Any word on whether she's performing this or something else (or even at all) at the CMAs?

Is the audience for this still growing? Just curious.

This is finally starting to take off! Positive update and new peak of #32 on Country Airplay. I just hope the Christmas freeze doesn’t hurt any momentum she might have. The charts are starting to clear out at the top thankfully, so that should help!

If it can hold steady through the holidays I could see it making moves towards the top 10 by Spring… that’s if Carrie’s team is planning to stick with it.

Yeah they’d be silly if they didn’t keep on with this until the Cody duet is released (which I’m assuming comes after The Painter peaks), so I’d say we have at least another good 4-5 months to see how far it can get.
Ideally I’d want a top 10 from this, but seeing how radio treated Kelsea’s latest, I think somewhere in the top 20 range would be a good peak too.
Sucks because I have a strong feeling had this been a lead it could’ve been an easy #1 or top 3. Compared to a deluxe track they waited months to make a single until after all the initial hype was gone.

If the lead versus deluxe piece is the reason why this doesn’t perform to its potential, it just shows what an outdaded model releasing Deluxe Editions years after the fact is. People who have already bought the initial product don’t want to have to go back and get the new edition a year later.
Hopefully this can still be a big hit, but it goes to show that moving on to an entirely new project is probably in everybody’s best interest.

But sales of a deluxe edition are album sales, not singles singles. People can easily stream a new song from a deluxe edition (or download the new song). The reality is country radio is extremely slow right now for 90% of artists. It's so wild, and I don't even see how it helps the industry but whatever. And then of course there is a label push for specific songs that then drop fast. Look at that massive drop for Tim McGraw this week after getting to #1. It's just ridiculous how manipulated it all is, and of course it's mostly in service of white men. Out of that it also has to be noted that the current top 25 at country radio are all songs by men. There isn't even a woman as a duet partner on one of the songs. That's of course going to affect Carrie too. :ETA: raylatch98 points out Lainey Wilson has a duet credit. I missed that because of how AllAccess credits it. Even so, the only woman on a song in the top 25 being a duet is still a dismal state of affairs.

This part is technically false as Lainey Wilson is the duet partner for "Save Me" with Jelly Roll.

Reba was an anomaly more than likely as she had top 10s and even 2 number ones in her 50s. I would’ve expected Carrie to have a shot at accomplishing that, but some bad single choices have really hurt her pristine radio momentum at this point. I would want this to at least outpeak HMH at #20, if not make top 10. I really think Carrie needs to go back to the older sound, like Storyteller for instance. That was a solid country album.

At this point I don't think it's as simple as Carrie releasing an album more in line with her Arista stuff. Her radio momentum is basically gone, and now she is left fighting an uphill battle to try and get it back. Releasing a single/album that sounds like something she released almost 10 years ago now is not the best way to do that IMO, her best chance at another hit is to go all in on the current country music sound. I'm not a huge country music follower so admittedly I'm not sure what the "current" sound of country is, but perhaps the Cody Johnson duet will bring her back in a way. Although that didn't entirely work with IIDLY, the flaw in that plan was releasing Ghost Story as a single. If OOTT had followed IIDLY, I think this would be doing much better than it is. As it is, GS and HMH really killed any momentum she had on the radio and now she needs to regain it. It's much harder to regain lost momentum than it is to maintain, as she showed us for well over a decade and 30 some top 10 singles. EDIT TO ADD: It obviously doesn't help that a) the state of female artists in country music is abysmal, though that hasn't ever stopped her before, and b) I don't think she cares anymore. As long as she continues to do well enough that her label keeps letting her release music, she literally doesn't care.

I still think she has some top 10s left in her if she plays the game, after the Cody duet gives her some momentum, but I’ll always wonder how many more #1s she could’ve racked in if she stayed at Arista and played the radio game for 5-10 more years, rather than moving to Capitol.

I feel like she lost lots by aligning herself with David Garcia.

I feel like she lost lots by aligning herself with David Garcia. Yeah!!!!!!!!! Although I like Cry Pretty and D&R I think there's more in Carrie that could be brought out by other producers. Frank Liddell,Byron Gallimore and maybe Shane McAnally Or keep working with Jay Joyce is good too And there is no need to part ways with Mark Bright completely

Glad this has picked up a bit but it’s basically lost all of its early streaming and sales gains no? It seemed to be doing well there and then kinda plateaud

Honestly I think her momentum slow down is almost entirely based on poor single choices for these last two albums. The Capitol singles across the board (save for “Southbound”) are a step lower than anything she did at Arista. I don’t think any of “Cry Pretty”, “Love Wins”, “Drinking Alone”, “Ghost Story” or “Hate My Heart” sound like undeniable radio smashes. I’m assuming at this stage of her career and under a newly negotiated deal, much of the creative control and single decision making comes down to Carrie herself. All of that said, this track is probably the best radio record she’s put out with Capitol so far. Can only hope that it will pick up momentum closer to the Top 20.

OOTT just got into the top 30 on the Mediabase chart. Let’s hope this means more spins going forward!

#3 on RateTheMusic for Country songs. Only song by a female vocalist rated in the Top 10.

Very curious to how that impacts the MMI callouts. Have always been surprised at its lower score there, when it feels like such an easy listen.

Well FINALLY this morning i heard OOTT on local radio…because it made its official debut on CCUSA.
Hopefully with that they will finally add it to their normal playlist.

Interestingly enough to see how long this lasts in the new year since it's no longer on the Spotify Hot Country playlist as of this morning. Obviously radio is still promoting it and I do think this has some life left in it, but I am curious to see how far it can go.

It was the longest time period she’s ever had single in the main playlist, so that’s a plus. I just don’t understand her team’s logic. Based on Aircheck’s year end edition, they intend on pushing this in the new year. Why not keep it in.. especially considering they did even bother to make a video for it.

This is uncharted territory as 99% of Carrie’s previous singles have already peaked and fallen off the chart within 20-25 weeks. I think this still has some life left. It just got into the top 30, so hopefully that means it will be played more on country radio. This can probably manage a top 10/15 peak by spring if everything goes well. Carrie’s singles are just going to take longer at this point in her career.

If they were ever planning on releasing a music video for this, I would do it soon, as her radio spins are starting to increase. She should have a good shot at debuting this on the Hot 100 if they can coordinate it.

I’m thinking this goes top 5 maybe even #1. It’s not very old in terms of how long it’s taking most songs to climb. It still sounds fresh and new. They should release a video for this soon.
