Honestly smart move to push next week considering tomorrow's impact date is already stacked with other big rising songs.

Who else can get five hits from an album, be called โoverโ with her next flop album, stage a comeback fit for a legend and then get herself hit number 6 from that same album 12 years later!

If this becomes even a minor hit (or is it already? I'm old and out of touch with what we consider minor hits now) I will feel so damn vindicated. Always one of my favs from that cd lmao.

I guess I would consider this a minor hit for her right now because it was unexpected. I definitely will even if it just hangs around its current spot on the Hot 100 for another month. Maybe my bar has dropped tooโฆ?

In all fairness, aside from Born This Way and possibly Edge Of Glory, those singles underperformed expectations after the extremely succesful Fame/Monster era.

In all fairness, aside from Born This Way and possibly Edge Of Glory, those singles underperformed expectations after the extremely succesful Fame/Monster era. "Judas" was the first Born This Way song after the title track to impact radio, and it faded fast probably because it was too controversial or edgy for sustained radio success. "The Edge of Glory" then went top 5, and it along with the album's title song is probably the only song from the era widely remembered outside Gaga's fanbase. "You and I" then made the CHR top 10 and "Marry the Night" the top 20 on name rec/momentum, but her clout at radio was waning which wasn't unexpected after three years of near-constant hits. Though ARTpop's singles were somewhat more successful than one may remember, with "Applause" and "Do What U Want" both going top 10, even if the latter, an R. Kelly collaboration, has understandably been written out of her discography by many (including Gaga herself.)

Unfortunately for Applause, despite being a pretty big hit (No. 4 on the Hot 100, 14 weeks in the Top 10), it's pretty forgotten. I like the song and the whole album but Artpop has definitely aged the worst of all Gaga's albums while most of Born This Way still holds up including Bloody Mary. Side note: I'm probably gonna sound like a horrible person but Do What U Want is one of Gaga's best songs and Kelly sounds great on the song, I go back to it a lot even though it's shameful. I wish she'd just re-record it with a new male vocalist like The Weeknd or Usher or someone like that. The Christina version just doesn't hit the same.

Heard this on the radio today! Bit disappointed with the edit, by the time I tuned in it was the first chorus then it went verse 2 then cut to the final chorus + outro. Could they not have left more in? Is that the official edit or is it just what my station's playing here?

The song pulled nearly 500k yesterday on Spotify, rising day after day for the last few weeks and seeing its biggest updates since its release 10 years ago...

Ok but like G.U.Y. and MANiCURE deserve their dues, we love Applause tho.

I never really cared for G.U.Y. even when it was released as a single. However, Iโm here for Manicure or Venus getting their chance to shine. Do What U Want is still my favorite song from the album and I agree with sentiments that I wish she would re-record it with a new male vocalist. The Weeknd would sound amazing on it. Also, I do agree with other posters that Artpop has aged the worst out of all her albums and that is the one I revisit least (along with Joanne).
I do wish Gaga would re-record Bloody Mary with the sped up production. It works much better for the song but that chipmunk voice on the TikTok version is grating.
