That's why you let the numbers do the talking and don't do it yourself.

My pfp is safe from Wallen and I have demonstrated yet another example of how First Day predictions are often inaccurate. A certain user was fairly certain DTJ would end up 3 when in actuality it was 7. To be fair, everyone in this section (maybe except anonymous1) predicted Morgan would be Top 3. Some even predicted it would be #2.

Like his older songs are doing now, this song will slide next week but come back up again once radio latches on

I wonder what happened, it's as if predicting without any numbers to back your prediction up doesn't work usually.

I’m not going to run from my incorrect prediction.

Another number 1 that isn’t at 1 in any category. Being #2 / #2 / #9 is a pretty consistent set of metrics. Bruno never made top ten in radio, and I think Heat Waves has had several weeks at #1 without being top ten in all metrics (can't remember for sure tho). Was there a thread tracking the positions on the component charts for each of the #1s every week? I'd be curious to see that if so.

pretty much everybody was predicting DTJ was gonna be higher than it was i really don't know what singling out one person's incorrect predictions accomplishes at this point

Harry Styles’ ‘As It Was’ Returns to No. 1 on Hot 100, Morgan Wallen’s ‘Don’t Think Jesus’ Debuts in Top 10 Styles scores his first multi-week Hot 100 leader, after "Watermelon Sugar" led for a frame in 2020. www.billboard.com/music/chart-beat/harry-styles-morgan-wallen-hot-100-top-10-1235063030/ By Gary Trust
“Jesus” marks Wallen’s first song released with him in a lead role since he was caught on video using the N-word among friends in February 2021. new chart category just dropped

Wow that "no airplay" strategy really cost Wallen a few spots on Hot 100.

All the premature b****ing about Enemy, yet it's not even #1 on the official Billboard radio chart.
But yeah I'm pleased to see Harry back at #1, and lol at the tired old comment about it not being #1 in any metric. Its stats are very well-balanced, with both sales and streaming being stable at #2, and radio rapidly rising into the top ten.

Wow that "no airplay" strategy really cost Wallen a few spots on Hot 100. This isn’t a pop song. Country radio tends to react slower

pretty much everybody was predicting DTJ was gonna be higher than it was i really don't know what singling out one person's incorrect predictions accomplishes at this point I agree w/you. It's really weird to be mad at ppl being wrong and sucks the fun out of ppl placing bets and predicting. I mean DTJ still ended #3 on streaming and #1 on sales, it lacked radio to go top 3 like ppl predicted. Lots of ppl thought it got picked up in radio when it didn't

I mean, we all make predictions but when you put so much effort into criticizing other’s predictions and follow your own with: I think we can all agree, at this point, that Don't Think Jesus, As It Was, and First Class WILL be the Top 3 on the 4/30 chart. Anyone who doesn't think this at this point isn't paying attention. the jokes kind of write themselves.

It went to number one but for most of the week so people can have their wrong opinions about it. Big Energy was ahead of it on airplay so it got number one, that's just how it works. I remember this happened last year as well when drivers license went to number one mid week but the radio #1 on Billboard still went to Go Crazy. It'll be number one next week.

Indeed, we can have all the non-premature complaining of it in next week's chart thread.

As expected, the annoying Wallen stans swarmed the thread with posts about a song that is not anywhere near being number one being number one

I don't know how top three was arrived at but...
As this is sales driven it will be gone from view next week (for now)
For example - Wasted On You --- a top 10 on the Hot 100 January 2021 is climbing up the charts all over again now that radio has picked it up

Morgan Wallen Makes Historic Hot Country Songs Chart Entrance With ‘Don’t Think Jesus’ Wallen scores his record-breaking third No. 1 debut on the survey.
By Jim Asker
04/25/2022
Morgan Wallen becomes the first artist to score a trio of No. 1 debuts on Billboard‘s airplay-, streaming- and sales-based Hot Country Songs chart since the survey began as an all-encompassing genre ranking in October 1958.
On the April 30-dated tally, Wallen’s “Don’t Think Jesus,” released on Mercury/Republic/Big Loud Records April 15, rockets in at the summit. It gives Wallen four career No. 1s, including a record-breaking three that have opened in the penthouse.
Morgan Wallen SEE LATEST VIDEOS, CHARTS AND NEWS
Only 11 songs have debuted on Hot Country Songs at the pinnacle since its inception. Just one other artist has achieved multiple No. 1 arrivals: Taylor Swift, with “All Too Well (Taylor’s Version)” last November and “Love Story (Taylor’s Version)” in February 2021.
Wallen’s “Wasted on You,” his current single being promoted to country radio, from his 2021 release Dangerous: The Double Album, premiered at No. 1 on Hot Country Songs in January 2021, after “7 Summers” launched at the summit in August 2020. His first leader, “Whiskey Glasses,” completed a 30-week trek to the top in May 2019.
On the all-format Billboard Hot 100, “Jesus” opens at No. 7, marking Wallen’s third top 10, all of which have started in the tier. “Wasted” began at its No. 9 peak and “7 Summers” arrived at its No. 6 best.
“Jesus” was written by Jessi Alexander, Mark Holman and Chase McGill, “with [Wallen] on their mind,” Wallen noted in a preview performance of the song in October on Instagram.
“Jesus” marks Wallen’s first song released with him in a lead role since he was caught on video using the N-word among friends in February 2021. He subsequently apologized and asked fans not to defend him. While most radio chains pulled his songs, his music eventually returned to airwaves – with Dangerous single “Sand in My Boots” having topped Country Airplay this February; the same month, he kicked off his The Dangerous Tour.
“Jesus” begins with drew 18.1 million U.S. streams in its opening frame, ending April 21, according to Luminate, formerly MRC Data, and grants Wallen his seventh No. 1 on Country Streaming Songs.
The stand-alone single also sold 21,500 downloads and starts atop Country Digital Song Sales and the all-genre Digital Song Sales list. Wallen posts his fifth No. 1 on the former ranking and his second on the latter, which he first topped as featured on Lil Durk’s R&B/hip-hop hit “Broadway Girls” in January. Thus, Wallen earns his first No. 1 on the all-genre sales tally with a country track.
“Jesus” is additionally bubbling under the Country Airplay chart, with 465,000 impressions in the week ending April 24.

If not for the week at #3 on Sour’s release week, deja vu would have topped that list. dv had this 13 week run last summer: 8-9-10-9-10-10-10-9-10-9-10-9-8.

Bieber had a similar situation with Intentions, which almost held the record by logging an incredible 14 weeks in the 8-10 region (as well as some weeks at #11) before jumping to #5. To me that was one of the most interesting occurrences around late winter/spring 2020, which of course got lost amongst all the discussion about the myriad #1 debuts, COVID, 6ix9ine controversy, etc.

no new career high for that country guy. let's say hello to that. I've been on the Morgan Wallen is to be forgiven train, but it's quite funny to me that I, as someone who listen to his music, don't think about him as much as you who claim to hate him.
