Sad that the Caylee duet was our final casualty shy of the top 5 as it very much deserved to be there over the uneventful cover of "Don't Close Your Eyes." It would be quite the upset at this point if that one isn't our next song out as the other remaining 4 are all songs I could see contend for the win, honestly. I think it'll come down to a close battle between the George & ZBB duets though.

“If Tears Could Talk” is the final song to exit from Alan's Genuine compilation album and only found its way into the top 5 just as the rankdown was coming to a close. That's despite the fact that this managed to accumulate the bulk of its rankings all from within the top 10 including a handful of top 5s. Of those, George Strait Junkie slotted this as his runner-up. Both nathanalbright and gardyfan were the only holdouts who placed this outside of their top 15 altogether. While most of the previously unreleased tracks from Genuine sound as though they were recorded for the Good Time album session, this is one of the few that I can distinguish which sounds as though it might've been recorded much earlier in Alan's career. Based on the results here, this may have been a track that they shouldn't have overlooked.

“Don’t Close Your Eyes” was recorded by Alan for the 1994 Keith Whitley tribute album which of course spawned the hit "When You Say Nothing At All" by Alison Krauss & Union Station. While the results were a bit of a mixed bag here, the support at the top for it was just enough to see this be one of the most consistent top 5 contenders yet to leave. In fact, it only fell outside of the top 5 midway through its run as it accumulated its first non-top 15 and lowest ranking from recordyear. Five participants in all slotted this inside their top 5 which included a #1 from nathanalbright.

I should add that "Don't Close Your Eyes" was dang near my #1 as well as it's always been one of my favorite covers that I frequently revisit. I personally think it's a rather underrated one at that as Alan's voice is just a perfect match for this.

Both Alan Jackson and Martina McBride teamed up to record “Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man” for the Loretta Lynn tribute album which was released in 2010. Despite initially starting off outside of the top 10 thanks to yours truly, this vaulted up into the top 5 where it would remain for the duration of the time. In fact, 🌺CountryLineDancer was the lone participant to slot this outside of their top 15 with everyone else finding room for this in their top 10. Interestingly enough, four of those all came slotted in the lucky #7 position. The other four placed this in their top 5 with castleoblivion26 ranking this as his runner-up.

And there we have it folks! "Murder on Music Row" continues to reign supreme after having just come out on top in the George Strait album tracks rankdown...it's almost a befitting ending to both series, isn't it?! That said, it did step aside briefly into the runners-up position as "As She's Walking Away" would briefly take over the top spot thanks to back-to-back #1 rankings from .indulgecountry and gardyfan. It wouldn't take long before it found its way back to the top where it would safely ride out its time for the duration of its run. All in all, "Murder on Music Row" accumulated five #1 rankings from myself, bboat11, George Strait Junkie, castleoblivion26, and recordyear. Not only that, but everyone placed this inside their top 10! The song has gone on to become a favorite not just amongst his fans, but obviously is pretty well-regarded amongst those in the Pulse Tractor community as well.

I am happy with these results and especially happy that 4 of my Top 5 was the Top 4. I think both "Don't Close Your Eyes" and "Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man" are solid covers that I enjoy a lot. While I'm not the biggest ZBB fan, in that I don't care for them at all, "As She's Walking Away" is actually really good as well. Thankfully though the incredible "Murder On Music Row" took the Top spot as it deserved to do so! Thanks for hosting tim!

It's almost hard to believe that it was over three years ago now back in March of 2020 that the Alan Jackson series was officially kicked off! Since that time, we have covered all 65 of his singles; listened to over 200 songs encompassing all of his albums spanning 30+ years beginning with 1989's Here in the Real World to 2021's Where Have You Gone; covered another 50 of the top-performing album tracks from each one of his studio albums; and finally a short three years later we came to the conclusion and had some fun with other songs Alan recorded throughout his career. I'd like to thank each and everyone one of you for participating and following along with this series as it truly has been nothing short of a labor of love! It's truly great that an artist of Alan's stature can bring all of us together where we can look back on old memories and create new ones from discovering (or re-discovering!) songs that we all can relate to. Thanks again, y'all...it's been a pleasure!

Perfect top two even though they feel obvious since the beginning. Thanks tim for hosting.
