I didn’t rank this one super high, but it was cool to see it spend the first half of the rankdown in the top 50, was rooting for it to stay there.

Jack Johnson, more like Jack Gone-son am I right. Probably not, but he is out of this rankdown entirely now. I think I said something to the effect of me really liking this song in the last rankdown we did, the re-listen did not prove that statement correct.

“Ugh, Half of My Heart :\” - my husband when this song came up on the playlist. I’m married to a long-time Michael’s employee who gets triggered by any song that’s been played on Michael’s radio for years.

Alpha Rev were a really hot AAA act at the beginning of the last decade, it seems. I had no idea they had such big hits, but I’ve always loved their song Face Down. This is the last time we’ll see them in retro rankdowns though.

Aww y’all did this one dirty. I really liked this one, it’s a really fun power pop jam. Kinda surprised it was as big a hit as it was, this screams “top 50 Mediabase extra” to me.

At or with Me was such a shock to my ears. Coming from Jack Johnson, it's not even necessarily because it was good, but because it was interesting.

Not much to write home about here. I figure I'll Ketchup in one night. What can I say? A lot of "Wilderness" Home on th range type stuff that I find hard to distinguish from one to the other so Just a generalization of some bad and good songs. Nice to see I have lost almost all my tank dwellars tho i could easily have crammed in another 20 songs in that tank. As always I'll probably have the most female sung songs in my top half. Kaan (WTF Kean), Michael Frante and Dirty Heads delivered some of the worst vocals I have heard since participating in a Pop Rd. Surprised you all didn't care for Natalie Merchant, but I'm not complaining either. and seriously What the actual F U C K was "Glow" Lost "Hey Soul Sister" but I knew I would, so I was just supporting a song I love that actually features banjos. As far as Parachute. Well now I know you guys hate them. #85. Train - If It's LoveI'm was always gonna ,looose these two Top 10 songs from Train. The funniest line in this song is when Pat croons "remember Winger?" Pat throws in the most iconic lyrics in his songs. Dropped KFc in "Drops Of Jupiter". ANyway, Is he singing about 80's Glam Metal icons Winger? F U C K yeah I remeber Winger. #70. (If You’re Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To - WeezerA decent Weezer upbeat, tounge twister of a song I recall charting. #68. At or With Me - Jack JohnsonThe music video makes the song more fun, but it is pretty catchy on its own. #67. Half of My Heart - John MayerI don't wanna say my favorite John mayer song, cuz I don't have any, but it is pretty pleasant. It's also the one I recall most from back then and the one I charted for a few weeks. #64. New Morning - Alpha RevNot sure if it was a first time listen, but I found it pretty tolerable borderline catchy. My #23 rank is a statment that this is really one of the best songs I discovered among this group of songs.

{SORRY, WAS A BIT TIRED LAST NIGHT}#80: Eh, he's been more boring than this, anyway. #79: Good lord, this was a snoozefest. Usually, even at their worst, BNL are interesting, but this just had nothing to offer. #78: This was alright, I guess, but my least favorite of the Mayer songs here. #77: You know, I completely forgot that we had ranked this band before. I'm not even sure if I remember their other songs, but this was probably less interesting than any of those songs. #76: Ehhhhhhhhh. #75: Even for Jack, this was lame. #74: I cannot say, in good conscience, that this was any lamer or more boring than DMB's usual fare. That said, if a song of theirs makes the 2009 list, I might actually be kinder to Dave than usual. #73: This was okay, but I know they have better. Like their other song here, for example. #72: Well, you took the words out of my mouth with this one. Just nothing to work with here, really. #71: Much like "Lay Me Down", I'm stunned that I ranked this as high as I did. Is this possibly better than I remembered, or was this list particularly boring at the bottom? (It's probably the latter.) #70: I knew this song would get me into a little trouble eventually. It's not a great song, by any stretch of the imagination, but it's fine. #69: This was fine. #68: I wouldn't be surprised if the last Jack song either shows up really soon or lasts a little longer, to be honest, but they're going out in the order that I expected. #67: Three bottom tens for this lol #66: Well, even though I said "shows up really soon", I didn't think it would be literally two reveals after. He's made worse. #65: ooooh, I expected this to last longer, given who else is performing on this song. Not bad, at any rate. #64: "Phoenix Burn", this wasn't. #63: Not particularly great that I dropped this by four spots with a bottom 40. Couldn't really get into this, but it was alright. #62: And me only boosting this by one ahead of "Shady Esperanto" is REALLY not great. I remember liking "Rainbow", but I'm not sure if it was better than this. #61: I don't know, even with it being from her "prime", this wasn't very interesting to me. As weird as this sounds, I liked the more recent Sheryl song more lol

