Is George Strait still recording with MCA? He’s one of the only artists I know who have never changed labels since 1981

Near the end of April 2022, he re-signed with MCA and said he hopes to record his next album soon.

I wish he would record more albums especially since he isn’t playing the radio game anymore. I’d love an album of classic country covers and he once said he would love to record a big band Sinatra style record. Be like Willie and release an album every 6 months lol.

I don't think the radio game is over, and if it were I have a hard time believing MCA would sign him as he isn't a huge streamer. I'd imagine the lead single would get pushed at some level, especially with the success of 'Damn Strait', it's a good opportunity to get something out. It doesn't seem like they're close to finishing a project, but who knows. I'll agree that the days of having #1's or even Top 10's are over, but it's very possible to see top 40's from the next project or two at radio. It really depends on what it is though.

For sure the first single from his new album will probably get the once an hour airplay and it’s debut will also be his peak. But the 2nd single after that forget about it lol. George actually still sells very well considering not having a hit. I believe in 2019 he had like the 2nd best selling country album of the year.

Can anyone tell me why his hits “You Can’t Make A Heart Love Somebody”, “Adalida” and “Lead On” were missing from the Strait Out Of The Box album? The only song from his album Lead On that was included was “The Big One”. onebuffalo do you happen to know why?

Yes. Those songs are on the second box set. I have the second one and they are not on it. I just looked it up on my phone. I don't see them either. Those songs should be there.

The only song from his album Lead On on the box set is “The Big One”. I also noticed the only single from his album Twang on the box set is “Living For The Night”.

I would assume because of space/timing. Volume 1 might have been in the plans/being made halfway through the Lead On album and didn't know which singles would still be released. Volume 2 couldn't hold more on physical CDs I believe. Not sure about choices though on the Twang album.

George is performing at a songwriters event in October in Key West with Dean Dillion & Jamey Johnson. He’s recorded his last several albums down there at Jimmy Buffett’s studio. Maybe he will be recording a new album while he’s down there.

As far as volume 1 goes George handpicked all the songs on it. I don't know for volume 2.
