I have to say as an artist I've always really liked Morgan Evans. His voice is great and he was PHENOMENAL when I saw him live. Sadly, most of his music since his debut single hasn't been my thing so I haven't actively listened to him over the years. I also have no idea what happened between him and Kelsea cuz I don't care about their personal lives like that lol.

Our #80 is in fact our very first female loss, unfortunately for Kassi Ashton as well as the 4 people who put her in their top 10s! This also sees our first top 2 loss courtesy of Kanenrá:ke ....

I definitely don't get it, lol. Kassi Ashton has a very unique sound, and I have yet to enjoy a single thing I have ever heard from her. "Dates In Pickup Trucks" is one of the best I have heard, because it fits her style a lot more than, say, her absoutely god-awful rendition of "Hard Candy Christmas" a couple years ago. But that still doesn't make it good. Not surprised to see it be our first female loss, and I'm honestly surprised it took this long for it to happen!

I know she has her fans but I don't think I am ever gonna like Kassi Ashton's music and it's mainly her voice, it's hard to describe but it just doesn't work for me. I think maybe it's the thickness in her voice. 

I don't mind her new single but that's about as far as I am probably gonna go liking one of her songs.

Sadly, I'm not that surprised. I am however EXTREMELY disappointed that trash like "Downtown Baby" made it higher than this gem of a song.

"Dates In Pickup Trucks" is a jam and has an excellent melody, Kassi Ashton is a fantastic artist with a fantastic voice but I knew a lot of posters can't stand her so sadly seeing this tanked to hell isn't extremely shocking to me.

Disappointed to see "First Taste of Gone" leaving, but I was not too wrong to predict this to leave in the 70s. This is such a beautiful song with solid vocal from Josh. I can see him becoming a new hit maker up here (his follow-up was also successful).

Anyone who doesn't think "First Taste of Gone" is gorgeous, like... I don't even have words. It is stunning, exquisite, beautiful, stellar... all the words lol. Josh Ross also sounds fantastic on this. Easy standout on this list for me.

Despite the optimism from zaclord 🌈 that "First Taste of Gone" might do better than expected due to not having the negative familiarity bias of other male artists, that good will was only enough to carry it out of the bottom 30. It is our first entry from 🌺CountryLineDancer's Canadian year-end rankdown to leave us. I believe the first song to leave last year was Nice Horse's "Good At Missing You" at #63, meaning this one did substantially worse than the worst song last year.

I do think this one has a nice melody, but arrangement-wise it left me a little bit bored when I revisited it for this rankdown, which was why it was so low on my own list. I definitely still wouldn't skip it or anything though!

It's one of his better songs, and I definitely could have seen it being a hit back when he was seeing a lot of success with "Something 'Bout A Truck" and "Hey Pretty Girl". This re-recording was super random and probably came at the worst possible time in his career for it to be a hit.

This recording was a mess whereas the original was excellent. I still think they messed up his first era because this song should have been released.

I'VE HAD A CRUSH A SUGAR RUSH I'VE FELT THAT FREEDOM ON THE HIGHWAY!!!!!! This song has seriously been stuck in my head since the night I did the Canadian rankdown, months ago now... I don't think Megan Dawson has an incredible voice or anything, but this song is C.A.T.C.H.Y!!!!!! The fact that it snuck into my top 10 says volumes, lmao. It's really sad to me that familiarity bias worked against these Canadian songs so badly, 'cause this one has a lot of potential if it had come from someone more well-known!
