All signs seemed to be pointing towards “One Thing At A Time” as the next single, but now I wonder if the immediate success of “Last Night” could sway them instead. Great position to be in, either way they can’t go wrong.

Is this pushing for #1 this week, or just naturally outgaining Kane?

Sony is trying for 2 weeks with Kane. This week and next week, but it looks like Morgan might take this week. Morgan probably will probably sit at or around #1 naturally for the next month I would say.

Kane's push will be for two weeks, but Wallen's gaining fast and it's a natural gainer.
"Thank God" is just ahead of "Thought You Should Know" on both Mediabase and Billboard tracking but it'll be close. Both songs are huge hits at radio and digitally, but Morgan's star power is pretty unstoppable at the moment. "Thank God" is a huge hit and that's why they want two weeks at #1...but "Thought You Should Know" is making it very interesting.

And then there’s Luke Combs, Lainey Wilson and the Hardy/Lainey collaboration all behind and doing well at radio and digitally as well so we’ve got a conundrum ahead these upcoming weeks ahead.

It's absolutely nuts the amount of huge hits we have in/near the Top 10 (this, "Thank God", "Going Going Gone", "Heart Like A Truck", "Rock and A Hard Place", "Wait In The Truck") obviously this song is gonna spend a few weeks at #1 but all of the songs I listed are absolutely huge in so many ways and all deserve #1 definitively (as does "What He Didn't Do" even if it pails a bit in comparison to the resr). Hell we have two songs that both each spent two weeks at #1 ("What My World Spins Around" and "Whiskey On You").
The top of the radio chart right now is absolutely stacked.

For some reason I feel like this happens every once in a while where there will be a super stacked top 3/5/10. Happened last fall when “You Proof”, “She Had Me At Heads Carolina”, and “The Kind of Love We Make” were all around the top spot. In terms of this top 10, I hope many of the big hits (Morgan, Luke, Lainey, HARDY) can get at least a week or two at #1.

Hopefully Carly can pull a Reba and inexplicably jump from the back of the pack up to the top for a week, interrupting Morgan's multi-week stay at the top, and causing one of the other huge hits to miss out completely (you know, the iconic "Somebody"/"Live Like You Were Dying"/"I Go Back" scenario) I'm not convinced she'll make it otherwise...

I think she can get the MB #1 (I feel like "What He Didn't Do" is the "Wishful Drinking" in this scenario) but hopefully all of these massive songs ("Thought You Should Know", "Wait In The Truck", "Heart Like A Truck", "Rock And A Hard Place", "Going Going Gone") can hit #1 on both charts. Just stinks Carly Pearce has the worst timing ever.

Eh, Never Wanted To Be That Girl had a massive push and it ended up at #1 on Billboard and Mediabase. what He Didn"t Do should be fine.

Last Night is #1 on the Hot Country Songs chart, #3 on the Hot 100.

“Last Night” is already getting added to a ton of Pop stations. Hard to see it not being the next single. Could become a “Cruise” or “Body Like A Back Road” type of hit.

Both Last Night and I Wrote The Book are great new releases. I was not too keen on One Thing At A Time, so I would gladly welcome Last Night as the next single, even though it does not have the strongest country element in it.

Last Night is just Wasted On You and You Proof combined. Album title track at least feels somewhat fresh.

I hope they go with "One Thing at a Time" for country radio and make "Last Night" a CHR/pop radio-only single. I'm sure it would smash @ country for obvious reasons, but it's definitely one of his most poppy releases to date and with it taking off on that format on its own, I'd say this would be the perfect opportunity to do some dual-single action to milk multiple singles. Part of my reasoning behind that is selfish motivation because I don't like "Last Night" and would rather a stronger country track be the follow-up to "Thought You Should Know," but it wouldn't be a bad idea imo.

Sorry for the double post but “One Thing At A Time” entered the top 40 at #40 on Billboard as well. If “Thought You Should Know” gets multiple weeks it’ll be interesting to see how far up the chart “One Thing At A Time” before being an official single if it even does get released as a single.

Can "One Thing at a Time" please NOT be the next single? SO many better choices. Of the ones he's released, "I Wrote the Book" would be the best choice. After the listening party, it sounds like there are a lot of options.

After the listening party, it sounds like there are a lot of options. Agreed, but that song is huge already, so they'll follow the metrics. They will have some solid options for both country and pop radio with this record no doubt.

I'd personally go with "Last Night' to build on the already huge momentum it has.

I think "Last Night" should stay at pop radio. It's just not very good country, and OTAAT is a nice upbeat country track. It would be nice to have him do the dual single release thing here to maximize his reach imo. He can easily smash with multiple songs at once, and he's about to drop a 36-track record, so I say milk as many hits as they can from it at as many formats as possible.

Last Night debuts at 47 this week. An absolute smash already, which really shows how much value radio puts in streaming/viral hits
