I gotta be honest, I understand why they chose to release this (as inarguably it's one of the most, if not the most, radio-friendly songs left on Midnights), but I always found it so bland and it's always ranked at the bottom of Midnights for me personally alongside "Question...?" Some of the lyrics are just embarrassingly corny. Glad we're nearing the end of its climb. lol The radio edit of the song is almost unlistenable. Vegas acrobat makes me cringe so hard.

If this doesn't reach #1 on Pop i'm blaming the radio edit

Iβm always all for Taylor getting another #1 and I would especially love for Midnights to boast two of them. But I would also be perfectly happy with a #3 peak. Cruel Summer is the moment and thatβs what I need to see at the top.

It's been discussed but it bears repeating... but when's the last time we saw an artist comeback to radio supremacy like this?

It's been discussed but it bears repeating... but when's the last time we saw an artist comeback to radio supremacy like this? first one I can think of is mariah carey in 2005 Careful, last time someone said Midnights was her Emancipation of Mimi, people lost their minds and thought that meant we were calling her a collosal flop during the rep and Lover eras or something. Anyway, yeah, there aren't very many examples of an artist being a radio darling, then having a string of underperforming years at radio, only to turn around and be a massive success again. Most are artists that were big, then faded, but had one more surprise big radio out a few years later, such as Kelly Clarkson or Miley Cyrus. Other than Mariah, Maroon 5 also comes to mind. Several radio smashes during their first two eras, but by the end of their second era, they began slipping. Their third album managed to get some support for the lead, but ultimately their third era struggled at radio compared to their first two. Then came Moves Like Jagger/The Voice and Maroon 5 scored many smash radio hits for a damn decade afterwards. Britney Spears could also work here. She had a strong showing at radio for her first two eras only to have her third album struggle hard for sufficient airplay and even her fourth album was mixed given that it produced two radio hits, but the other two singles struggled. And that acted as her last hurrah really until Circus brought her back to radio's good graces for a few years. P!nk could also fit with being big on radio for her first two albums, but struggled with the third and even the beginning of the fourth until U+ Ur Hand resurrected her career. Taylor is in pretty iconic company with this ability. (And then there's Maroon 5.)

I mean...Taylor was kind of in a rut during Rep and Lover on Pop radio but every single still made Top 20. I think people overexagerate that time. Her situation and Mariah's are nowhere near the same. Lol

Itβll need better updates for it to make it to #1 this Sunday IMO, it's less about how much this gains and more about how much Miguel loses. This has been getting fairly consistent and good updates the last 3 days or so, but Miguel has been all over the place, randomly gaining then losing, making it harder to predict than this. If Sure Thing finally starts getting consistent decent losses, then this doesn't need to alter its updates at all to get to #1 by Sunday.

Imma need this to peak this week, regardless of where it does, because it needs to make room for the superior song.
I'm drunk in the back of the car and I cried like a baby coming home from the bar...

Yeah, this is inevitably hitting #1 in a couple weeks TOPS and will not affect "Cruel Summer" continuing to smash its way up the chart, so there's 0 benefit to just pulling the plug on this now when an easy #1 is well within grabs, lol. "Karma" will probably drop quickly once it reaches the top too and be even less of a hindrance to radio upping the airplay for "Cruel Summer."

If/when this does go to #1, it felt like it was an easy enough climb. I thought LH would have a similar push to the top

I think "Anti-Hero" was way too big still for "Lavender Haze" to rise so easily. Plus this actually got the remix and the push.
It's nice to see her getting consistent airplay again. Those Lover singles were really hard to watch during their CHR runs, particularly the title track that deserved better.

It deserved better but Iβm glad it got an official release. In the long run I think it will be a staple in her discography like YNTCD has become.
