This will be a tough sell for the US. I hope I’m wrong but anything higher than top 30 would shock me, and I think even just that will be a journey unless this breaks out into circles beyond the queer community Top 30 on pop is a huge hit for Kylie's US standards, and for pretty much any female artist over 50, especially with a solo song. I am hoping for top 20 on HAC and top 40 on pop personally.

Seeing Kylie get a top 40 hit in 2023 would be everything.

This song has struck Kylie's core audience pretty hard, so it's already done it's job. But I'd love to see some of that mainstream success she's getting overseas translate here.
She's obviously facing a huge uphill battle in the US (hell, everywhere). But if there's any song that could land her a totally random hit, it's definitely this one. I'm just glad BMG and her team are working this.

The US unfortunately *is* an ageist society when it comes to music(both for men and women), but it does fit the format, so I can't see why it would it be an issue. If anything, we should be more angry at the US for not continuing to support her after Can't Get You Out Of My Head in 2002.

I'm somewhat optimistic. Yes US radio programmers are still ageist against female artists (especially dance-pop), but they have less power than they used to. If a song is going viral and performing well on streaming, they will be pressured to start spinning it. And there are signs that its viral momentum is starting to crossover stateside.

Has she charted on hot ac in the last 15 years? Well on the Billboard charts her only HAC top 40 hit is Can't Get You Out of My Head, which peaked at number 23. I can't imagine anything besides Love at First Sight having made Mediabase's top 50 since then.

This being serviced to Pop (and HAC) is the best news to get on the same day that the US Supreme Court struck down student loan forgiveness. I can't stop smiling about Kylie!

I was just in Fire Island last week and heard this at least 3 times a day, LOL. 2023 continues to shock and surprise but I am so here for a Kylie renaissance stateside.

Did she and/or her label even try that much after CGYOOMH though? I don't think ageism was at play then, they just decided there was no reason to make an effort outside of Oceania and Europe.

There are 3 HAC stations spinning this. All three of them are on the Leaders list for the format. The station in Austin has played it 48 times so far.

Kylie's music has never really been appealing or tried to be in touch to the US market. CGYOMH was really just such a huge colossal smash globally + a perfect Pop song, and it so it made sense for them to push it in US. Then "Love At First Sight" because it made sense to do some type of follow-up in US after actually getting a hit. Other than that since then, she hasn't really had any singles that strike me as being US appealing to begin with.
"Slow" definitely wasn't going to do anything in US, and by after 2003 she pretty much had no more steam/interest in US anymore for everything else following to have a chance.
- As for this song and being on-topic, the success its attained is amazing for her. Not that much of a fan of the song though (sounds very faceless and like any generic Dance song you'll ever hear in a club). I wish she had gotten a moment with some other singles in past years like "Magic" which was great imo, but nonetheless congrats to her.

“Speakerphone” was her biggest missed opportunity for a North American smash in the post-Head world. It even fucking charted upon album release on the Canadian Hot 100 based off downloads in 2007 like……… ???? 😑😑😑😑
And then to drop the album 4 months later with “All I See” as the lead single, featuring ***MIMS*** and a $8.45 video budget……….. 😑😑😑😑
Her previous labels, Parlophone & Capitol (in America) severely dropped the ball on several occasions. This is but one.
So yeah I stopped caring or expecting anything at all, clearly Kylie enjoys coming to North America from time to time for promo/touring/business and the special, different kind of fame she enjoys here. I know she loves her stans on this side of the pond, she proved that to me on October 9, 2009 💕 so anything else is just even more icing on the cake tbh!

Did she and/or her label even try that much after CGYOOMH though? I don't think ageism was at play then, they just decided there was no reason to make an effort outside of Oceania and Europe. People said that the Body Language album was more US-appealing than her previous work, but I don't think that was an intentional move, and besides Red Blooded Woman and the scrapped Ludacris version of Chocolate I don't really see it. Even if it was supposed to be more American-focused, leading off with Slow was absolutely the wrong move since it's very different from what would've worked in the US back then and even now. After that the only pop radio release she had in the US was All I See from X, a song I adore but one that sounded dated even by 2008. They got flavour of the month MIMS to feature on a remix of it, but he was no T.I. or Lil' Wayne (the actual big rappers from back then), and that song bombed too, reaching only number 55 on the Mediabase weekly charts. Since then Kylie has had no pop radio releases stateside. Get Outta My Way was released to HAC in November 2010, but that was 5 months after its promotion stateside and by then the momentum was all gone. Such a shame though, I think it could've done really well in the states considering it had surprisingly high downloads in the US for a non-single and fit right in with the club pop of the 2008-2012. After Aphrodite Kylie stopped promoting her albums stateside as much as before too besides the occasional televised performance here and there, it's only with Padam now that she has made multiple US appearances for a single specifically.

Love at First Sight was a cute US hit also, but she was pretty much done here by Body Language.” Her music is really too camp/euro/gay for the mainstream American GP.
