she got her drivers license two years ago, and went on to ride her way to being one of the most successful artists of 2021...
Released last January 8, 2021, as her debut single (she had prior music before Drivers License, notably from her High School Musical: The Musical: The Series) through the Geffen and Interscope Records. It was also the lead single for her debut album "SOUR" which was released 4 months later after the release of this song.
A power ballad that mixes the styles of bedroom pop, alt-pop, and power pop, it managed to break a string of records, notably being the record of the most streams on Spotify for a non-Holiday song which happened just four days after the song's release and the biggest first-week for a song in both Spotify and Amazon Music. "drivers license" also won the Best Pop Solo Performance at the 2022 Grammy Awards, while also being nominated for both Record and Song of the Year. "drivers license" reached the top spot in the US Billboard Hot 100 (for eight consecutive weeks and being the youngest artist to debut at the top spot, being only 17 by the time it first hit #1) and in 25 more countries as well.
The perfect song to kickstart to her musical success, and definitely my favorite song from her, although "good 4 u" became the more popular and successful song from her.
