I'm expecting this to have massive losses once it reaches #1, which is a shame as I really enjoy the original. But it'll make a lot of room for "Cruel Summer" to smash so it's a bittersweet kind of thing.

Cruel Summer is #6 on streaming and this is barely top 40 with arguably the biggest female rapper in music rn Ice Spice is not the biggest anything lol. She has one legitimate hit and has only ever charted two songs (both as the featured artist). |

Cruel Summer is #6 on streaming and this is barely top 40 with arguably the biggest female rapper in music rn Ice Spice is not the biggest anything lol. She has one legitimate hit and has only ever charted two songs (both as the featured artist). Even if Ice Spice had two legitimate hits, how would that make her the biggest female rapper in music? I mean did Coi, Latto, Saweetie, Megan, Hot City Girls, Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, etc. all die in a bus crash? |

Is the "Ice Spice" version getting played on any radio stations? The only explanation for IS receiving credit on H100 for second week must be radio playing the remix in big numbers. The video isn’t doing significant numbers and OG is solid leader in streaming + sales. I still find it hard to believe the remix is 50.01% of points though. |

"Karma" is literally closing in on #1 and its only competition atp is just songs that have been lingering around at the top for months after hitting the top because radio won't let them die. There's 0 reason for her team/label to want to just completely drop this when another #1 at CHR is clearly in sight within a couple weeks tops, for a song like "Cruel Summer" that's clearly going to smash and be fine regardless. There's plenty of time to pivot more attention to it once "Karma" hits the top, and it won't effect CS becoming a hit. Right. It makes no sense. CS will be Taylor's fourth pop radio hit of the Eras Era  |

I think the label will push this to number one, but if it peaked now; I would be happy. Three top fives on pop in a row, she hasn't done this since 1989.
Not to mention, I think Cruel Summer has the potential to be a signature song, while this would be just another hit in her catalog.

I gotta be honest, I understand why they chose to release this (as inarguably it's one of the most, if not the most, radio-friendly songs left on Midnights), but I always found it so bland and it's always ranked at the bottom of Midnights for me personally alongside "Question...?" Some of the lyrics are just embarrassingly corny. Glad we're nearing the end of its climb. lol
