Getting very close to passing "Work Bitch" (#14) as her highest charting single on Pop radio since Scream & Shout.

This song should hit 12 on top 40, top 10 on hot ac and top 10 on AC next week and then, in two or three weeks, enter the top 10 on top 40.

It still blows me away that "Stronger" wasn't a top 5 hit. That song felt massive and is a Britney classic In general her airplay has rarely been as large as you'd think considering her popularity; "Sometimes" and "Crazy" not even being top 3?! "Stronger" and "Slave" not even being top 10?! "Hold Me Closer" is the opposite so far. Its airplay is well ahead of its streams at this point.

“Stronger” never felt like a big hit to me. Most of the singles off OIDIA and Britney were fueled by TRL and the music videos as opposed to airplay.
But I’d say she def made up those grounds with her later albums which basically got airplay even though most of those songs now don’t hold up as well (Femme Fatale era). 10 top 3 hits on pop radio is a pretty impressive track record. I can’t think of anyone other than the 80s/90s Diva’s who’ve racked up that many.

She also had at least two #4s Problem - #1 Bang Bang - #2 (unofficial #1 iirc) Love Me Harder - #3 Side To Side - #1 No Tears Left To Cry - #1 God Is A Woman - #1 Breathin' - #2 Thank U, Next - #1 7 Rings - #1 Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I'm Bored - #3 Positions - #1 34+35 - #1 POV - #3 Save Your Tears Remix - #1

It is impressive, but Katy Perry, Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, and Maroon 5 have also done it during Spears' career.

If things stay consistent, this could log 12 for a new peak in a week.

How realistic are the chances of this hitting the top 5? This already feels like a bigger hit to me than both Lucky and If U Seek Amy.
When it comes to pre-Circus era, I always feel like Britney's songs should have peaked at least 6 chart placements higher than they did on Top 40.

Part of me could see this collapsing by the end of the month, but regardless, I consider this a huge success for both of them. I hope we get a music video at some point

I hope we get a music video at some point An extended version and a Pnau remix seem to be released this friday. It would boost a little bit the streams and her position on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart. I'm confident about Hot AC and AC and hope CHR/Pop won't treat it like "Break my soul"

If Halsey can get into the Top 10 with So Good, then this song should get their easily.

Britney was never a singles artist until Circus when her team aggressively pushed them for PR, visibility, and to get ahead of the digital market. She was that bitch when it came to moving albums prior, though. She's a case study in single success being a terrible measure of an artist's star power.

From the comments it sounds like this will be an uphill battle to get to top 10. Top 5 may be too optimistic. We'll see. She was that bitch when it came to moving albums prior, though. I feel the signs were on the wall in the Britney era though. When you look back at how that album performed it was very front loaded. You would see similar trends with most of her albums until Britney Jean, where it seems they just stopped caring completely. By the end of 2001, the Britney album had sold 3 million copies, yet would only end up 4x platinum. No reason why the album couldn't have hit 7-8x platinum with a stronger rollout. Her diamond days were behind her, but they could have done more to make the albums more successful. Britney's team/label only care about the launch of the album. They stop caring once the tours come around. Eventually it would get to a point where they didn't care about the launch at all and would rely solely on concert grosses.
