The Weeknd - "Save Your Tears"

The fourth and final single off of The Weeknd's global smash album "After Hours," the song went #1 in May 2021 thanks to a remix with Ariana Grande, the track became The Weeknd's 6th #1 hit and 3rd from the album, it also reached #1 on pop radio. The track was the biggest hit of 2021 worldwide and the second biggest single of  2021 in the US. I love this track and its endurance has been nothing short of incredible, it's still sitting in the Hot 100 Top 20 as I write this (April 5, 2022).

"Save Your Tears" is such a fantastic song that like "Blinding Lights" before it grew on to become an all-timer for me. I enjoy listening to both the original and the remix version featuring Ariana Grande.

I didn’t go thru a phase with this, but I definitely enjoyed it every time it came on radio for months! The unique song structure is what makes this so great IMO

I like it, it's not a bad song, but I never go back to it unless it comes up on shuffle. Never cared for the Ari remix, don't think I've listened to it for more than a couple of times.

The original is great but the Ari version surpassed it for me.

Anyways, Save Your Tears was okay at first, but the overplay soured this for me. This one had the weirdest run for any song that beat the 25/52 rule. It first charted during the first two weeks of April 2020, then returned in January 2021, first going recurrent from #41 after its 52nd week on the charts. It returned in January 2022, charting 17 more weeks before finally going recurrent a second time at #16 (the highest any song has fallen off due to the 25/52 rule, and the second highest overall to Plug Walk, which dropped off the charts after its 20th week from #15 during Scorpion week).

Perhaps SYT’s lasting legacy on the charts is that its 2022 post-holiday run is what forces Billboard’s hand to strengthen the 25/52 recurrent rule.

maybe it should be two years after a song is released as a single . Wikipedia lists it as August 9 2020 vs the album being released March 20 2020.

Last Sunday marks two full years since the Remix featuring Ariana Grande of "Save Your Tears" came out. I enjoy "Save Your Tears" as it is, but the addition of Ariana made me appreciate the song even more.

This is an unpopular opinion, but I strongly prefer the original to the remix. I don't feel Ariana adds that much and the song is better without her IMO.
