From the new Kellyoke EP.
Fabulous. Love the intro--I need something like that on her original album. She's having so much fun here; her vocal is as energized as we've ever heard it.

QOTN is my favorite song of all time. I didn't ask for this.

This is really fun and she sounds fantastic. The original Whitney album version always had major production issues (the dance mix single version was superior). I liked the beefier production on this one and the intro.

This is just wack. Vocally she's on point ofc, but the arrangement/production is just lame AF. This cover instantly brought to mind those ill-adivsed rock covers Mary J. Blige did about a decade ago, "Whole Lotta Love" and "Stairway To Heaven,"; sounds cheesy and inauthentic.

I agree that the production feels very much karaoke but I love her vocal and how much fun it sounds like she's having.

I totally hear what people are saying about the production being karaoke but isn’t this EP called Kellyoke (pretty much rearranged covers of her karaoke segment of her show)? I kinda expected the production to be what it is so was mainly looking forward to the vocals in which she delivered. I think most of these came across better live but with the way samples/interpolations are the wave and covers like Beggin became hits, I wouldn’t be completely surprised if Atlantic sent one of these to HAC radio at least.

Kelly sounds so good on this and the arrangement is so great, but at the same time that is kind of what makes the obviously small-budget production most disappointing on this particular song, bc this could have easily been given a final gloss and serviced to HAC or clubs and weekend radio shows. This is the kind of cover that should spend 48574 weeks at the top of Dance/Electronic Songs.
I know Kelly just did this for funs/as a side project and I'm generally the first one to cut her a lot of slack bc I know her priorities have always been different from the norm...but damn it would be nice if she'd remember she's still seen as a pop star at least once in a while.

Are people going to really come on here and complain that the production sounds a little too karaoke?! I mean, you really can’t win sometimes. I love it for what it is, she sounds like she is having a ton of fun and that makes me enjoy the song that much more. Is it going to be remembered in 20 years, heck no, but they weren’t even going for that.

She sounds great. The production could've been a bit better, although I quite like the direction it was going in? A sort of heavier/edgier production compared to the original. The only thing I would've liked was if Kelly had layered more vocals on the chorus. I think another 2-3 layers of her vocals would've made the chorus pop more or maybe even take it to the extreme and layer in 5-10 more.

No disrespect to anyone's tastes, but that song wouldn't make my favorite Whitney songs list. I would have rather KC do a WH ballad instead. I know she did "Run To You" before.

How dare she change up Whitney’s 23rd best song and plonk it somewhere in a low-key EP. Blasphemy!!
