In al seriousness, this is an amazing song and as soon as I saw it on the list, I put it at #1. I've talked before about the good memories from 2010 and PES, but this one takes the cake.

If I couldn't give up "The Suburbs", giving up an RFS song was a lost cause before it even began, especially one that played such a big role for me at around this time.
I wish men didn't suck.

That's it for me! Hope y'all enjoyed the 2010 AAA rankdown, I had fun hosting it...this is the first time I've ever actually finished revealing for a rankdown (or even got past the first set), so I feel pretty good about it. Will hopefully host again in the future.
I think this is where I would plug some other rankdowns, but I think we're doing 2022 year-ends next?

great winner!! was worried somebody could screw the win for 1901! It's okay, you can say you were worried about me, Leo. This is probably what would happen on Alt now (well, the winner, anyway, I don't know if "Crossfire" makes the top two there now...maybe), and...yeah, looking back, "1901" not winning Alt was a really poor decision that I helped to make happen. I still think it's overrated, but it's overrated in the sense that it's a good song that people prop up as an all-timer (like "1979", for example), not a mediocre or even a bad song that I was mystified by the rapturous response that it always received in Pulse games. Time can heal some wounds, I guess. wheatsquares33, don't beat yourself up over your sheet giving you issues. For a first time hosting a big rankdown, you did great.

Looks like we are drilling this one all the way tonight.
20. Tighten Up - The Black KeysNo brainer to land in the top 20 since I didn't know many of these other songs to begin with. Good rocker. Holds up the against the test of time. 19. Tiny Light - Grace Potter & the NocturnalsNow I know she had other great songs besides "ooh lala...". I feel I missed out on her songs back then. Man she has pipes. Also my favorite first time descovery. 18. Junebug - Robert FrancisThis one was alright. Might have ended higher on my list if I was more familar with it. 17. Chasing Pirates - Norah JonesYou all blew it. This song should have been the highest perfromer for a female on this list. Easily the most pleasnet/catchy song of the bunch. This was another song I discovered on my own back then. Didn't even know it charted. Or that it went to #1 for that matter. Good for her. 16. Written in Reverse - SpoonThis song is anyhtng but catchy, yet it kinda enticed me. Probably because it sounds like the band was just jamming. 15. The Ghost Inside - Broken BellsNot too familar with this bands songs prior to "After The Disco". This one is alright, but the vocals can get annoying at times. 14. The Blackest Lily - Corinne Bailey RaeAnother jam I could put in my top 5 favorite discoveries list. Has a lot of soul and rides a mean bassline. Great chorus. 13. Just Say Yes - Snow Patrol Jeez Can you guys leave me with at least one top 10 song before we reach the actual Top 10 here? Anyway I really love this band, but this is a far back as I discovered them. Still love that synthesized intro the best. 12. The Suburbs - Arcade Fire I really didn't know about this band before "Refleltor". Their sound was quite different then say "Creature Comfort". That's the style I like for them. This one is passable. Kinda too piano saloon-ish for me. 11. Dreams - Brandi CarlileOne of the least exciting female sung tunes on the list. I like the upotempo chorus. Extras:Here are the ones I didn't click away from. few of these made my charts as well.Need You Now – Lady AI remeber this one well. Very pleasant country feel to it. Both female and male vocals are very good. Mistletoe – Colbie CaillatI just love her vocals. Easy top half for me. That Year - Brandi CarlileI actually like this one better than the song at #11. You know she is riding the melody of "The Man Who Can't Be Moved" from The Script. No wonder I love it. Between the Lines – Stone Temple PilotsThe reunion of the Stone Temple Pilots was a milestone for me. I charted no less then five tracks of this album. "Take A Load Off" "Bag Man" "First Kiss On Mars, Cinnamon: and this jam. All top 10 hits. Screw the Industry for taking Scott from us. Oh and this would have been my hands down #1 song on this AAA list. You all know it too. Sink or Swim – Tyrone WellsSurprisingly this was pretty alright. Sounds like a Lifehouse melody. Had I known of this song back then it might have ended up in my top 30. Forgiveness – Sarah McLachlanNot big on Pure piano ballads, but she sounds good. Good vocals go a long way. Free Me – Joss StoneThis was pretty cool. has an Authentic 70's feel to it. Janis Joplin style. Soldier of Love – SadeI had no idea Sade charted that year. I didn't care for this song at all. I get the drums sounding like army parade, but I didn't care for that. Didn't get that Sophistipop vibe from her 80's songs. Home – Goo Goo DollsThis is one I charted myself. Good song. They always have those choruses that pull you in. Stay – BodeansI wouldn't quite give this a thumbs up, but I didn't click away either. It had its momnets. Misery – Maroon 5Maroon 5 when they still sounded like an actual band. Hell yes I charted this one. it grooves proper. #10. Wheels - Foo FightersYou guys are relentless. Thank you I guess? I still have one more to go. Hopefully top 3? Anyway, Foo Fighters channeling Tom Petty Heartland Rock. Loved it at first listen. #9. Laredo - Band of Horses I've heard this one on some past Rds. Too many guys singing at the same time for me to handle. Not a bad melodic tune tho. #8. Notion - Kings of LeonThis band I knew about , so thier songs are usually safe with me on RDs. They have hooks galore, so they don't need to be fast for me to dig. #7. Meet Me on the Equinox - Death Cab for CutieNot a huge hit for me back then, but it grows on me with every RD it shows up on. Still not strong enogh to crack my top 10 crown songs, but maybe someday? #6. The High Road - Broken Bells I guess you all really like this band. At least his vocals don't go all girly on this one. #5. Sweet Disposition - The Temper TrapOne of the songs I only discovered on PULSE rds. I still don't get that full on PULSE hard -on like the rest of you, but I like the U2 sounding guitars. Vocals are the least aspect I like. I don't wanna say a little too croony ,because Danny croons a lot more in The Script but he doesn't sound as yodell-ish as this guy, but the song has a good flow so waht the hell. This is me liking one of your favs like the way you liked my favs. #4. Ready to Start - Arcade FireAnotherone of those songs I only discovered on PULSE rds. I like the harder edge this one has with its guitars. His vocals sound more like they did in "Reflektor". #3. Lisztomania - Phoenix...and yet another one I discovered on PULSE. I like tis one, but nothing can ever dethrone "Ti Amo" from my pedastal. #2. Crossfire - Brandon FlowersAt least I got this #2 ranking right. This song is Amazing, Spectacular and Beautiful all rolled into one. I even love the way it fades in the end with the bass guitar. This is how you take you vocals up a notch. #1. 1901 - PhoenixWoo Ha! , bet you all singing Hallelujah right about now? Great #1 song. This is probably one of the PULSE hard-on songs I was most familar with. The guitar hook is soooooooooo catchy. Just misses my top 10, but take just one song from my top 10 off this list and it gets a pass. wheatsquares33. Great job. I didn't know this was your first hosting. I think you did better even Red did one time. Idk, but great job. Loved alot of these extras. I really would have loved to put another STP on my #1 position.

