there have been lots of albums with three successful singles (although, yes, Purpose is one of the GOAT with its trifecta) — but Purpose didn't have an album bomb which I'd define as where most of the tracks debuted.

Didn't all the deepcuts from Purpose debut that week, including a few Top 40 debuts, Loce Yourself debuting in the Top 10, a few songs from the deluxe

Drake's Views had crazy nuts longevity in 2016. I think that in addition to 3 singles all in the top 20 at once he had "Grammy's", "Hype", "Still Here" and "Child's Play" all hit 10 weeks without ever hitting the top 30 or being released as singles

It should be both Purpose (25/52 rule) and Formation (Prince’s death) had external forces that caused many more songs to go recurrent than would have otherwise. The first album to do serious damage to the charts without any help was Divide. That album really destroyed the UK charts, they had to implement the rule that limited the number of songs an artist can chart to 3. Then, a few months later came DAMN. Kendrick really was that big in 2017.

For an album as big as Purpose was, it's had very terrible longevity on the Billboard 200 but I guess when you consider the performance of Justin's entire album discography on the Billboard 200, it isn't so surprising. He charted 0 albums for like 2 straight years until Changes dropped and then again for a few weeks until Justice dropped.

There are album bombs, and songs that linger from those, and then you have albums with multiple actively promoted singles. Bieber has had several instances where multiple songs were being actively promoted, and succeeding at the same time. Ariana too. Lingering album bombs I’m less knowledgeable of as I don’t follow the chart that closely but didn’t Planet Her have a few album tracks that stuck around?

It was a toss up between albums like 1989, Title, BBTM, Purpose and 25 that had decent album bombs and longevity with their singles including songs on all those projects that weren’t singles but still sticked around on the Hot 100 for a minute. I think Lemonade and Views were the first albums that influenced the streaming era as we’re seeing today and changed the entire way we saw them. It wasn’t anymore just a couple of songs from an album that were the most listened to that made it onto the charts, but the entire album would as well. Then as time passes further into the streaming era, we would see album bombs getting more stronger and stronger and it would eventually be just off majority streaming alone which was really insane, but now its just a regular thing we see.

As I recall, BBTM was the first album bomb to cause significant damage to a particular part of the Hot 100 (in this case the bottom 50, as I don’t remember if any non-singles actually made the top 40). Purpose (alongside One Direction’s History that same week) was the first one to really impact the top 50 significantly thanks to the exorbitant number of videos Justin made to promote the album (nearly every song on the album had one, at least for the standard edition).

Nah, it’s going to peak on radio soon, and Harry is going to drop it to promote Late Night Talking on radio. I find it interesting that it's the bigger pop/crossover releases that seem to produce these type of songs

Rihanna had quite a lot. Loveeeeeee Song, Pour It Up, Birthday Cake, all were chatting for quite a long time before/without being singles.

There's of course Dark Horse by Katy Perry which was outperforming her actual 2nd single Unconditionally.

The Drake/Future album had album tracks that did very well. Jumpman of course (which peaked on its 4th week I think as an album track which is very unusual because they normally just fall after first week, and then sadly didn't manage to surpass it's peak after it became a single, I think it reached the same position it got to as an album track). They had another album track Big Rings which I think managed to spend 20 weeks on the Hot 100 and go recurrent which is really amazing!

I think Someone Like You and Set Fire To the Rain by Adele were chatting a lot before becoming singles too. A lot of Olivia Rodrigo's album tracks seemed to hang around for ages too.

peaking at radio doesn't mean free-falling. Blinding Lights peaked at radio in May '20 and it was still #1 until September, and in the top 10 one year after it hit #1 there. Also, In Your Eyes didn't stop BL, so yeah...if it's meant to be, nothing will stop As It Was.

also, BL was still in the top 10 after SYT peaked at radio, so you shouldn't use the cards "peaked at radio" and "other singles".

I definitely think it will (keep in mind that no song from FWB Vol. 1 peaked higher than #20). Maybe a contender for #1 or even Song of the Summer, but in terms of its first week, it does have to go up against As It Was the week after Harry's album.
