The one notable thing about Morgan Wallen that I’ve picked up on is how massive his young fanbase is. I teach middle school and just about all of the kids are into him. It’s been a loooong time since I saw kids who were into a Country singer. Where?

Morgan Wallen is the Drake of country music. The first week numbers for his next album are going to be astronomical.

Morgan Wallen is the Drake of country music. The first week numbers for his next album are going to be astronomical. You need to have more than 1 smash album (and 0 crossover hits to date) to be the “Drake” of a genre.

He may have meant in the here and now. Not career-wise
Either way, I think it is just an opinion and not a measurable statistic

Lil Baby would be a better comparison currently.
Last album had an insane chart run, the biggest act to debut in the genre the past 5~ years, still hasn’t crossed mainstream yet.

I think that’s the best comparison But 7 Summers definitely crossed over to get non country audience from TikTok and Whiskey Glasses has cemented itself like Tennessee Whiskey - still a top streaming song all these years later and streamed by / added to plenty of non-county playlists. It didn’t cross over in the sense that Need You Now or Love Story crossed over when it’s a concurrent success but crossed over in the sense that non-country listeners know the song and listen to it occasionally

What are the top ten albums of the decade thus far? I imagine some variation of the Lil Baby, Morgan Wallen and Pop Smoke are the top three, but everything else is not so obvious

It appears it was an opinion statement rather than a fact I for one think people should have their opinions whether right or wrong. Rather than have others pick them apart

Sydney Sweeney is today’s Meryl Streep. It is my opinion, so no one try to press against that notion

Decade End charts are based on inverse points for chart runs.

A little sad Turning Red's Nobody Like U didn't take off but #49 is still a higher than usual peak for a Disney soundtrack! Encanto was obviously a big but fun outlier
Love Silk Sonic's Love's Train but seems like it's not gonna take off as well!
Lauren Spencer-Smith's follow up is performing decently, she really does have a following.
I need radio to do their thing and make One Right Now return to the top 10 eventually, still really like that song and while it didn't perform gangbusters, it is having solid longevity

Encanto was obviously a big but fun outlier It also wasn’t even a “soundtrack” movie! Like it’s not a musical the movie. I bet with streaming being the way that parents feed 6 year old kids music now you’re going to see big Disney hits on the charts for the next few years- maybe not Bruno big but I bet Family Madrigal will be the average Disney song for a while

Kids stuff are big on YouTube (Baby Shark's enormous views would exemplify) so yeah those Disney stuff might not be big on Spotify/AM but YouTube will carry them

Encanto was obviously a big but fun outlier Me too, but NLU is a fast burner. I can’t speak for everyone, but once I got over that song, I was REALLY over it I feel the opposite. For Encanto, Bruno has a much better listening experience when thinking about the context of the movie. It feels like a drag to me when listening to it on a random streaming playlist on its own. Another song from the movie like Surface Pressure has more of a standalone hit appeal to it despite the awkward flow at times, but it still works with its lyrics and sequencing. Nobody Like U is a song that works with or without the context of its movie and that is what drives the replay value so much more (I mean it is written by Billie Ellish and Finneas so that’s why). Although the obvious motive is to resemble the boybands of the 90s/00s, I think it does fit right into the scene of today’s music when the 70s/80s resembled sound is still a big thing in this decade so far.

It's a shame NLU is stalling. It was a better song than most of what Encanto had and Turning Red was also better than Encanto

Off topic stuff should be kept off chart discussion
Unless it’s praise for Pixar’s latest masterpiece, Turning Red. That’s welcome and encouraged on all threads across the forum

Who says those who are "there for the music" are not also mostly racist? I fail to see how it's "clear the vast majority" are not racist. It is sad that that you think that. He was a big star before - The "incident" was February 2021 and did see a short sales spike from the news story which has long since washed away. His album was #1 "pre-incident" and is still one of the biggest in the country. Do you really think more than a year past a story that has long since left the news cycle that people are paying that close attention. I acknowledge there are probably racists in the fanbase but there are probably many walks of life that listen to his music. I listen to his music - If you want to think that makes me racist, I don't really care. This conversation is beyond idiotic. There’s racists in every fan base in every genre. Those who call everyone racist and scream racism at every corner are usually the most racist.

1.03M for Morgan on Spotify, less than half of what Jack and Harry are doing.
Harry will probably be #1 on Hot 100, thanks to airplay.

Tomorrow, I expect Big Energy to overtake at the top on radio on Kworb and As It Was to break into the top 10.

Didn’t Billboard get rid of buying multiple copies in their formula?
