She really said f**k you with this album.
I enjoy The Drama. The rest was skippable.

Only Love Can Save Us Now The Drama Peace & Quiet
She's given us countless bops and bangers over the last 13 years. I respect this being the album she needed to make.

I actually dislike it less than I thought I would. Def last place amongst all her (stellar) albums, but I have a feeling this is more diary and she didn’t want to give Luke any more of her hits. I know it’s bad to say, but get it out of your system and then bring on Ke$ha!

Her highest reviewed album. YES! I need to hear more clips before deciding to purchase this, but like what I have heard so far.

It's definitely a fascinating listen, lyrically she's really opening up. There's a way to harness that raw personal energy she's going for and channel it into something more relistenable though. She's ridden that line before, so we know she can. This is clearly a statement album she felt she needed to make. And while I appreciate it for that, not sure if I'm gonna revisit it much.
"All I Need Is You" and "Hate Me Harder" are the immediate standouts for me.

This might be my favorite album from her lol, keeping in mind that she has always been a singles artist to me rather than someone where I loved entire cds. It reminds me of Halsey's album where, yeah, there aren't catchy bangers, but jesus, what a cohesive, raw, personal concept album.

This album was better than expected on first listen based upon the reactions in this thread. It sounds like a grower for sure, there's a lot to like and I'm glad she didn't completely abandon her signature sound for this records (e.g. Peace & Quiet, Only Love Can Save Us Now). I actually think the opener is my favorite, but this album needs more listens to be sure.

This album definitely shows off her voice and her depth as an artist. Lyrically especially, this is very well written. It’s not necessarily the kind of album I can see myself playing the f**k out of but it’s very well done. Kinda cool if this is her last album with Dr. Luke’s label for this to just be an artistic stretch/personal project.

My opinion has completely changed now…I like every song. It definitely clicks when you take a second to actually sit with it and take it in.

gets a 7.1 from Pitchfork, surpassing Rainbow's 6.8 as her highest mark (that isn't a retrospective review -- Animal got a 7.3 in 2021).
I really enjoyed this album. "The Drama" is my favorite on the first listen, but it's a great experience from top to bottom.

It’s not instant… but once it clicks, holy hell. What an artistic triumph from this artist who’s been through so much.

