I could imagine Kelly having another one-off single like she did in 2020 with I Dare You. The remixes for the song did quite well in 2020 and the different languages of the single also worked well. Anyways, her covers lately on TKCS have been great.

It would be such a missed opportunity to have one of the world’s best vocalists hosting the Olympics and to not have a song. She’s the queen of empowerment anthems to boot.
Really hoping she has something cooking for a one off for the Olympics.

An artist of Kelly’s calibre should not be releasing cheap cover albums, no. A digital EP to tie in to her television empire every few years when she has the time, sure. Cheap, no, but being the Queen of Covers is as core to her brand from a music audience perspective as anything else these days, and I actually think they could get more bang for their buck by leaning into that than, say, a Christmas album. It doesn't make as much sense now with Kellyoke having come out, but so few people know that EP even exists I'm not sure it would matter. Treated like a real era, I think a full-length, lush, promoted covers album would be well-received for her. I think they could do it even now, bringing in the best of Kellyoke and some career-defining covers from her. I think what would really "sell" it is a focus single, though--"Happier Than Ever" seems an obvious choice but it's such a recent song I'm not sure. I'd kill for a well-produced track list of something like (* could be easily swapped out for one of her other dozens of brilliant covers): 01. Queen of the Night 02. Seven Nation Army 03. I Wanna Get Better* 04. Happier Than Ever 05. Falling* 06. Dancing Queen* 07. The Joke* 08. Don't Let Go 09. She Used to Be Mine* 10. Pick Up Your Feelings 11. Chains* 12. Up to the Mountain 13. Heavy In Your Arms 14. Exit Music 15. Ring My Bell* 16. Both Sides Now 17. Natural Woman 18. I Will Always Love You (Live from ACM Awards)

Next week! Monday: "I Dare You to Love" Tuesday: "Somebody Like You" Wednesday: "Thank U, Next" Thursday: "Be Still" (!!!) Friday: "Apologies" Edit: I watched this live and Kelly appeared at the top of the show and said she had something planned for that particular episode, but that she got to work and her voice wasn't up to par so they dragged out one of the pre-taped ones they recorded for situations like that. Can't help but wonder if it was "I Have Nothing" ...

They are the same song! I'm guessing this just means Kelly is doing Trisha's stripped down/acoustic take on it. Trisha's version was released on the deluxe version of her album a year after Kelly's and has different lyrics during the bridge.

It’s just more proof that Eilish and Kelly need to do SOMETHING together.

New music alert! Country singer Terri Clark is releasing an album, Take Two, on May 31st. She has re-recorded eight of her hit singles as duets. Kelly is featured on "If I Were You." The power of Kellyoke: While some collaborations on Terri Clark: Take Two were by design, others were forged from happenstance — such as the random text message that set the Kelly Clarkson duet on Clark’s 1996 hit “If I Were You” into motion.
“She sang one of my songs on her karaoke segment of her show,” Clark says. “I never had her contact information, so I went through my business manager — who was a mutual contact for both of us — to say, ‘Thank you for singing my song.’ One day, I got a random text message that sounded very cryptic and I thought, ‘Oh, some random person got ahold of my phone number somehow.’ I texted back, ‘Who is this?’ and she was like, ‘Wait, is this..’ and named someone else. I said, ‘No, but who are you?’ And she said, ‘I can’t tell you but I can give you some hints.’” The guessing game continued until Clark verified Clarkson’s number with mutual artist friend Reba McEntire.
“I hate putting people on the spot, but I saw that as a sign that I was supposed to ask Kelly [to sing on the album],” Clark continues. “Thankfully, she said she would. I gave her a list of songs that were still available, and she picked ‘If I Were You,” which thrills me. I wrote that song when I was 21 years old, all by myself. So, it means a lot to me that she would pick that one.” Of recording with Clarkson, Clark says, “I just wanted her singing on as much of it as possible. She’s such an incredible singer, I just tried to stay out of her way.”

The idea that celebrities have to play guessing games with each other via text to verify their identities is highly amusing.

LOL I think Kelly forgot she was performing. Literally in awe of Brittany. Have a great weekend, y'all!

Next week! Monday: "I Dare You to Love" Tuesday: "Somebody Like You" Wednesday: "Thank U, Next" Thursday: "Be Still" (!!!) Friday: "Apologies"MAJOR UPDATE! Next Friday's show was supposed to be "Apologies" (not sure if that was a typo on the site for OneRepublic/Timbaland's "Apologize"), but now... While I do have a soft spot for the Hawaiian version, I hope they stick to the classic for this one.

Never expected to hear French but it’s still good. I love this song and happy with watching a live performance thanks to hosting her own TV show.

I have a theory that Sirius stations are playing Kelly across their portfolio more because of her deal with them. Not that they get 0 recurrent play on regular radio, but I heard Already Gone yesterday for example on their 10s Spot station, and hear Catch My Breath there regularly. I obviously love it don't get me wrong, but given how little I listen to the radio and how often I hear them, and how relatively small hits they were, seems like they're throwing her extra love for some reason (could also be tasteful programmers!).
