I've been noticing in the past couple of months that during the daily top 5 with Ryan Seacrest, Ryan will occasionally announce a song for a certain position and then my local CHR will play a different song with a similar name accidentally. In example, for today's countdown, Ryan announced the #5 song as Steve Lacy's "Bad Habit," and then my station played "Bad Habits" by Ed Sheeran instead. Another example from a couple months ago is that Ryan announced Halsey's "So Good", and then my station played "So Good" by Zara Larsson instead. A few years ago, I remember Ryan announcing DaBaby's "Rockstar," but Post Malone's "Rockstar" was played instead.
A different local CHR recently played "Kings and Queens" by Mat Kearney, and although it wasn't announced, I believe they meant to play the Ava Max song of the same name (since they never even played Mat Kearney's song when it was popular, so it doesn't make sense to play it now).
I guess this is an oddly specific concept for a thread so maybe no one else will have examples, but with how frequently I've noticed it lately on my local CHR, I'd be curious to know if anyone else has example of radio stations by them announcing a song and then accidentally playing the wrong song with a similar title.

I can’t think of any occurrences of this on my local CHR, but on the website they typically list Zedd and Hayley Williams’ Stay the Night in the playlist, when they actually play Stay by Zedd and Alessia Cara.

Sirius XM's 90s on 9 has done this in their flashback countdown on more than one occasion.

A bit of a different example, but in today's countdown, Ryan said that there was "never any doubt the #1 song of today is "Vegas" by Doja Cat." Given my station played Joji's "Glimpse of Us" instead of "Vegas," apparently there was indeed some doubt lol.

Not a verbal 'announcement' per se, but iHeart is absolutely terrible about mislabeling songs. They showed the original title for Madison Beer's "Hurts Like Hell" instead of "Hurts So Bad" for Radio Disney; every time Zedd & Alessia Cara's "Stay" plays on Hit Nation I've seen it credited as Zedd & Hayley Williams' "Stay The Night", and they've repeatedly shown the original title for The Black Eyed Peas' "Let's Get It Started", which no station is playing.
On every iHeart station, I have noticed that every once in a while a popular song pops up in the player as an obscure song in a foreign language, only to be fixed maybe 10 seconds later. It's like a bootleg version of Shazam.
When Radio Disney was running on autopilot, the outdated interviews about specific songs were playing nowhere near close to the artists, except by chance. An interview with the Jonas Brothers would lead into Jessica Simpson's "Irresistible".

I don't remember specifically which songs, but there are a couple songs that say "(Explicit Album Version)" in parentheses, and obviously stations are not playing the explicit version. On a related note to your second thing, occasionally the iHeart player will list some weird song that there's no way a CHR would actually be playing. There was one time iHeart's player claimed my CHR was playing Schubert's Symphony #5 lol.

The above post reminded me of the time the SiriusXM 80s countdown announced a Stevie Wonder song by stating that the album version was 11 minutes long but "we won't be playing that"...
...followed immediately by the 11 minute version

On SiriusXM they constantly mis-announce songs. They also do this thing called the Hit-Maker 5, which is a nightly countdown of 5 most-requested tracks, and it's always songs on the survey, so new songs/current songs. But recently "Ghost" and "One Kiss" along with "Heat Waves" were part of it.

My station has done this several times recently with "Die for You." They announce it as being by The Weeknd and then they play Joji's song of the same name.

In the PopCrush Top 25 Countdown airing for the year end of 2022, They announced "This song could make next year's list" and then played Ed Sheeran - "Bad Habits". I Think they meant to play Bad Habit by Steve Lacy, but i don't know since the host didn't announce it, a Station Imaging did.

This isn't a misannouncement per se, but I happened to glance at my station's playlist and this gave me a bit of a laugh (it should be "Too Good at Goodbyes").

Carson Daly of The Daly Download is starting to mess up songs EVERY WEEK i listen in:
- Conan Gray's "Never Ending Song" is now apparently "Never Ending Story" - Lewis Capaldi's "Wish You The Best" is now "Wish You Were Here"
He's done the "Wish You Were Here" one every week lol.

- Conan Gray's "Never Ending Song" is now apparently "Never Ending Story" Lol the first time I saw a thread for Conan here I mis-read it as 'Story' instead of 'Song'. I was like 'Conan that song bites what are you DOING.'

Years ago Ernie D. on Radio Disney mis-announced Thunder (or maybe it was Two Is Better than One): "by Boys Like Boys, I mean Boys Like Girls."

I don't know if they announce the wrong artist on-air, but I noticed this when glancing at the playlist for one of my local stations. Wrong female rapper lol.

Radio is apparently playing bootleg AI versions of songs now? lol It's obviously a mislabeling of "Agora Hills" on the iHeart playlist, but it's very weird they would even have an unofficial AI version of a song in their system in the first place.
