#71 - Coldplay and BTS - "My Universe"
This is a fine enough pop song but it didn't belong here in a million years.
#69. Avril Lavigne - "Bite Me"
Hard to believe that Avril never made the Alt chart until now. It's not at the level of her best work, though. It just comes off as pithy and somewhat immature. It has a fun kick in the instrumentation though.
#68. Modest Mouse - "The Sun Hasn't Left"
Yet another Modest Mouse follow-up flop in their history. Unlike some of their past attempts, this one kinda deserved to stumble and fail. It just doesn't have much appealing about it.
#67 The Offspring - "Behind Your Walls"
Generic Offspring, but a fine enough listen. I don't think I'll be going back to it often, though.
#66. MÃ¥neskin - "Beggin'"
This left way too early. Yes, it was a smash and got overplayed, but god their take on this classic is party-rock fun at its finest. These guys could be around for a while, they're a massively talented band.
#65. A Day To Remember f/Mark Hoppus - "Re-Entry"
Mark Hoppus single-handedly saves this song from being yet another ADTR failure in a recent history full of them. It's basically crunchier blink-182 now, it doesn't light the world on fire but it's decent fun to listen to. I could see myself coming back to this years from now.
#64. AWOLNATION f/Tim Mcllrath - "Beds Are Burning"
It's basically a straight-up cover, nothing remarkable or special about it. Honestly it gives me a bar band impression.
#63. Giant Rooks - "Morning Blue"
I keep forgetting this exists ngl.
#62. Surfaces - "I Can't Help But Feel"
I found this mildly irritating.
#61. Vance Joy - "Clarity"
I've softened on Vance Joy over the years. He will likely never make my year-end lists but he makes adequate folk/jam rock fusions that are pleasant enough to listen to. "Clarity" is another entry in that tradition, with some fun horns and a good, positive vibe throughout.
#60. Mother Mother - "Hayloft II"
I should have liked this more but something about it failed to click with me.
59. Muse - "Won't Stand Down"
I was high on this when it first came out, but it's slipped down over the months. It's still one of the better tracks on the album but the pieces are just not glued together sufficiently. The verses and the choruses feel like they're from completely different songs. The napalm blast that is the breakdown is still a highlight though.
58. Red Hot Chili Peppers - "These Are The Ways"
Probably my favorite selection from Unlimited Love, but the album and everything on it gets worse and worse to me the more I listen to Return of the Dream Canteen. Their other 2022 album just blows "These Are The Ways" and everything from UL out of the water.
57. Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats - "Survivor"
The legacy of Stax Records remains strong. This is a killer mix of jazz and good old-fashioned dirty rock. Nathaniel is a good songwriter, but as his solo effort proved, he needs The Night Sweats to give his lyrics and melodies a nice kick of life. An absolute standout on this list and it made my YE 2021 selections as well.
56. Red Hot Chili Peppers - "Tippa My Tongue"
This song is stupid as hell but in the good classic RHCP way. It's actually one of the lesser cuts from Return of the Dream Canteen though. We'll be ranking one of the highlights in 2023.

Another excellent jam by these guys.

This song I feel like I should like more than I do but it never reaches the next level.
Metric - "All Comes Crashing"
The resurrection of Metric was not on my 2022 Bingo. Honestly, for a band that fell off the face of the Earth in the US, their return was pretty decent.
The Lumineers - "A.M. Radio"
BORING.
Billie Eilish - "Happier Than Ever"
