Up from #3 to #2 on Billboard Country Airplay this week. Cole remains at #1 for a 2nd week with "She Had Me At Heads Carolina".

Does anyone know if Sony will try to go for the Billboard #1 or will #2 be its final peak?

Luke lost spins today, but gained audience. I'm not sure if this is done or not. It'd be funny if this was his first MB only #1.

From what I know, they're going to try again this week, but considering the fact it gained 940 spins this past week, it won't be a push like that again.
Sony Music Nashville and his team know about the streak, as does most of Nashville. It may drive it to hang on for another week and sneak in there on Billboard, before Cole grabs number one again, but have to wait and see.

This would be the most wild song to break the #1 streak. It's such a gigantic hit and one of my personal favorites from him. Especially after the monstrosity of "Doin' This".....
I also wouldn't mind seeing his streak die so it can be someday beat by someone else.

Kind of crazy that Luke is having to contend with another massive song at the top. Cole is kind of unstoppable right now. I don’t know if I see them pushing enough this week for it to overcome, unless Cole’s team hits the brakes and lets Luke get his week. All streaks eventually come to an end, it’s just crazy to me that Doin’ This made it to #1 and this might peak at #2.

Interesting that Sony is going to keep trying after a huge push week. Be interesting to see if radio plays ball. If I was Cole’s team though I might try to block it. Luke’s team has been very aggressive pushing for multi-week #1’s and blocking other songs. It would be ironic if the same happened to him

Honestly at this point I’m stunned Cole held on to block Luke from even one week at the top. That’s extraordinary. It’s going to be interesting to see if Cole’s team pushes hard to have him be the artist that breaks one of the longest streaks of consecutive #1 singles that has ever been seen, and if they’re able to accomplish it.

I think Luke has the record to start a career, but he doesn't have the solo or overall record

It's actually 17 straight #1's held by Blake Shelton. It started with "Hillbilly Bone" in 2010 and ended with "Came Here To Forget" in 2016.

I was pretty sure this was the answer, and I will add to that, that Cole Swindell is with Warner (as is Blake)...so it will definitely be interesting to see what they do

Only 0.148m audience difference between this and She Had Me At Heads Carolina on Billboard's Country Airplay chart.
Yes SHMAHC is a huge hit but this song constantly charts above that song on Hot 100. This deserves a #1 on Billboard.

Does this still have a shot for #1 on Billboard? Going to be a nail biter between him and Cole. It could be his team are targeting the billboard reporting stations. We’ll have to see. I have everything crossed. Will be so weird that this is the song to break the streak as it’s easily one of his best and biggest hits. But at least it was a #1 on HCS and MediaBase. So in some ways the streak is alive.

I agree that it would be a shame for him to miss #1 with such a big hit, but on the other hand I love seeing this much excitement at the top of the chart.

Maybe I’m the only one but I hope this misses the top. Luke’s had half a dozen mediocre songs to hit the top and his overrated-ness has really gotten on my nerves since I really haven’t cared much for any single since his debut album, save for “Even Though I’m Leaving”. So even though this is probably his best effort since his debut (outside of ETIL), I’m hoping for this streak to be broken, especially if Cole’s far superior song gets an extra week at the top. Sure this song deserves #1, but I’m definitely pulling for a big block from Cole here.

I get that this song was huge and deserving of #1, but his over saturated radio play has really worn me out of him. There have been plenty of larger songs get blocked by a lesser song that radio was more infatuated with. There’s been tons of songs (especially female songs) that have been blocked from the upper positions of the chart due to less impactful songs that radio felt like spinning more.

There are plenty more annoying things in country … the fact that Morgan Wallen won’t leave the top 10 on the Billboard 200- it’s like the same people have him on repeat every week. This is one of Luke’s best songs and I love a streak - I hope he makes it as Luke is probably the best male artist we have currently - the Cole song is fine but def sounds more pop and You Proof is just a terrible song and in no way ‘country’.

I think the best compromise here will be this goes to #1 for this week and the streak stays, then SHMAHC retakes it and stays until You Proof takes it, even if my personal opinion wants SHMAHC to block this.

