folklore will always be the better album though, and it would be impossible to reduce it to five songs for me. yes, folklore will always be superior. but since you brought it up... mirrorball this is me trying august the lakesthat's definitely my core four for folklore. the fifth pick is a tossup between like 5 songs 😭 in contention: the 1, cardigan, the last great american dynasty, seven, illicit affairs which does make it evident that the meat of the album for me is in the first 10 songs + "the lakes".

folklore is a better, more consistent album, but evermore has higher highs.
personal folklore top 5
01. exile 02. my tears ricochet 03. august 04. invisible string 05. cardigan
personal evermore top 5
01. marjorie 02. champagne problems 03. happiness 04. ‘tis the damn season 05. tolerate it
(I was clearly happy with the evermore eras setlist)

folklore:
1. my tears ricochet 2. this is me trying 3. exile 4. mirrorball 5. august
evermore:
1. evermore 2. tolerate it 3. willow 4. closure 5. cowboy like me
It was harder to pick 5 from evermore because that album has fallen off for me. I would put Midnights, Lover, and Red above it now.

I am leaning more towards getting a full collection of Taylor vinyls as these TVs come out. Currently I have evermore, Midnights, and Red(TV). My local Target usually has copies of Fearless(TV) and Lover and I'm sure folklore can be found easily enough.

No way Taylor doesn’t go for the #1… so confused as to why she hasn’t dropped anything additional yet? Could website sales of Karma be super underestimated and they already have #1 on lock?

Folklore has higher highs but the back end is full of tracks I don’t really go back to almost ever. (Mad woman, epiphany, Betty, hoax, I also have never cared for invisible string that much.) (Peace is absolutely one of my favorite songs of hers, though.)
However, evermore as an album, as a whole body of work, is just sublime even without some of the higher highs. The way it each track goes into different worlds, kind of like a storybook. Into a fantasy-land on Ivy. The west with Cowboy Like Me. A Victorian drama in tolerate it. A modern day romantic drama in happiness. The trashy country crime of no body, no crime. The end of the pier in Coney Island. The small-town whimsy of Dorothea. The cold autumn of Marjorie. The almost fantastical Disney-movie of gold rush.
These songs really transport you somewhere. It’s incredible and I NEVER see it get talked about regarding evermore.
It’s more consistent, throughout, too. Closure is such an underrated bop - it’s really catchy. Evermore (the song) has some of my favorite melodies of ANY Taylor Swift song - the verse and especially that CHORUS is GORGEOUS. Marjorie is beautiful. Long story short a bop. Cowboy like me and Ivy? So atmospheric. Coney Island grew on me massively since the tour - I really like it now. Dorothea is so cute and whimsical. I think happiness has some of the most mature songwriting ever for her. Willow is so much better than cardigan. Gold Rush is just so movie-like. Right Where You Left Me and It’s Time To Go stomp on The Lakes.
Great, great album. It just doesn’t quite have a level of bullseye like “August” or “The Last Great American Dynasty”, or the ending of illicit affairs, or My Tears Ricochet (or, for me, peace as well).
Basically:
The God-tier of folklore (“August”, “TLGAD”, “peace”, “my tears ricochet”, “illicit affairs”) > just about all of evermore > a lot of the back half of folklore, including invisible string and exile.
Willow is much better than cardigan. Evermore much better than Exile. Coney Island definitely over Exile. No body no crime over Betty any day. It’s time to go and right where you left me way over The Lakes. Marjorie over epiphany.

She's this close. Maybe she doesn't care about the #1? Because I feel like they've hardly promoted this since it dropped last Friday.

I have to admit that as a recovering Taylor hater (Miss Americana documentary changed my tune on her, although I’ve always liked some of her music, just never been a very active fan in consuming her catalog) back when evermore was released, I didn’t give it much of a chance. I was still into folklore, which I still think is a phenomenal record, and so after 1 or 2 listens I think I just wrote evermore off as the leftovers from folklore and haven’t really returned to it since other than the various format singles and “champagne problems” which did catch my attention apparently. I had it in my mind that the whole album sounded like “happiness” - great lyrics but sleep-inducing melodies and I just never had a reason to go back.
I’ve seen y’all talk about evermore being a favorite among her albums, many of y’all even enjoying it more than folklore and so now all this talk about evermore finally has me revisiting it and on first re-listen, I can confirm I’ve been missing out and have had a very warped perception of this album. I’ll listen to it a few times and let y’all know my thoughts on favorites, but thanks for forcing me to give evermore another chance ☺️

The Late Night edition physicals will be for sale at her shows again this weekend. Having the physical exclusive to shows every week is a good way to keep sales up, I guess.

Could website sales of Karma be super underestimated and they already have #1 on lock? not much left they can do for a song that has been out for nearly 8 months already... especially with the new remix being rejected by the public and most of her sane fans. Karma (Remix) on US Spotify: Day 1: #1 Day 2: #9 Day 3: #20 Day 4: #31 Day 5: #36 Day 6: #51 people are barely streaming it, so I'm doubtful they would be purchasing it in large numbers. I'm surprised she didn't have any "alternate versions" or "demo/voice memo" versions ready to go on her website, though. perhaps because she's already done the "Behind the Songs" digital editions for the album on her website with "Karma" as one of the four songs she narrated.

She should sell other albums she owned as well. Yep. Selling her catalog at stadium shows that routinely pull in 10s of thousands of people would be a great way to keep her music selling (and while she clearly doesn't need much help in that department, any boost wouldn't hurt).

Selling her catalog at stadium shows that routinely pull in 10s of thousands of people would be a great way to keep her music selling (and while she clearly doesn't need much help in that department, any boost wouldn't hurt). As I believe Taylor is a smart businesswoman and her team seems to be very great in their marketing strategy the last few years, they maybe want to make sure "Midnights" got the most out of publicity and attentions plus chart potential it can do before Speak Now (TV) coming along. Also selling it at 10 US in the venue is good since most concert-goers will think $10 is a good price to pick up things they don't own yet. With the inflation we have currently across the globe, concert-goers I will assume also tight on money too. So something cheap will entice them to buy at least one (or even multiples) especially this item is currently not available physically anywhere else. People's thoughts will be saying I am buying something that is special and potential collectible. So that's why you also did not see the vinyl version of Late night edition is available on the site yet. (Taylor's team will probably do that in another way later....because vinyl is still a big moneymakers.)

If you met someone and they had never heard Taylor Swift before, which song would you play them first? Right Where You Left Me probably. It shows off all of her lyric skills while being a little upbeat. Then probably Style to show them what she’s like with pure pop

If you met someone and they had never heard Taylor Swift before, which song would you play them first? I found someone online who doesn't heard Taylor and she's requesting for suggestions. First I asked what type of music was she into, she said she liked upbeat songs. So I recommend "New Romantics", "Getaway Car" and "Blank Space". I said please get back to me after lostening to these songs. After that, she said she was obsessed, and literally became I fan. How do I know? I saw her last.fm account and she continued listening to other albums as well.

She really should continue selling CDs at her show. At $10 a pop it’s easily the cheapest “merch” aside from the light sticks (because I have two light sticks, a poster & two shirts from Houston and my friends and I gladly would’ve thrown a CD on top of our purchases in the moment lol).
