Oh for abcdef**k's sake, can they just chart "Love It When You Hate Me" already? It's at #28 in Mediabase and still gaining spins. (This isn't the first time AT40 held back on Avril for too long; in summer 2004 they really dragged on putting "My Happy Ending" on the countdown and then suddenly it jumped in at #13, eventually peaking at #2.)
For those nostalgic for the mid-2000's, four of the extras hit #1 between 2003-06, including two ("Toxic" and "Yeah!") which did so back to back.

They really need to stop having Marry Me as an OTV. It's not charting. Move along please.

Do you notice how Yeah and Toxic are the only songs from that era that Ryan plays, and he plays them often, no Jessica Simpson, no Eminem, no 50 cent. But he has played Where's the Love, but not as often as Toxic and Yeah

(So has the more recent "The Monster" and I think "Love the Way You Lie".) But it sure gets a lot of other recurrent play in any case. And from the same era, this week thereβs βCrazy In Loveβ (and speaking of BeyoncΓ© and Jay-Z, β03 Bonnie and Clydeβ is heard in a current AirBNB ad.) Most or all AT40 extras that are more than a few years old are probably from iHeart's approved list of CHR recurrents that still "test well" or whatever.

What MitchWolf didn't mention is that Gayle is guest-hosting, this week. Obviously, "abcdefu" will be #1.
Looks like "We Don't Talk About Bruno" and "She's All I Wanna Be" will be debuting.
"Marry Me" is dead. It never really lived, to be honest. How long will AT40 keep running it into the ground as an On The Verge track?

How much time does it take for AT40 to produce its charts?

Surprised that I Love You by The Walters hasn't made it on to the countdown yet or that Record Player by Daisy the Great ft. AJR hasn't made it on as an OTV yet as it's been just barely been hanging on the airplay charts at Pop and Hot AC

I've never been a fan of celebrity guest hosts. A few of the reasons: -They're clearly not professional radio personalities. -Jokes about the guest host not being Ryan Seacrest and about where Ryan is. -"My new album. Blah blah blah. My new album." -"Call me now to ask me questions." Never mind that the show was recorded a week ago.
But I get that many listeners would prefer them to radio people from AT40 affiliates.

If Ryan can't host, I would prefer someone from Ryan's on air show to guest host the countdown. That would be a welcome change than the standard celebrity guest host.

With "We Don't Talk About Bruno" debuting, this would be the first time in almost 23 years that a song from an animated Disney film has charted on AT40. The last time, was in the summer of 1999 when Phil Collins cracked the top 40 with "You'll Be In My Heart" from Tarzan.

Another complaint I have about guest hosts is that they, rarely, announce anything (song titles, artists, positions, chart movements, etc.). They just say "here's another hit" and play the next song.

I remember years ago when the guest hosts used to be more engaging and excited to be there. I'm not saying they are bored, but sometimes they don't seem to care enough. Guest hosts used to say the title of songs, artists, and chart positions a long time ago.

Love It When You Hate Me was hanging around #55 on Mediabase when this weekend's chart was produced. ?? It was at #33 in MB two weeks ago at this point. How much time does it take for AT40 to produce its charts? Go here and look at the charts dated Feb 27th and March 6th. pulsemusic.proboards.com/thread/130769/mediabase-chr-pop-top-recurrents?page=22This weekend's AT40 chart was made around March 2nd. So LIWYHM was between #57 & #51. Once you remove all the songs that have fallen off the chart from those lists, then LIWYHM is right around #41 so it's a sure debut next week.

I don't listen to the countdown when someone cohost I don't always listen to the guest hosted shows, but I'll make it a point to if I particularly like the artist or host in question. Not sure about Gayle (though hearing her announce herself on top should be cool), but I'll listen to Lauv next week.
