2022 Wintertime Madness (COMPLETE)

BASED ON THE 2021 WINTERTIME MADNESS O.P., BUT PLEASE READ FOR ONE MAJOR CHANGE.

Season's greetings and welcome to another annual edition of Wintertime Madness! This is the first Madness I have ever hosted; I definitely have some big shoes to fill. Don't expect as much flash, but do expect a high standard of competence.

In WTM, each person sends a list of songs they've recently been enjoying, and people will be chosen in a random order to have their top 4 songs picked for the tournament (this means everyone, no matter when they submitted, has equal opportunity to receive their preferred selections). Once the songs have all been revealed, each seed (list of songs) will be put up for ranking by anyone who wants to participate (you can still send a list if you didn't submit any songs - the more the merrier!). Once each seed has finished, the top songs will be used in a final rankdown to determine the winner of Wintertime Madness 2022!

This is the 6th year we're doing this tournament, but we always have some amount of newbies, so here are the instructions: (if you're not totally familiar with the format, please read through all of the instructions before sending)

1) Pick at least 4 songs (you can choose as many as you want, but people tend to provide 8). These must be songs you've been enjoying between July and now (that have not been previously submitted), but they don't have to have been released in that time period. However, it's generally preferred that the songs are from the artist's most recent era if they weren't released in the last year or so, and most songs released prior to 2021 won't be counted. If you have any questions about specific songs, please PM me and I'll tell you whether they're eligible. A complete list of previously submitted songs will be included in a link at the bottom of the post below this, so please check them before sending anything. When submitting, please mention the lead artist(s), any featured artists and the song title (for example, Tears for Fears & Paulo Londra f/ Lil Baby - The World Is Yours to Take (Latin Remix / Budweiser Anthem of the FIFA World Cup 2022)).
1A) ALERT: NEW WRINKLE FOR THIS MADNESS! NO ARTIST CAN APPEAR MORE THAN ONCE IN YOUR PICKS AS A LEAD/CO-LEAD CREDIT. Note that this restriction does not extend to features, i.e. an artist can appear as a lead and a feature in the same list. I am implementing this sub-clause mainly to prevent repeats of past scenarios where players submitted entire selections by a single artist, but I believe it will pose a fun mini-challenge outside of these fringe cases as well.
2) When you have narrowed down your songs, please send them to me (@ gatesofseattles/singingrulebritannia) in a PM, not in this thread. Ensure you do this by 11:59PM ET on the 1st of December 2022, as there's a lot to get through in this tournament. If you absolutely can't enter your songs by then, I'll need to know when you can before the deadline.
3) When you send your songs to me, place your songs in order from favorite to least favorite, as each person will only have four songs in the tournament, with the songs outside your top 4 being alternates if someone else has the same song as you. If more than those initial songs are needed, I'll PM you, and you'll need to reply ASAP to ensure you have four songs when the tournament starts.
4) DO NOT tell people what your songs are. The mystery is both a levelling factor and part of the fun.
5) During the ranking portion (after the songs have been revealed), you rank each song from #1 to #[however many people send songs], with #1 being your favorite. You do not have to send songs to join in the rankdowns.

Posters in recent Madness games have been quite courteous and friendly to each other, so at this point I don't think I need to remind people to not engage in fights over who submitted/tanked what for whatever nefarious reasons. You all realize by now that this is a game where the goal is for the Pulse community to come together and share our highly diverse personalities and music tastes. Let's keep it peppy and positive, like it has been.

However, I do reserve the right to ban you from participating if I believe you are incapable of giving all types of songs a fair chance in a multi-genre rankdown. And I know people like that are out there.

Summertime Madness 2022 was the first Madness tournament I've participated in and I had a lot of thoughts to share during its course.

Now for Wintertime Madness, I've been preparing over the last few weeks. On Spotify, I've made a playlist that contains some of the absolute worst 'songs' I could find that have been released in the last year or so, 'songs' that are so downright atrocious that they make Michete's "Hard", salem ilese's "Cryto Boy", Post Malone, etc. sound like absolute masterpieces in comparison! So brace yourselves sussy bakas! I will be submitting them... okay, not for this tournament, maybe for the next March Madness... maybe.

For WTM, I have some artists and songs in mind to represent my music tastes that will surely not be Pulse favorite choices that will coast into the finals like *cough*Hatchie*cough*.

I tried for this one like last year; Summertime Madness was more me being experimental or just goofing off (I knew full well that Shinedown song was going to bomb hard lol). However, songs 4 and 8 on my list are still me just having fun and I'm not particularly expecting them to do well. 

Then again I didn't expect much out of Mastodon last year and they made finals, so you never know...
