefully…

Of course I mean their, lol! Oh, spell check! 🤦🏽♀️
I don't think that I do could possibly choose songs from each album for the fan club party, but I would love for Carrie to rerecord the non-country songs from SH just to see how they would sound. 🙂
