Surprised this is more polarizing than piled with bottom ranks. Admittedly it has a great southern rock sound but I don't like his vocals which feels too growly to me (this is after listening to many growling male vocals in country music lol).

Must be tough to perform your son's song about death.

Unpopular opinion but I need Rhiannon Giddens making original music rather than folk covers stat (in other words, the Natalia Lafourcade moment).

I really thought y'all would like Sierra Ferrell a bit more. Her takes on traditional music are more interesting than her peers imo.

For some reason his vocals remind me of slightly wilder Vince Gill.

14 places improvement from AAA rankdown. Also Pulse is saying no to most of the big hits this year, except you know what songs.

Really don't like the verse. Rolling Stone seems to have a hard on with this dude as they like to include him in their year-end best-of country lists. Both albums I am not a fan of.

Y'all need to listen this again, particularly foe the melody. It creeps on your brain before you know it. Also new album on January 27th.

I’m kinda surprised I’m at the top end of closeness lol
I’ll be honest, I don’t fully remember a good amount of these but glad to know most of my bottom 10 is gone!

I see a couple more great songs by Nathaniel Rateliff which I'm happy to revisit and rank again. Also, this performance of him along with the Night Sweats is why I've become such a huge fan.

Can't Let Go Robert Plant & Alison Krauss
This should've been a top 20 contender (at a minimum) for this rankdown.

This should've been a top 20 contender (at a minimum) for this rankdown. I will rank Searching for My Love higher next year. This was fine, but I just find this version kind of pointless when Lucinda Williams' version is far superior imo.

The fact that this has a solid blues groove helps it to be around the middle of my rankings.