Guess I should comment on some of the older results too. {Some comments} 100. Didn't expect this to be the first song out. I don't think it is that bad though. 99. "If a gentleman was a lady/Then the world would be Upside-Down" what does this line even mean? 98. This sounds in the most vanilla way as possible. 97. At least this feels different from Michael Franti. The vocals and lyrics still leave a lot to be desired though. 95. That is a terrifying cover. 94. Is he trying to do the la/lie "homophones"? Also knew him through Blake Shelton's God Gave Me You cover. What a weird introduction. 92. This lacks the soulness in delivery. 91. Sounds like a rent-a-rapper song. 88. It sounds children music to me. 87. This has a way too repetitive chorus. "Nothing" is desensitized to me after listening to this. 69. This has a solid melody so I hoped it would not leave so early. 67. After listening to some of his songs throughout rankdowns and his latest album, I can say I sm not a huge fan of Lyle Lovett. That said this song is still solid. I thought it would be more tanked though. 66. This is the grooviest Jack Johnson song I have heard till now. Wouldn't mind it to be higher but it leaving now is OK. 60. I just think the lyrics premise is silly. 48. Now that it was mentioned, I can recall I have heard similar vocals before. Wouldn't have guessed that though. 47. Surprised this is well received here. I thought this is cheesy. 44. This is one of the most popular moments of Americana/alt-country music and captures its essence well. 40. Part of her vocals reminds me of Elle King a bit. Mabe that's why I like this more than the others. 29. It's the easy-going melody that gives it an edge to his other songs in the rankdown. Also his metaphor of love and war is the best in this one comparing to other songs from the same album. 26. I like the small instrumental passage the most. It inherited the best urgency feeling from some of AF tracks. 23. Didn't expect two people would rank this higher than me. I may even like the live version in deluxe album better. Feels more psychedelic which hints the music style of her next album. 19. When I listened to this song through the playlist I had to check the artist. It is quite explosive for this group, but I can see it not holding up after more listens. Still this is what I feel about the song now, and it is great. 18. This is what the later era of Kings of Leon songs wants to be but failed. 17. The only "complaint" I would give to this song is that it's too short, because I feel there are still potential with how the melody can develop. Both Phoenix's songs are great bops, even though I listened to Birdy's cover of 1901 before the original lol
Thanks for the hosting, wheatsquares33. It seems I am good at picking out worst of the worst but not best of the best, both I have strong opinions of.

Aw man I was rooting for Lisztomania to beat 1901 but I didn't really expect either in the top three so it's not really a result I can complain about. I'm just sad that for like the fourth time, I enter the top twenty with most of my top ten still intact, and then they all leave in the #20-#11 range. I even had The High Road in my top ten in the first draft of my list but ended up moving it down! Lemme say those movements for Tiny Light were PAINFUL to see. Definitely one of the best discoveries I've ever made in a rankdown here. I didn't even know voices could do that... And most importantly thanks you very much wheatsquares33 for hosting this great list!
