Aw man I thought Amy Shark's name would at least bring it into the top half. This is a great example of how sometimes simple extreme competence over a very basic formula can be just as good as innovation.

"Heroes" is amazing in its original form that it would take a really good cover to make me rank it high, and this didn't really meet those admittedly high standards. It's not a bad cover though.

I did not have "David Bowie cover" on my bingo card for this Madness.
I mean, I can't say that it wasn't entirely devoid of merit. It at least tries something different with "Heroes", as opposed to Jakob Dylan basically just deciding to cover the song nearly note-for-note, but making it infinitely more boring.

anyways, not a bad set. I lost some good discoveries (and my own pick, but it was high enough where there were quite a few people who ranked it high, and even the tanks aren't that bad lol), but most of the stuff I didn't care for is gone and most of my favourite songs left are still in.

If I didn't know better, I'd think that this was a Billie Eilish rejected song that Finneas decided to pass down to someone else. I don't disagree but I still like it. |

In all seriousness, I liked All Mine but did not have strong feelings for it whereas I actually enjoyed a large chunk of seed 4 this year with over 30 songs from it being added to my library so the competition was STACKED. |

Disappointed Baby and hate to be lame are out, I actually really liked those songs. The Heroes cover isn't bad and at least ISM tried to make it their own but yeah, really redundant cover.

Amy did about as well as I could have hoped, escaping the bottom 15 isn't terrible. Better this than her cover of Bic Runga's 'Sway' with R3hab - which to me is pleasant enough but it probably would've been bottom 5 fodder here. I'm expecting that to make the ARIA year-end so hopefully that one can subvert my expectations in the Non-US 2022 game once that's going.

Gone on the first day.Agree that this is not the 1975's best song, but I like when they break out of the radio-friendly sounds, and this one grew on me (it was also one of my alternates after a steal fwiw).

I had decided to not look at this set of reveals until after they took place. While I did expect many of these not-so-good songs to be revealed early, I am really surprised that I have the second-highest closeness and 3 perfect rankings. The only real disappointment for me is (of course) "TWO SHRiMPS" finishing low. I had already discovered the album NOT TiGHT on Spotify. I listened to it in November and really liked it, but I decided against submitting one of the songs as an extra for WTM. I also thought about this comment I made a week ago. I still think that "Runner" is a good song but at the time I did not make my decision on "Miracles" which I ended up not enjoying much for being overly religious, so this reveal was the most pleasant surprise. I've seen several users rating these songs on Rate Your Music. I plan to rate these songs as well but not until after the reveals (prior to the finals). In fact, I am far behind in ranking songs from other rankdowns I've been a part of and albums that I've listened to in the last year or so. |

54. This is just a rent-a-rapper song with overdramatic lyrics.
52. The theme is okay but everything else is generic.
51. These are definitely lyrics.
50. The best song of the album (Shot Glass) was sent in Summertime Madness already so I don't see the point of sending anything else from the album, even though I like this. The 'strait'-forward delivery didn't help in all-genre rankdown I guess.
49. Imagine Dragons-lite never popped up in my mind after hearing this. My thought is actually some obnoxious "Americana" songs lol
44. Surprised this is so low. It may drag a little bit but still got the vibe.
43. Some part of the songs is a bit out there, but it is overall an interesting listen.
38. Actually a better part of the album imo, but this seed is competitive.
I hope my remaining bottom 10s are not in the finals.
