If I Were Rock and Roll grew on me a lot. I like the album, too, but the album version of the song has a weird production.

Jason Aldean himself may be a garbage individual, but I honestly liked both of his contributions this year a fair amount. I'm pretty sure "That's What Tequila Does" was my higher of his two. That being said, he needs to hurry up and retire, so I'm not at all sad to see him flopping one of his songs out of here already. Good riddance!

Of the country songs featured in the Hot 100, “She Likes It” is the third-lowest non-Wallen song in my ranking of that list. If the fact that I ranked this song BETTER in this rankdown than the all-genre rankdown doesn’t speak to the overall quality of mainstream country music in 2022 then I don’t know what else does…

Oh but "Up" is quite harmful to me in every way. Melody, delivery, and especially lyrics made for one of the easiest last-place ranks of any rankdown I've ever participated in. Can't say it better than I did in the single thread:

idk man, try as I might, I can't bring myself to hate Niko Moon as much as the rest of you. He's barely country sure, but his compositions are competent enough to be catchy. He's not someone who I'll ever feel super duper strongly about his songs.

Country On sounds like a parody country song that Bo Burnham's character on Parks & Rec would make. That obviously describes a lot of modern country songs, but Country On is THE Ur-example to me.

It's not fair that Chase Rice's new album is decent considering how much he sucks.
