Country On is a flop all things considered, especially for a Luke Bryan lead single. It's not even among his most popular songs on his Spotify page.

See, the problem is that they've already done this 7 or 8 times. What they need to do is pretend that "Tequila" never existed and just go back to giving us "19 You and Me"-adjacent stuff!

(Or just retire. That's probably the best option!)

It's interesting because "19 You+Me" also has this HAC-feel to it, but it feels more inspired than the stuff they've done post-"Tequila"/"Speechless". I don't know what happened to them, it's not like they've pivoted in direction so much from their earlier songs but yet they feel so much more... boring?

The whole way thru "Steal My Love" I was like wtf am I listening to?! Dan + Shay are just flat out awful to me. Their music is the worst and as talented as they are, their vocals are so whiny. "You" was better but I hate both.

"You Proof" is awful. Another example of the kind of trendiness I don't want in my country.

"Up" is such a chore, I've never been able to listen to it in full. The repeated 'up' in the verse is pure torture. Instant station changer.

To me, Up is Luke Bryan's seemingly mandated every-other-year moment of making a good song out of nowhere before returning to his normal schtick. SOMEONE on his team has good taste and needs more clearly power over his career.

I didn't expect either Dan + Shay song to be high but considering You is anesthetic-level boring and Steal My Love is okay, that order they went out in is just all kinds of wrong.

Sorry I didn't get any reveals done tonight! I spent much of the afternoon/evening finishing up my list for Darkest Hour's rankdown, and then I figured it was too late so I went to see the new Ant Man movie. I also got my trajectory graphs made for the entire rest of this rankdown though, so now I'm ready to start knocking 'em out quickly in the next few days! I can hear what Chris Janson was going for with this one, but it is just kinda lame considering how many great single options he has had in his back pocket and passed up on lately. Almost all of his random standalone releases around this one were significantly better.

This #93 placement is especially horrible considering the fact that it is the followup to "Thinking 'Bout You" which we put all the way up at #16 last year... This is just so lame and pointless!

And the main thing I will always remember about this song is Dustin hyping up the fact that Nashville is known for having all the best songwriters in the world, and he got this one from some of the very best, getting us all kinda excited before he dropped THIS steaming turd on our heads

"Salt, Lime & Tequila" isn't horrible by any means, but no matter how many times I listen to it I just can't quite get over how boring it is. Especially for a song that is supposed to be "fun" based on its topic. This just completely misses the mark. I'm not surprised it flopped on the charts or in this rankdown.
