Unless Tate somehow gets a massive album bomb out of nowhere, i think weβre finally calm for this week. Maybe the Kanye/X song could do some numbers but i doubt it would stick around.

Tate's album is so good. Hope she gets #1 this week.
Also I hope TAYA can make an impact on Hot Christian Songs chart.

Hopefully things have calmed enough and Stay and HeatWaves can return top 10 There is no reason for songs that have been out for over/almost a year to have the need to return to the top 10 with the amount of new releases we are getting.

If you thought that was bad, letβs not forget that Levitating and Save Your Tears were on the chart from January to early May. If Billboard does nothing about recurrency rules, Heat Waves and Stay may still be charting a year from now.

The #1 will be between Bad Bunny and Harry.
I canβt wait for Futureβs 5th week numbers to be better than Kendrickβs 3rd week.

I really hope Tate can get a proper hit from this album. She honestly deserves it, her music has improved so much even since just last year.

Biggest song of 2020 (Blinding Lights): 80s synthpop Biggest song of 2021 (Stay): 80s synthpop Biggest song of 2022 (As It Was): 80s synthpop
I think there's a pattern.

Congratulations on having just figured out there's been an 80s revival in popular music! It's been going on for a while now. Sarcasm aside, I do think with how much 80s synthpop had been made and become very popular as of late it's becoming quite stale.

AIW doesnβt even have as many weeks at #1 as Heat Waves yet. Plus, itβs possible AIW fizzles out like EOM did, and we could see First Class, About Damn Time, or even Wait For U turn out to be even bigger than AIW when itβs all said and done.

Does it matter how many weeks at 1? Blinding Lights is clearly the biggest song of 2020 but The Box and Rockstar had more weeks at 1, Stay had is the biggest song of 2021 but Drivers License and Butter had more weeks at 1. Itβs not far fetched to say As It Was has been the biggest song of 2022 so far.

Regardless of what I think the biggest song of 2022 is, Future Captain has a point - the trend of β80s synthpop and other similar throwback sounds is really starting to get stale, and itβs just one reason as to why pop music has had a rough year thus far in 2022. Latin and country are doing OK, but every other genre on the charts is having a really off year IMO.
I think we need a shot in the arm in terms of mainstream innovation and/or a change of pace in sound ASAP.

I saw Top Gun and for a macho, military, patriotic 'Murica movie, it was pretty fun. Good acting, story, action, and about as good as a Top Gun sequel could be
But not good enough to make me think Hold My Hand is a good song π€ͺπ€ͺπ€ͺ (seriously, they play Danger Zone, could they not have Kenny Loggins make a new song?!?)

Sadly, the few attempts Iβve seen to make hyperpop huge in the 2020s have not panned out thus far. Itβs not like SugarCrash was a world-conquering smash hit last year.

Itβs a shame that country radio is sooo slow. If Morgan Wallen had a pop style radio deal with You Proof and debuted it this week I bet it wouldβve been able to be number one. Hopefully it goes to radio soon and not in six months because itβs a great summer song and holding up amazingly on streaming - a bunch of weeks in the top 10 for a country song is something we havenβt experienced since BLABR

Country radio is always two steps behind, playing catchup.
