7 Worlds Collide is a charity project headed by Neil Finn of Split Enz/Crowded House/The Finn Brothers fame. This track is the project’s sole AAA-charting single & features KT Tunstall on vocals.

We missed out on the chance to rank 2 DMB songs this rankdown. And we were stuck ranking the one that DIDN’T have “monkey” in the title :\

We’ll be seeing a lot more of Ben Harper (and/or his Relentless7/Innocent Criminals) in the AAA rankdowns of the 90s and 2000s. This is a pretty cool song from him too.

From Ben Folds’ sole collaborative project with English author & writer Nick Hornby. Can’t say I’ve seen a collaborative project between a musician & writer like this before, but I would’ve loved to rank this, I really like this one.

This song, featuring Canadian singer-songwriter Martha Wainwright on vocals, originally released in 2006 on Eyes Open, but only charted in 2010 due to extensive use in trailers for the Nicholas Sparks film Dear John (also leading to a #54 peak on the Hot 100).

At least I cleared my tank, but you all were cruel tonight. 40. Oh My - Gin WigmoreObviously I was gonna like this. Truthfully one of the most Rocking jams here. Little bit like Samantha Fish. I thought for sure my top 15 rank would be the highest. Oh yeah before I forget. First time listen for me, but surely a song that would have been top 10 for me back then. 39. Beg Steal or Borrow - Ray LaMontagneThe music isn't all terrible. It has a country feel, but I really didn't care for the vocalist. At times he sounds like a deep toned female voice to me, which was a complete tune out in his case. 38. I Should Have Known It - Tom Petty and the HeartbreakersNever heard it. I liked that it rocked, but truthfully if someone else had sung it I would have given it a low 60's. It just doesn't have any hook whatsover. Let's just say the voice of Tom Petty has a lot of muscle on these Rds. 37. Breakeven - The ScriptSeriously? My brain can't even begin to comprehand this low rank. This is such a superb ,crafty, emotional song. awesome composition, beautiful lyrics. Danny's vocals are perfect for the theme. So it is really just a hatred for emotinal breakup songs. That explains Train, Parachute, Brayan Adams, even Journey. It was never even about Glam Metal Powerballads? Was it? I can't wait to see where "The Man Who Can't be Moved" lands. Eitherway shock of 2022. I'm using one of my iconic father figures here to react to this nonsence rank. 35. Halfway Gone - LifehouseA double whammy on emotional songs. Where elese can we get the chance to rank Lifehouse if not on this format? Anyay, Easy top 10 for me. Even on my own charts. Just flows nicely form start to finish. 34. King of Anything - Sara Bareillesand the kicks to the groin keep on comming. I know this is considered a "chick" song, and not at all popular with guys, but its really catchy and melodic. Girl power? Why not? I miss this kind of music on the charts period. 33. Song Away - HockeyIt's like I'm on the floor all you all keep whacking me with sledghammers. Let me recoop a bit. I had a feeling this one might underperform on this RD. They were pretty unkown. In fact they came up on youtube when I was searching for Cars music. I discovered it and charted it. Surprised as hell to see it on this list, since I didn't follow AAA back then, but knew my job here wa to upgrade it into my top 3. Comon you can't deny this had a little Ric Ocasek in the production. Especially his 2000 and up solo albums. 32. Fade Like a Shadow - KT TunstallI didn't recall this one, but it quickly pulled me in. Dug here raspy style vocals. very melodic. Women and guitars is my soft spot. My type of AAA vibe. 31. Head Full of Doubt/Road Full of Promise - The Avett Brothersas Lennie James would say "CLEAR". Nothing bad to say about this type of music. It just isn't ,nor will it ever be my brand of beer. 28. Fireflies - Owl CityFirst off. I hate this song. Sounds like something some kid with a toy piano would create in his mother's basement. I would have drowned it in the tank if I could, but honestly it didn't sound as bad as those other songs I tanked, but I still hate it. I do love "Good Time" the song he sings with Carly Rae Jepsen. That's a lovely little bop. 27. Amongst the Waves - Pearl JamBoth of the Pearl jam songs were compltet snoozers, but Eddie and his crooning has established himself in my music archives. I had no choice but to rank it a lot highet than it desreved. 24. Just Breathe - Pearl JamFolky Pearl Jam. No. Just no. 23. It’s Gonna Be - Norah JonesAt least we got something right tonight. Love her vocals. I just hope you all played nice with her other song. 22. Little Lion Man - Mumford & SonsI never got into this band or hype. 'nuff said. 21. Uprising - MuseWonder how many under ranked this because it sounds to ALernative Rock? Anyway, Easy top 10 for me. Love the song weather it appears on a AAA or even CHR music rankdown. It just bangs from start to finish. Extras: Three of these were top 10's on my pesonal charts. can you guess which? Mockingbird - Rob ThomasRob continued his string of hits after Matchbox 20. He sounds great on this one. The songs flows so perfectly It could have been a Lifehouse song. others that caught my ear.Captive - Sarah HarmerObviously this one for female vocals. Flows nicely and pretty melodic. Sounds like a song I would give top 20 action too. Trouble Comes Running - Spoonback then the only Spoon song I ever charted was "I Turn My Camera On". This one sounds pretty tight around the guitars. American Slang - The Gaslight AnthemAnother one I would probably give high rank to, for its rock oriented feel. New Fang - Them Crooked VulturesThis Supergroup also found its way onto my charts. "jon" Queens of The Stone Age sounded great fronting all that guitar action. Kings and Queens - Thirty Seconds to MarsI didn't get a hard-on for every Thirty Seconds To Mars song like the rest of the world did. I do love some of thier songs. This one was ok for it's U2 vibe. I might be cooling off on thier songs with the passing of the years? Shark in the Water – V V BrownSounds like a canddiate for CHR pop cruise over. I like her vocals. The songs is alright. Whatever It Takes – LifehouseThis was the jam. I might have put this as my #1 song? Spent 7 weeks on my #3 slot. Finished of at #16 for my YE list. Higher than "Half Way Gone". One of the voices I miss most in music. I 've heard their new stuff, but it isn't as powerful as thier old stuff. Don't tell Gorminako I said that tho. Anyway, this video here sounds more like a promo than the actual song?

