His 10th studio album released on May 10, 1988 by Paisley Park Records and Warner Bros. Records. It peaked at #11 on Billboard 200 and #5 Top R&B/Hip Hop album. It's been certified Gold since then. The album is, unfortunately, his least successful album since "Controversy".
Hugely underrated album. It's actually my fave from him, along with "Sign O' Times", "Purple Rain", and "1999". My fave tracks are "Glam Slam", "Alphabet St", Anna Stesia", "When 2 R In Love", "I Wish U Heaven", and "Positivity". Alphabet St. #8 Hot 100, #7 Dance, #3 R&B
Glam Slam #29 U.K.
I Wish U Heaven #24 U.K.

Ah the infamous amazing, unique, weird underrated masterpiece "Lovesexy". This album underperformed big time in the US but it went #1 in the UK and several other European territories.
The follow-up singles didn't perform well either they missed the Hot 100 all-together.
"Glam Slam" stalled at #44 on R&B and "I Wish U Heaven" peaked with the lower top 20 at #18.
I honestly never heard "Glam Slam" on the radio growing up. I do think I heard "I Wish U Heaven" every once in a blue moon but the lead single is the only one that got any real recurrent airplay.
This record is an excellent companion piece to The Black Album, and is really solid.
"Eye No" and "Dance On" are the weak links imo but they are still decent songs
Interesting fact; Prince decided at the very last minute (apparently days before it's commercial release) that "Glam Slam" wasn't the right choice and wanted it's single release canceled in favor of another song but the single had already been sent to retail. I hope the estate re-issues this with TBA in a deluxe package one of these days.
