Many country artists have disappeared in the past few years and I was wondering if they're going to make new albums??
We have these artists who last released albums of ORIGINAL material, not counting Christmas or Greatest Hits albums
Faith Hill - last album FIREFLIES (2005) Martina McBride- last album RECKLESS (2016) Lorrie Morgan - last album LETTING GO...SLOW (2016) Patty Loveless - last album MOUNTAIN SOUL II (2009) John Michael Montgomery- last album TIME FLIES (2008)
if you can think of artists who have suddenly taken a long break, please add them. I know the ones listed are older artists, but there are still fans out there. It would be nice to her new records from them all!

You know, the fact that Shania Twain has released a new album since a lot of these people is astonishing haha. I feel like I've mentioned it before but yeah, a lot of artists that I loved growing up just stop releasing music out of nowhere. Even if they aren't as successful anymore, I still wish they would have continued to release albums. I also want to add SHeDAISY to the list.

Lorrie Morgan was on Tracy Lawrence's radio show either in February or March. He asked her about new music. She stated she had been listening and collecting songs to record. She said the following week her & her producer were meeting to go through the songs to decide which ones to record. She went on to say she would be in the recording studio in April. So hopefully new Lorrie music will be coming soon.
I am not sure what is going on with Martina. At the 2021 CMT Awards she said she was working on new music. Then several months later in an interview when asked about new music, it seemed there was no new music on the horizon. Since then I have noticed when asked, it seems she changes the subject or ignores the question.

It's been 5 years since Brad Paisley's last album (LOVE AND WAR). That's a long stretch for him...

It's been 5 years since Brad Paisley's last album (LOVE AND WAR). That's a long stretch for him... The weird thing about Brad Paisley is that he hasn't even disappeared. He's had about 6 one-off releases since that record, but no sign of an album, even with two of those singles coming close to top 20 (which is about the best he could hope for at this stage of his career imo).

Brad Paisley has been on Arista Records for 23 years now (1999-present). That is one more than Alan Jackson (1989-2011).

Came up with one that I don't think is even touring anymore: Gretchen Wilson. Another name that hasn't released new music in eons is Jo Dee Messina, but I know she's still touring.

Depending on whether you count Reboot as an original album, Brooks and Dunn's last album was 2007. They've done individual things, but nothing new together. They separated for a while of course, but they are touring again.

*insert obligatory comment about Jamey Johnson, or (indie country wise) Holly Williams or Hank3*

From Canadian scene, I can mention Emerson Drive. They have been dropping some songs here and there, but no album since 2015, even after they scored #6 in 2018 with "The Road," which was their highest peak since 2009.

I think about the lack of output from Jo Dee constantly, lmao. She even announced a new EP, Masquerade, back in like 2017 I believe? And then it just literally never came out, and we never heard anything else about it :( Regarding Martina, I'm not sure if I'd fully describe her as "disappeared" yet, because she is still consistently nabbing random collaborations on people's albums (Jamie O'Neal and Deana Carter recently), performing at tribute shows, presenting at awards shows, landing pretty lofty tour slots (Blake Shelton, The Judds), landing random gigs like Songland, getting honored with a Hall of Fame exhibit, etc. All while keeping a fairly heavy touring schedule of her own. Not to mention she and her husband own one of the hottest recording studios in Nashville. So while I wish she would put out some new music, she at least still feels like she's part of the Nashville "in-crowd", unlike somebody like Jo Dee or Gretchen, or even Patty.

Also whatever happened to Sugarland's album that was finished back before the pandemic? I know they talked about it but then nothing was ever released.

And his last #1 wasn’t even that long ago, albeit as a featured artist on Jimmie Allen’s Freedom Was A Highway.

I definitely feel that Martina has somewhat disappeared from the music scene due to not releasing a new album since 2016. Since then she has only released one single. Yeah she's guested on a couple songs but that is it. I do hope Martina, Jo Dee and Patty come back soon. I hate that SHeDAISY, The Kinleys, The Wilkinsons, and Autumn Hill don't make new music. I want more from them all Also Mark Wills, David Lee Murphy, Sugarland, The Warren Brothers, Kellie Coffey, Faith Hill, Chalee Tennison, Jessica Andrews, and Lee Ann Womack all need to release new music as well.

Terri Clark! I saw her in NC a few months ago and she sounds better than ever. She didn't mention anything about new music however just sang her hits and some covers.

What ever happened to The Band Perry?? I remember they had a pretty polarizing album then never heard anything about them since then The kept wanting to go pop and then when they finally had the chance to cut their ties with being a country band on a country label, they just flopped off the face of the earth and released a small handful of pop tracks that had no hope of being any kind of hits anywhere. Their whole downfall is truly a dumpster fire of epic proportions and really sad to reflect on because I think that if they had stayed on the course they were originally on, they would've been an EOTY-nominated band by the end of album cycle #3. Instead, they threw it all away.

They announced it a couple of times, with the artwork and everything (first as "Heart + Beat" and then as "My Bad Imagination") but they never released it. Then they just released an independent EP in 2018 and that's the last we've heard of them.

I thought they just had the desire to change the direction of their sound to pop music and that was it.

There was an article about how the label made them record that song then released it as a single when the band didn’t want it released and that in conjunction with the label not loving the new material they were turning in caused them to go full pop/get out of their deal.

If I remember correctly they had a whole different album recorded instead of ‘Pioneer’ that leaned more to a rock direction but the label forced them into recording ‘Pioneer’ instead. I think that makes 3 albums recorded but sitting unreleased. I’d love to hear them someday.

It sucks when you hear the stories of artists having to change their style/sound to appease their record label, but it sucks even more knowing that the record label did it with well intentions because they knew that the outcome was going to be a mess. Idk about this supposed in-between album that Kanenrá:ke is alluding to before they dropped Pioneer (which I personally think is even better than their debut), but I think most of us can agree that from what we actually heard of their attempts at music after their sophomore era (since so much of it went unreleased), that they were not headed in the right direction, lol.

Instead, they threw it all away. After they disappeared, then reappeared and disappeared again, they seem to have reemerged again this year doing a bunch of country festival dates, fairs, and one-offs. I wouldn't be surprised if they attempted a country comeback in the near future. And with Brad, I'm really curious about what's going on with him. I know he's sitting on a re-recorded duet version of a song that was on a previous album, so he's been recording something in this time. Maybe a(nother) greatest hits or something?

What happened to Kristy Lee Cook? She was an artist that never fully "happened" but there was a lot of interest in her there for a while. Anyone who watched her season of Idol remembers that she simultaneously stayed on the show too long after some awful performances, and yet not long enough after a string of excellent ones. Then she signed to Arista just months after the show, put out an album and a radio single that went top 30, then... that was kind of it?

They had a lot of songs that were cut before Pioneer but I can't remember them being more rock leaning...maybe Jimmy, but for example It Burns For You was from that era and never saw the light of day despite being quite balady.