I'm going into in right now for this first time, and y'all I'm high, so this is going to be an experience! Something to Believe In - It's so dark in the beginning and then it turns into Gwen Stefani's "Wind It Up," but by Kerli. Somehow that's a big compliment from me. I really love the vibe of this. It's freaky, bewitching vibes. An absolute epic album opener. Already can tell this is going to be one of main highlights for me. Eat the Acid - I'll admit this didn't leave much of an impression the first time I heard this, but the more I hear it, the more I'm really into this. The instrumental is so 8-bit Nintendo adventure game, the lyrics, while repetitive, really strike a chord with me. It comes together for such a unique vibe Kesha hasn't explored much before. It's growing so quickly on me, in fact, I do believe it may eventually rival some of the best singles of her career for me. Living In My Head - This intro is giving ethereal The Hunger Games soundtrack. My god these lyrics. I've been here. During the time period of when the aforementioned film released. That series was one of the few things that was giving me comfort through the difficult point in my life, so it's honestly wild to hear a song combating those traumas set in the sonic time period of when I also went through that. Anyway, this is very good. Fine Line - This one left even less of an impression on me than "Eat the Acid," but what's weird is that it's certainly the more "hookier" of the two songs, but the essentially spoken word verses basically kill any of that lol. That being said, this too has grown on me. Not nearly as much as "Eat the Acid," mind you, but enough to where it no longer feels like a disappointing listen. My favorite part of the song is the beat switch. The "fiiiiiiiine line" melody is eery and gorgeous. Wish the whole song was in that vein. Only Love Can Save Us Now - OH SHIIIIIIIT!!! Ke$ha isn't dead, she's still here, bitches!!! Villain vibes for real! Oh, but not the chorus wtf lol. We went into jazzy Phillip Phillips or something. I'm f**king here for it, though! Soorta reminds me of "Boots" from Rainbow or "Raising Hell" from High Road in that vibe. The verses, though, are VERY "Sleazy" meets Taylor Swift's "Look What You Made Me Do." Slay. Another immediate highlight, wow. "GET THE HOLY WATER!" All I Need Is You - Ooh, a bassoon intro?! We stan. Now that it's kicked in, it feels very video gamey as well, but a late-2010s lo-fi vibe indie PC game. (Or hell, vaguely Minecraft? lol) Kesha sounds very pretty here, but I do have to admit this one is struggling a bit to keep much of my attention. The Drama - Well now it's PS1 era video game music. I swear this album was inspired by stone video games lol. Oh Jesus that beat change! That was very in your face in kind of a humorous way. That weird electrified horn sound is... a choice for sure. This is definitely the most colorful of the tracks thus far lol. It's this album's weird track. Oh, now we got some electric guitars? What a hot mess of a song lol. I guess that's part of Kesha's appeal though. Oh... the come back as a house cat outro... that... exists. f**k, I'm too high for this outro what the hell. Too Far Gone - Ohh this piano/bass drum combo here is really scratching an itch. Oh my god this instrumental is absolutely stunning! This could be a sci-fi film score. I love the rawness of Kesha's vocal here. It really brings a heartbreaking vibe to the track. LOVE the choir background! Found another major album highlight. Peace & Quiet - OOOH GO OFF, BEAT! These vocal effects are fun lol. Ooh, this prechorus instrumental is SICK! Excuse me, is that the Halloween decoration noise in the chorus?! f**k, I love this one! Why is it giving late 90s/early 00s dance music and early 10s dance music at the same time? Seriously, this vocal run is just one of these, right? Hate Me Harder - I like the melody in the pre-chorus. Haven't had much so far that's really stood out here. I don't think this is a bad song by any means, but it does or seem to just be here. A passable album track here. Not quite filler because it's not really generic per se, but within the same vein. Happy - I'm just sitting here, completely lost in this song. Absolutely beautiful track, LOVE the callback to Rainbow, the pre-chorus HITS me hard for some reason, then the chorus just whisks me away to a comforting place. Stunning. The tambourines!!! I love this one a lot. So, High Road didn't really impress me much and just isn't something I really revisit much, and I was afraid this album was going be that album, but a "more eclectic/artsy" version of it. Thankfully, that's not quite what we got. We instead got a more experimental dark vibe Kesha hasn't really explored much into, but I personally think she nails it. Immediately, I like this more than High Road by a country mile. With time and digestion, I can see this really growing to be one of my favorite albums from her. I really enjoy this direction for her. Lyrically, it's easily right up there Rainbow. It's really raw, real, confident yet vulnerable when it needs to be, an absolute treasure trove of songwriting skillsmanship here. But it's lacking a lot of the draw Rainbow had with it's more coherent and entertaining production and melodic writing. Guess you could say this is the artsy version of Rainbow. Kesha trying a folklore. It works in many ways, but it others it's lacking, which is what's keeping me from ranking this anywhere near her first 3 projects, but it is a wonderful improvement from the last album and a beautiful showcase of Kesha's writing talents and voice. (I didn't mention it much, but I think this is her strongest album vocally.) Highlights: Something to Believe In Eat the Acid Only Love Can Save Us Now Too Far Gone Peace & Quiet Happy

She served up some Fiona Apple especially on The Drama, anyways good album overall and I respect it more than I love it since its good for her get this stuff out of her system and as her last album part of her record deal. It will definitely be the type of record that takes time to get soaked into.

OMG, is this a new development?! EASILY her best album. I love the way this is produced, I love Kesha's vocal performances. I just think she nailed the execution. Rick Rubin was needed and I am so happy that he let Kesha be Kesha. It paid off big time. One of the best albums of the year, thus far. 1. Too Far Gone (A masterpiece.) 2. All I Need Is You (Beautiful) 3. Hate Me Harder (Stunning.) 4. The Drama (YES TO ALL THE INSANITY.) 5. Only Love Can Save Us Now (A bop and a half) 6. Fine Line (I fuck with this heavy.) 7. Eat The Acid (This song lives in my head for some reason.) 8. Happy 9. Peace & Quiet 10. Living In My Head 11. Something To Believe In 12. Ram Dass Interlude 13. Only Love Reprise

As long as this doesn't prevent other labels from wanting to work with her then it's all good. I do want to see her have some kind of success in the future.

Animal: #1, 152k.
Cannibal: #15, 74k.
Warrior: #6, 85k.
Rainbow: #1, 117k SPS (90k sales).
The High Road: #7, 45k SPS (35k sales).
Gag Order: #187, 8.3k SPS.
I think had they tried to push some kind of “single” ahead of the album release, it would’ve fared better but, if this is indeed her last album under Puke, I understand why she’d want to just get it out there and move on.

New peak on the BB200 this week thanks to the vinyls. Probably would've done like 17K first week if the vinyls were shipped at the same time.