How about some extras? These Roads Don't Move - Jay Farrar f/ Ben Gibbard
You might recognize Jay Farrar as lead vocalist for alt-country bands Uncle Tupelo and Son Volt. This song is part of a collaborative project with Ben Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie that's the soundtrack of a documentary about Jack Kerouac?
Valleys of Neptune - Jimi Hendrix
Lead single for a posthumous Hendrix project released in 2010 of the same name. I feel this would've made my top 10 had we ranked it.
The Open Road - John Hiatt
We'll have PLENTY of opportunities to rank John Hiatt in upcoming retro AAA rankdowns.
Perfectly Lonely - John Mayer
While I am glad we didn't have to rank 4 John Mayer songs in this rankdown, I don't mind this one too much. Probably would've been my first or second highest ranked of his.
No Better Than This - John Mellencamp
I'm glad I didn't have to put together an artist history for Mellencamp this rankdown honestly...but it's only going to worst the deeper we get into retro AAA. He has a lot of AAA hits.
Any thoughts on these extras?

The Sweetest Thing - JJ Grey & Mofro
Thought I liked this one more than I do, re-listening to it now.
Birthday - Kings of Leon
Huh I've never even heard of this Kings of Leon song. It's ok.
In Sleep - Lissie
Damn, I didn't realize Lissie was charting all the way back in 2010. It's no Night Moves, but this is still pretty good. Think it could've done well here.
Burn It Down - Los Lobos
Despite being an act that we ranked not unfrequently in 80s Active rankdowns, Los Lobos will show up quite a few times in AAA retro rankdowns too. This is a pretty cool track from them too.
Livin the Life - Martin Sexton
So I won a wine fridge at my husband's work Christmas party? They had random drawings for prizes, I was like the second of 4 plus ones picked. Picked a medium sized box that felt empty, unwrapped the Christmas paper, had to open the box and pathetically struggle with the tape in front of a live audience, was a picture of a wine fridge that I had to pick up at the store. This thing's like $600, but I don't drink enough to warrant having it, so I'm gonna re-sell. Wouldn't fit in our car, so mother-in-law came into town to help us pick it up. My husband had to leave for work so it was literally. Me and my mother-and-law hauling this 100+ pound box up to our 3rd floor apartment, took like 15 minutes and sucked so bad. I don't have anything to say about Livin the Life by Martin Sexton though.

Haven't Met You Yet - Michael Buble
Kinda weird to think that at one time Michael Buble had a non-Christmas song in the top 40.
Bitter Pill - Mt. Desolation
Alt-country side project by the singer and bassist for Keane. This is pretty good.
Resistance - Muse
A lot of the Muse songs I loved in high school haven't really held up over the years unfortunately...but Resistance isn't one of those songs, I still fuck with this one.
Walk with Me - Neil Young
Pretty cool Neil Young song here. He also did a version of this song with Pearl Jam which appears on their live album recorded later in 2010.
It's Only Paper - Ozomatli f/ Jack Johnson
I only know a couple Ozomatli songs, but they're bangers. Kinda excited to rank more from them in the future. This one's decent too, even the Jack Johnson feature isn't too bad.

If I Had My Way - Patty Griffin f/ Ann & Regina McCrary
From Patty Griffin's gospel album that consists mainly of traditional gospel songs and covers. This is a cover of a song by gospel-blues singer Rev. Gary Davis and features additional vocals from 2 members of gospel group The McCrary Sisters.
Precious Time - Rey Fresco
Graphic design is my passion.
Music in Me - Paula Cole
Even though Paula Cole is kind of a two-hit wonder, we'll be ranking more than her two biggest hits in retro AAA. Ngl, I wasn't expecting much from this one, but like. This really fuckin slaps what
Lasso - Phoenix
Could've ranked a third Phoenix song here. Remember when this song was in Rock Band 3 and Guitar Hero Warriors of Rock?
Boy - Ra Ra Riot
Strings on this one are gorg and I love the bass work as well. Cool chamber pop, would've liked to rank.
Any thoughts on these extras?

Thank god we didn't rank Michael Buble. How do I report staff for corruption? Buble would probably have been 1) out already and 2) my first top 10 loss.
