âWater Under The Bridgeâ is so infectious! Iâve been a big Sam Hunt fan since âLeave The Night Onâ and heâs never really disappointed me.
I saw him in concert last summer and he was a really fun performer, but also had some really nice vulnerable moments too like when he sang âStart Nowhereâ. Just thinking about it makes me ready for concert season to start up again!
Edit: His new diss track about Walmart/his exes mom is very weird thoughâŠ

Since lots of people will be checking out this thread tonight and tomorrow as they get caught up on the previous set of reveals, here is some shameless promo for a couple of other rankdowns!! castleoblivion26 is hosting a rankdown for Carly Pearce's recent album, 29: Written in Stone. And I am also hosting a rankdown for Kelsea Ballerini's new album, SUBJECT TO CHANGE. Just wanted to hype them up here since they are both very popular albums from very popular artists who will appeal to a broader crowd than the typical country rankdowns. I'd love to see both of them get to 20+ participants, and you guys will definitely be the best ones to help us get there! Both are due by the end of this week, so feel free to jump in within the next few days!!

If we go by the results of Hot 100 rankdown, Beers On Me and Take My Name should be out soon.
Personally though, Truth About You is overstaying by at least 20 reveals already, but I feel the purge of lesser-known artists will continue.

I forgot that Beers On Me is still in. That one IMO is also massively overstaying.

Downtown Baby is a catchy tune that does not deserve neither the hate on this board nor the flop on the chart. It received 45+ adds and only made it to #59? I mean whatâs the point of adding a song and not playing it? Itâs almost like radio stations checked Pulseâs lukewarm responses and decided not to play after the adds.

Downtown Baby wasted a catchy chorus melody on some of the dumbest lyrics we saw last year.
Also the verses sound like a completely different song and are better suited for Broadway than country music.
The song is awful.

"Downtown Baby" only ranked so high for me because of that chorus. Seriously that chorus is so catchy.
The verses however are rather subpar.
Some other thoughts, happy to see "Water Under The Bridge" out as that has never connected with me in anyway.

You're a son of a momma You're a son of a dadThis song has some of the dumbest lyrics of anything I've heard in recent history. It's not a very good song outside of them, but I just cannot get over how stupid that opening line of the chorus is. It's also been hanging around clogging up chart space for what feels like 2 years. Please gtfo already. It's used to contrast the SOB line and the first line "I called him everything under the sun", which means something you would call a person in a deragatory way. Calling the narrator "son of a momma/son of a dad" instead by his father in the chorus is the suppose nicer, heartwarming twist lol Also not Walker Hayes fans talking cringy lyricsIt's... not a good lyric, lol. But kudos for trying to twist your mind to think otherwise! Also not accusing me of being a "Walker Hayes fan" as a reason for invalidating my opinion. That's a new one. đ

That's a new one. đ I just don't think taking lyrics out of context and then say they are bad is fair. Also the Walker Hayes fan is partly a joke because Walker Hayes is not mostly known for writing good lyrics.

It was far and away the worst female offering in this RD imo, so while I'm disappointed that it wasn't the first female track to bow out, I'm glad it didn't get too far. I sorta half-liked it the first few times I heard it, but it got old quick and now I find it pretty intolerable. Still kinda surprised it bombed the way it did after pulling in 45 initial adds... but I am also not saddened by that, lol.

That's a new one. đ I just don't think taking lyrics out of context and then say they are bad is fair. It's not out of context at all tho? That doesn't change those lyrics from being dumb, lol. Every human being on Earth is a son of a momma and a son of daddy. It reminds me of Rihanna's "Man Down" lyric where she contemplated that the person who got shot ' could've been somebody's son.' Feels like a bad attempt at being "deep" but the pool is indeed shallow. That part also has an awfully grating melody that adds to my dislike for it. The way he pauses and delivers those lines creates an unnecessary separation it from the message in the line that follows it.

I guess it was about the time, but "While You're Gone" has a really good melody + funny/dumb music video that I like. I wish it had become a bigger hit.

Based on peak date, apparently "While You're Gone" should've been in the 2021 rankdown... Oh well, I can't always get it right when I assume a song might end up being a bigger hit in the upcoming year!
Personally I think this has a really Blake-Shelton-esque sound. But like, in a good way! I could hear this being a really successful hit for Blake!

It's astonishing that despite Luke Combs being very popular in country genre, none of the associated artists (Drew Parker, Jameson Rodgers, Ray Fulcher etc.) truly break out, while Morgan Wallen's do (HARDY, Ernest).

Ernest has only had 1 radio single to date and it limped into the top 20 of the charts despite being a literal duet with Morgan Wallen. I'd say the jury's still out on him breaking through.

It's quite a shame tho. I think those three you mentioned had great radio singles, which radio did not really take, unfortunately. Both of Ray's singles were pleasant listens, and I'm still quite bitter about how Missing One flopped.

Another #1 hit bites the dust with the exit of Dylan Scott! "New Truck" is not a bad song by any means, but I am just soooo tired of his delivery after hearing it like 118 bajillion times during its entire year-long chart run...

I love Dylan Scott's voice, but his last few singles have been rather meh to me. This got old pretty quick and shouldn't have made it to #1 on the charts given its low impact.

I couldn't believe how many lower ranks we got for "Can't Do Without Me"! Sure there is definitely familiarity bias that is working against this and Chayce Beckham overall, but this one just sounds so fresh to me! The arrangement is like the perfect way to integrate neo-trad elements with a modern sound, as I can't help but fawn over the way the steel guitar is doing its thing throughout much of this arrangement. Also, Chayce and Lindsay sound pretty great together, and Lindsay herself has quite a bit of name-power on Pulse. Shame this couldn't get any higher!
