Unpopular opinion, but I want "Strange" to leave sooner than later. It is a fine song, but it is not the best song from the album + I never liked the verse of that song. Realistically speaking, however, 5 songs to miss the top 5 would be Jon Pardi, Morgan Wade, Ingrid Andress, Tim McGraw, and Luke Combs.

As I said before the reveal, "Wilder Days" was a very strong top 10 contender for the majority of this rankdown. No wonder I thought it would be the runaway winner in Darkest Hour's Americana rankdown a couple months ago.... (I have NO idea what everyone was smoking when they made sure that this finished in like the bottom 70 of that rankdown ) Morgan Wade may not come across as your conventional country star, but she has definitely been warmly received thusfar on Pulse! "Wilder Days" was a major force here, getting top half ranks from nearly everybody! I think this one is pretty catchy, and has contiued to grow on me every time I have heard it. Definitely a highlight of this year! |

"The Kind of Love We Make" was never a top 10 contender, as it had a bit of a climb that it needed to make after some of its lower ranks came in the very beginning. The climb was steady and determined though, to where this was unquestionably a top 15 contender for much of the last 1/3 of this rankdown!
Personally I find this one to be a really fresh sound from Luke. It's a shame that this was the one to break his #1 streak, as it's honestly his most inspired-sounding song since "When It Rains It Pours" to my ears!

"The Kind of Love We Make" is good and all, but... it's kinda just your basic minor key jam lol. Which is why it is still good enough to be in my top 40, but its not like amazing or anything tbh.
By the way i do really like Luke Combs and his voice! I just think his music has become... kind of stale? I don't know, almost like we've heard the best from him already and I'm not entirely sure... how many good times we have left. Does anyone feel the same way or no? lol

"The Kind Of Love We Make" is the first single that I liked since Does To Me. I kinda got tired of it after a while, but I’d still take this over any of those Beautifuk Crazy knockoffs. Currently loving Going Going Gone.

FINALLY! How did this modern DRECK make it so high, my gosh.. I love both artists but "Wishful Drinking" is a big fat hell no for me. Snap clap trendy nonsense is what this song is. SO glad it did not make the top 10!

"Wishful Drinking" was a moderately strong top 10 contender as well. In fact, this was pretty much the song that stayed at #10 and played goalie to prevent "Whiskey On You" from being much more than a #11 contender for most of the rankdown! In the end though, this one didn't quite have the high ranks to compete against the best of the best from this year! Ingrid is still without a doubt one of the most consistent artists on Pulse though, as this is now her fourth straight release to make the top 13 in the year-end rds "More Hearts Than Mine" made it to #4 in both 2019 and 2020, "The Stranger" made it to #7 in 2020, and "Lady Like" made it to #11 in 2021. So this is her worst performance so far, but not by much! |

"Damn Strait" can leave too, but to a lessor extent...

Surprisingly imo, "Circles Around This Town" was never a top 10 contender! Maren is always a sure bet to finish pretty high in these rankdowns, but the year just proved to be slightly too competitive for "Circles"!
I personally really liked this one, but I am ready for her to come with a stronger era now! There really wasn't anything on the album that I liked any more than this one...
