Her vocals and that electric guitar soar. This is epic in the realm of Celine. Oscar nomination written all over it. Currently #6 and rising fast on iTunes.

Oscar is the main goal here and can't see anything defeating it right now.

Of course it will flop on Pop. She couldn’t even get “Rain On Me” to the top ten there. Those days are behind her.
I like this track.

It's certainly no "Take My Breath Away," but that was a 10/10. It is solid though, I like the sound she's going for more than the song itself. Don't see this doing particularly well anywhere, but I don't think they expect it to.
Looking forward to the club mixes.

If a song gets sent to Pop radio the artist and the management expect the song to be a hit. Don't get why you're saying that they don't expect this to be a hit? She will have good promotion and good hype from the movie so this should peak very close to or even in the top 10.

Generally there’ll be expectations behind it and maybe certain goals that may not be particularly lofty or ambitious based on a range of considerations. Depending on how much effort and funds are put into things like promotion, there may not be expectations for this to perform better than “Rain On Me,” for example, and since it’s a soundtrack single, it may not get a ton of promo and may itself simply be a tool used to promote the movie when it hits theatres later in the month.

Shallow and RoM were literally huge chart hits on Hot 100 but pop still didn't play them as much as they played other #1 hits by pop artists. I don't see that changing with this one.

I don't think Lady Gaga, her label, mgmt, the movie studio, her chiropractor's office, etc. expects an 80's inspired power ballad to be a big hit at top 40. Especially from an artist whose golden radio days are behind her. Sometimes sending a song to radio is simply about maximizing exposure on all fronts. Let's not be dense leona.

You Gaga stans crack me up, already convinced that the song will flop on Pop. I think this will peak close to the top 10. Nice set-up. If this is anything like the "Stupid Love" and "Rain On Me" threads, you'll be in here everyday critiquing it's performance in a passive aggressive way. This is your moment to shine after all of those messy Camila threads you constantly turn into a battlefield.

I like her vocals and tone here, it’s very nice. However, the chorus is melodically boring and forgettable. Meh.

Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks?

Wow this is a big fat MEH... I don't like it. And I really wanted to like it and was looking forward to it. Melodically it's very, very subpar IMO. Plus, I hoped it would sound a lot more 80s and retro than it does. I think this song just cements that as a balladeer GaGa just doesn't cut it for me. And never really has.

Honestly, one of her weakest singles in years. Also it gave me “Before I Cry” vibes and I love that song so I wish they’d push it instead of the new single😅

This is such"MEH" material - and she says she worked for years on this? What a missed opportunity.

Are any CHR stations playing this yet? I've been checking 'recently played' on KIIS, Z100, and a bunch of other ones, and it doesn't look like it has any spins on the ones I've been watching. Did the Tuesday drop catch stations off guard?

IT’S FABULOUS, just like her! Smash hit coming through!!!! I’ll eat my words if this doesn’t smash/have longevity.
My only critique is I wish she would have had more runs on some parts.

I really enjoy the song, but I definitely found it underwhelming on first listen. The intro is really weird (and kind of off key?) and the chorus isn't the explosive chorus I was expecting. It doesn't feel like she worked on this for years. I still really like it, but I expected a lot more

I really enjoy this. She nails that 80s power ballad sound splendidly.
As for how this will perform? Honestly, I see this becoming a culturally significant song, but very slowly over time. So no huge weeks on the charts outside of its debut. I see a short run on pop with a low peak, but a lengthy run on the Hot 100 im the lower regions as sales and streams will be consistently decent with spikes everytime the song is brought up for performances/awards. Perhaps spikes with the film's releases to theaters and home media. A song quietly always there, and even churning out decent numbers long after recurrency, eventually cementing itself as a notable standard in the mainstream. Essentially, a smaller scale version of "Shallow."

Hmm..I disagree about promo being minimal for radio. She's had a banner on all access for a whole week. They may not be expecting a massive radio smash, but they definitely are NOT expecting this to serve OUT-OUT.

We're just setting our expectations correctly. It's Lady Gaga in 2022 with an off-trend soundtrack single not Lady Gaga's next lead single in 2012.

Will it be a hit? Maybe, specially if the film is huge.
Will it be a radio hit? Lmao, not on CHR.
It's a decent soundtrack single.
