So the solution to fighting ageism and sexism is through chart trickery and manipulation and exploiting fans, and that's somehow supposed to be "winning"? But I mean even without all these remixes she would still be huge, so she just seems to be on a fame high, definitely getting too full of herself.

Plus there have been notable instances of female artists near or older than 33 who found comparable success without as much trickery:

If we have another uninteresting year for pop music, I fear the masses will really stop tuning in, and the world of centralized pop music us chart watchers cherish so much will be a thing of the past. We do still have the Global 200 if the Hot 100 becomes uninteresting. Maybe we can start making threads on that?

I'm still surprised Nas didn't do a remix with Mariah back when OTR was at it's height becuase you know. Maybe this can be when the 2 do the collab? Or maybe Nas goes with someone else or doesn't do anything with Holiday, idk.

idkk me & my friends put on Youtube Christmas music compilations while decorating the tree. My other friend was just telling me 2 weeks ago that she’s starting to get in a Christmas mood and played Christmas music while writing her research article. Though I didn’t really listen to Christmas music before it became so easily available on Spotify. When I was 12, during the EDM craze, the only Christmas songs I listened to on purpose were like… Christmas Tree by Lady Gaga, and Last Christmas by Cascada. But, after age 20 I think you get more nostalgic for the simple times when Christmas was special.

I really appreciate this random ass CASCADA mention. I’m guilty of playing their last Christmas like crazy on my iPod on the way to a Hershey trip the holiday season it came out along with what hurts the most which just came out

I also only ever found this board bc of CASCADA. I was tracking evaluate the dance floors run on CASCADAs website and pulse kept getting mentioned and eventually I ended up here :)

Just my opinion but I feel like it's gotta be an older generation thing. That would explain the surge on amazon and AC radio... No one I know shouts at their Alexa device to play Christmas music. For me personally I really only regularly listen to All I Want for Christmas is You and a few more recent songs like Underneath the Tree, Santa Tell Me and Christmas Tree Farm (I am a swiftie, after all 😝).

Ok, so I definitely agree that the music industry is ageist, but Taylor Swift is 32 and hardly old, even by ageist industry standards. Taylor's current status is basically the most dominant any female artist has *ever* been, but there's certainly been artists at her age and older who have been huge on the charts.

Madonna (32 in 1990) -- Vogue had just hit #1 before her 32nd birthday and Justify My Love hit #1 shortly thereafter. She also released the diamond-selling Immaculate Collection greatest hits album. She had 17 more top 10 hits and 3 more #1 singles after this age. Her last top 10 was at age 53 and last #1 at age 42.

Whitney Houston (32 in 1995) -- Exhale (Shoop Shoop) hit #1 (admittedly her last #1) but she had 2 other top 10s within a year, and then an additional 3 top tens from My Love Is Your Love at age 35.

Janet Jackson (32 in 1998) -- She was inbetween albums at this age, but she had What's It Gonna Be hit #3 and then a couple years later, 2 more #1s with Doesn't Really Matter and All For You and 1 more top ten from the AFY album.

Mariah Carey (32 in 2001) -- This was a low point in her career, but she was back in the top 10 soon after with I Know What You Want and then had her huge Emancipation era at age 36. Post-32, she had 7 more top tens including 4 #1s.

Beyonce (32 in 2013) -- Do I need to spell this one out?

Yeah the list of pop artists still scoring be in their early/mid 30s is decently long. 40 is the true changing point in my opinion but a lot for the legends can still pull off hits between 40-45

Madonna did it with ease. Beyonce is showing she still can. Pink shouldn’t be counted out yet. Britney is getting one.

I wouldn't say Taylor is the most dominant any female artist has ever been...sure she got a 1M+ album and the entire top ten...but different era. I'm sure if streaming was in the 60s-90s The Supremes, Madonna, Janet, Mariah, or Whitney maybe even Barbra would've done the same.

And back on how huge era's feel it definitely won't and doesn't feel as huge as most of the artists era's I mentioned before hand.
