I'm asking for those alive and old enough to remember these songs in the 2000s, which of the songs felt the hugest to you in the 2000s and which ones didn't. I want everyone to ignore how much a song sold, ignore the weeks at #1, ignore all of the stats I just want to know your personal experience and what you felt based off of you.
Also, which ones didn't feel as huge.

I wasn't following music in the first half of the 2000s since I would have been under 10, but of the ones I do know, "Yeah!", "Low" and "I Gotta Feeling" felt huge. "Irreplaceable" didn't really feel particularly huge to me.

Well..can't speak for Maria Maria, but all of the songs felt huge to me...besides WBT. I only remember hearing it sometimes on the radio, and seen the video on tv like 3 times. For it to be a 14 wk stay and song of the decade it didn't feel huge to me

From the list shared I would have to chose between Yeah, We Belong Together, Low, and I Gotta Feeling. It's hard because early 2000's has a different feel/tinge than late 00's. The time periods feel quite different, even though they belong to the same decade.
I'll pick Mariah. We Belong Together felt like a moment, especially with it hitting radio impression records during it's run and just feeling like it came out of left field after It's Like That came and went. No one was anticipating that much domination from her at that point in time.
I could also see room for I Gotta Feeling, which felt like an extension of BEP's domination in all things during that year in 2009.

Honestly, all of these felt very huge. Maria Maria and Independent Woman fell off the charts very fast though so they kind of a little forgotten, but when they were at number 1, they were very huge.

hmmm...I'd say IW is still well remembered and the newer generation knows it. Maria Maria is only remembered by those alive at that time.

I was a teenager in the 2000s, so "Yeah" was definitely huge. Just hearing the into says it all! You could not escape from it back then as "Confessions" was his most successful era. I remember in 10th grade, there were girls singing songs from his "Confessions" album.
"We Belong To You"was also huge. I remember hearing Foolish, Dilemma, and Low ALOT on the radio back then. "Independent Women" and "Irreplaceable" were my fave sing along jams. Golddigger was a bop as well.

Lol I remember Yeah was played at almost ever dance, and people would walk around saying "These are my confessions" and Dilemma was so damn overplayed...everytimr you turn on the radio it was on, same with Foolish. Foolish was inescapable and always on the radio, even pop.

Again we only get 1 vote? Lol! But so many felt big to me. The biggest (meaning I heard them on radio, saw the video on TV, heard people talking about it and/or singing it): Dilemma Lose Yourself Yeah! We Belong Together Gold Digger Irreplaceable Low I Gotta Feeling

Yeah! was massive and I still hear it today, so that’s where my vote is going.

It would be interesting to see where these hits land on Spotify today in terms of where each sit in their respective year. I remember seeing on Twitter that Yeah is the 2nd most streamed song released in 2004. The first is actually Maroon 5's She Will Be Loved.

I'm not doing enough research to see where each song stands within their own year, but here are the songs in question ranked by total Spotify and YouTube streams: 1. "Lose Yourself" - 2,688,000,000 2. "Dilemma" - 1,802,000,000 (didn't realize this is his biggest streamer) 3. "Yeah!" - 1,572,000,000 4. "Boom Boom Pow" - 1,333,000,000 5. "Gold Digger" - 1,101,000,000 6. "Irreplaceable" - 965,000,000 7. "We Belong Together" - 925,000,000 8. "Low" - 885,000,000 9. "Boom Boom Pow" - 717,000,000 10. "Maria Maria" - 645,000,000 11. "Foolish" - 412,000,000 12. "Independent Women" - 276,000,000

I turned 10 in 2002. I wasn't following charts or anything at that age but I knew "Dilemma" and "Lose Yourself" were really big hits at the time. I don't know if it's because I'm Canadian or what exactly, but I don't remember "Foolish" at all. "Gold Digger" felt popular but not #1 popular to me.
"I Gotta Feeling" gets my vote here. It felt massive at the time. "Lose Yourself" and Yeah!" would be my next two choices.

I'm not surprised to see Eminem dominate, he's a streaming giant. I felt like Independent Woman wasn't very memorable, even at it's heights it never felt as big as it seemed to me. It seems that sentiment is reflected in the Spotify numbers. Surprised to see We Belong Together and Low on the lower side, but I guess mid 00's hits haven't aged particularly well.

Really close call between "Yeah!" and "I Gotta Feeling" but I went with Usher.

I'm from SE Asia so I decided not to fill in the votes as I believe these choices were based on their US Hot 100's popularity?
But from the list, "Dilemma", "Irreplaceable", "Yeah!" and "I Gotta Feeling" were definitely the ones that felt the biggest to me.
"Dilemma" was massive - I don't think people here these days would be able to name the song or tell who it's by, but if they randomly came across the hook on the radio I'm pretty sure most people would be able to sing along the lyrics. It's just that catchy.
"Irreplaceable" was massive at that time, it was sort of becoming a meme here with the to the left, to the left part and it was most definitely Beyonce's biggest hit at that time - probably her signature, however it was basically eclipsed by "Listen", "Halo" & "Love On Top" a few years later and now it seems pretty forgettable.
"Yeah!" definitely felt really big, at least on MTV because I for sure remember that look from the music video. Not sure if it's getting lots of plays on the radio though, I feel like a lot of radio stations in SE Asia lean towards playing more ballads & midtempos, so from that era I can confidently say "My Boo" was pretty much the biggest hit. It's still getting lots of love today as well! Not to mention that Alicia's popularity was going through the roof at that time. "If I Ain't Got You" is a CLASSIC & very ICONIC (and by "iconic" I meant it like real life-iconic, not just online stans-iconic).
"I Gotta Feeling" was definitely also really big. I don't think it was super massive or anything (or maybe it was? idk), but it's still bigger than most of the songs off that list.
"Love Yourself" was also really big, and although everyone knew who Eminem was but overall, Hip-Hop as a genre was never super mainstream over here - so I wouldn't put it alongside the first four.
The rest of the list, well - "We Belong Together", "Low", "Boom Boom Pow", "Independent Women" & "Gold Digger" were popular but they didn't feel like #1 big to me. As for "Maria Maria" & "Foolish" I don't seem to recall hearing them anywhere at all actually.

Thank you for your response and it's nice to hear a response that's not US based, although I appreciate my US based responses as well. I do not think Irreplaceable was overshadowed by Listen, LOT, or even Halo years later. Listen and LOT were huge with primarily urban listeners in the US, and have not had even a fraction of the success Irreplaceable has had. Halo, when it first came out, I do not think it was eclipsed Irreplaceable. I think it took years for Halo to eclipse Irreplaceable. I think the only song that came close to possibly eclipsing Irreplaceable would Single Ladies. Yeah did receive lots and lots and lots and even more lots of airplay when it was out. In the states, you could not go anywhere without hearing Yeah. It was on pop & Urban stations constantly. Even after it was off the charts and even years later I was still hearing it constantly on the radio. I Gotta Feeling was defiantly massive WW. If I remember correctly, at the time it was a huge digital seller. Stats aside, IGAF defiantly felt huge as you could not go anywhere without hearing that song, even after it chart run.

I'd have to go with "Yeah!" I didn't care for the song much, but it definitely had a big impact at the time. "I Gotta Feeling" is a close second.

I don't know if it's my age or the fact that I grew up in Greece, but it's definitely "Low" for me. My parents first allowed me to use the Internet in 2009 so I "found" the two BEP hits before they found me, if that makes sense.
1. Low 2. I Gotta Feeling 3. Boom Boom Pow