Honestly, I would’ve preferred for Justin Moore to miss #1, so Cole could’ve gotten 3 weeks and then Luke could’ve gotten his week at #1 and then move on to Morgan. Justin Moore’s song is mediocre at best compared to this and SHMAHC, and should’ve missed #1.

Crazy. This is officially the song to end his #1 streak on the BB Country Airplay chart... despite being one of his biggest hits to date. It's disappointing it couldn't have been a mediocre song like "Cold as You" or "Doin' This" that did it, because this song is phenomenal and deserved to have at least a single week at #1. That said, it's still massive and has hit #1 on HCS and became his second top 10 on the Hot 100, and this does kinda harken back to the days of the early 2000s when the country charts would have lots of major hits get stuck with peaks at #2 behind songs that would regularly spend anywhere from 4-8 weeks at the top.

When was the last time that 2 country artists were in the Billboard Hot 100 top 10? Also, really gutted that this song is breaking his streak. This is one of his biggest career hits, so odd that it got blocked. Really would’ve preferred to see this hit #1 and have Justin’s peak at #2.

When was the last time that 2 country artists were in the Billboard Hot 100 top 10? It's actually happened 4 times in the past couple years, though there was a 20-year gap between when Faith Hill & Lonestar did it in 2000 before it happened again. From Billboard: “Two Country Hits in Hot 100’s Top 10 Thanks to Wallen’s “You Proof” and Combs’ “The Kind of Love We Make,” two top 10 Hot Country Songs hits place in the Hot 100’s top 10 together. The tracks rank at No. 1 (for a sixth week, as noted above) and No. 2 on Hot Country Songs (after four weeks on top), respectively. The songs combine for the fourth such double-up in just over two years – after none had occurred in over 20 years, since May 13, 2000, when Faith Hill’s “Breathe” and Lonestar’s “Amazed” ranked at Nos. 3 and 10 on the Hot 100, respectively. Here’s a recap of the five most recent instances of Hot Country Songs top 10s sharing space in the Hot 100’s top 10, with Wallen, Combs and Gabby Barrett factoring into two each: Oct. 1, 2022: “You Proof,” Morgan Wallen (No. 6 on the Hot 100), “The Kind of Love We Make,” Luke Combs (No. 8) Nov. 27, 2021: “All Too Well (Taylor’s Version),” Taylor Swift (No. 1), “Fancy Like,” Walker Hayes (No. 10) Nov. 7, 2020: “Forever After All,” Combs (No. 2), “I Hope,” Gabby Barrett feat. Charlie Puth (No. 6) Aug. 29, 2020: “7 Summers,” Wallen (No. 6), “I Hope” (No. 10) May 13, 2000: “Breathe,” Faith Hill (No. 3), “Amazed,” Lonestar (No. 10) Notably, unlike the four most recent team-ups until this week, both “Proof” and “Kind” appear in the Hot 100’s top 10 without the assistance of pop/adult radio promotion. “All Too Well,” “Fancy Like” and “I Hope,” as well as “Breathe” and “Amazed,” all drew multi-format airplay support. Wallen and Combs’ latest hits are both scaling the tier largely thanks to their streaming and country radio strength, as they rank at Nos. 5 and 7, respectively, on Streaming Songs and Nos. 3 and 2, respectively, on the Country Airplay chart.”

I wonder when the last time 2 country songs were in the Hot 100 Top 10 without airplay on non-country stations. Wish that was mentioned by Billboard rather than just the last 4 times that had other airplay.

Probably even longer, if it's ever happened at all, since Faith Hill & Lonestar had crossover airplay with theirs as well. I wouldn't be surprised if it's actually never happened tbh.

I don’t think Taylor’s re-released song got much non-country airplay, not sure about “fancy like”, but I don’t think that was mostly about airplay (basically I don't think non-country airplay was the reason those two songs were in the top 10, but I could also be wrong)

I wonder if Luke’s team is gonna try again or if they’ll decide to hang up the hat. If it’s the latter, Cole Swindell just did what I honestly started to think would never happen. It’s extraordinary. I wish it was with a different song because this one happens to be miles better than most of what he’s ever put out to radio, but this is an accomplishment that I’d be very proud of.

This song is still so “new” I would be surprised if they don’t keep trying for the sake of his streak. But we will see if radio will oblige.