{I MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE FALLEN ASLEEP}#33: My favorite part about this isn't just ranking Hockey a second time, it's that, unless it's in 2009, it's not the Alt song. #32: Pleasant, not annoying, generally listenable...pretty much describes what I've heard from KT. #31: Glad this is their best performer so far, and by a decent margin. I wish that "February Seven" didn't get so shafted, but this will do as an alternative. #30: I don't think that this is one of their best songs, but I have yet to hear a truly bad Wilco song. #29: You're surprised this did so well, but I'm stunned. I definitely underranked this, but I'm still kind of baffled this did so well. #28: 2009 Alt was just...weird, with weird results. A couple of songs made the top ten that 100% wouldn't today, a couple of songs that missed would be top ten or top five now, etc. This missing the top half isn't one of the weirdest results, but it would definitely be higher there today. #27: I'm surprised that they got this close to having both of their songs make the top 25. After it barely snuck into the top half the last time we ranked it, I'll take this. #26: Yeah, reading up on who Wilkins was was a lot of fun, and probably the most fun I had surrounding this song in general. That said, the song itself is solid. #25: Man, what is it with us and keeping Delta Spirit from making the top 15? #24: I am a little surprised there isn't more of a gap, too, but I thought "Amongst the Waves" would be quite a bit lower. This is about where I expected this to fall. At least it did better here than on Alt. #23: Good stuff here, but I'm glad the other one is higher. #22: Knew this would be their best performer, but I also expected to rank it much lower, and that did not happen. #21: Don't even put that potential evil on us, wheat. I find it so odd that this charted on AAA. Like, really, this? I'm not sure if it charted on the format or not, but at least something like "Starlight" would fit better than "Uprising". Oh look, a Black Keys song has overstayed, I'm so shocked

Still feels wack putting Fireflies #1 because it totally got on this list by the technicality of being a big hit and spreading everywhere. Billboard's insistence on calling Fireflies alternative is the dumbest thing. Unfortunately it's a contender for my favorite song ever so I had to stick it up there, like a jack-o'-lantern on top of a Christmas tree.
More pressingly, I definitely didn't rank Uprising where it says I ranked it. It was my #11. I do see there is someone there who put it at #11 so is this just a case of the names being mixed up or are the numbers wrong?

I do see there is someone there who put it at #11 so is this just a case of the names being mixed up or are the numbers wrong? Okay, yeah, math is right, it just switched with Jamie Cullum Wheels in the reveals. For a general post here since this has happened a lot...for some reason my spreadsheet will sometimes switch the positions of two songs when I'm formatting the reveals. I don't know why it happens! But it only affects the reveal posts, not the actual math itself. I think I caught onto it for the last half of lists submitted and know how to prevent it from happening going forward, but if you do see a reveal post where your position is wrong and it seems to be swapped with another song, that's what happened. I've managed to couple more swaps in this last set of reveals just looking at it, but if you do see something wrong just let me know and I can fix the reveal post, it's probably nothing wrong with the deeper rankdown results. Sorry for the scare!

It was VERY cool to see this one holding onto the #1 spot for so long near the beginning there. Would have even liked to see it finish in the top 10, so, even though this is a new peak for Grace, it is a little disappointing to see it so low. I had never heard this one before, but this is probably my favorite Grace Potter song now, that guitar solo towards the end is so good.
