Yeah, because otherwise, songs like I Kissed a Girl, which was a number one hit, would end up getting caught between school years.

Before the pandemic struck, the school period that I'm used to is June-March, with the April-June period being the summer vacation. Now it is September-June

Don't some schools let out in June though? Yeah, I just decided to go from September-May to keep things simple. If you'd like to see what the lists would look like with June/August counted than I can provide those too.

Yeah, because otherwise, songs like I Kissed a Girl, which was a number one hit, would end up getting caught between school years. these are not intended to be treated as alternatives to Billboard YE lists, they are just simply school year ends. Big summer hits could get caught. A different idea could be doing lists where you add the second half of a year and the first half of the next year together.

I'm just personally confused as to which version of these cool school year ends I should use. July-June, August-July or September-August? I'm good with each of the scenarios.
