After a long time away, I finally present to you a brand-new personal chart!!!
I originally had been running a personal chart, also tracking 50 songs, from February 2020 onwards, but life eventually began to be too much for me to keep up with the chart, so it was discontinued in August 2021, with its final updates being published the following October. Now that my life has settled down a little bit, and I have found a way to track my songs, I’m elated to bring this chart back, with a sleek new look and feel!
This chart will operate just like my old one had, with some slight differences which are due to the change in my personal tracking, and the vision I have for the chart. You can find the “rules” and some new features below:
—Updates will be weekly, with the 50 songs I have been listening to/enjoying the most over the tracking week being listed. Rather than being posted on Fridays, however, I’m moving my updates to Sundays. This in turn makes my tracking weeks run on a Sunday-Saturday basis, as opposed to the Friday-Thursday structure of the previous edition of the chart.
—There will be NO recurrency! If it’s been at #1, who am I to say it’s not allowed to return?! As a result, songs will be able to stay on the chart for rather long durations at a time, should I be so obsessed with them. This is similar in fashion to the operation of the Billboard Hot 100 chart, if I’m not mistaken.
—Thanks to the rule of no recurrency, any song is eligible for placements on this chart, regardless of its age! This is good news for artists who don’t do much these days, and especially good news for bboat11 , who might get to see his fave make an appearance from time to time! With that said, however, many songs will still be as current as possible, and these instances of songs from yesteryear making appearances on the chart are likely to occur once in a blue moon.
—Along with the weekly song updates, I’ll also be providing weekly ALBUM updates!!! I’ll be tracking the top albums I’m listening to, in an abbreviated format of the Billboard 200 chart. This little “bonus chart,” if you will, will operate in the same fashion as the song chart (which means a song’s parent album will be tracked every time I track a song. For instance, if I listen to Carrie Underwood’s “Ghost Story” 17 times in a week, its parent album Denim & Rhinestones will be tracked 17 times and count as points towards reaching the album chart.)
—At the end of each month, I will be gathering up my most listened to artists of the month and providing a Top 10 update alongside the first weekly update of the following month. For instance, on Wednesday, August 31, I’ll be gathering up my Top 10 artists of August, and that list will be published on the Sunday, September 4 update of the weekly chart.
So there you go! I’m excited to get back into this and hope to keep up with it. Feel free to let me know if you wish to be tagged! I’m also tagging the watchers of my former chart; if any of y’all would like to be untagged let me know and I’ll do so!
