Confirmed by Fiddle Sabre on twitter that Jelly Roll with Lainey Wilson’s Save Me is being sent to country radio. I’m unsure when it’s going for adds or what the impact date is, but it looks like it’s gonna be climbing at the same time as “Need a Favor”. I’m really liking this song, imo it was one of the standout performances of the ACM’s I think this is the first thread I’ve ever started, so if I need to edit anything, just let me know

I could definitely be wrong, but I don’t see Jelly Roll being a strong enough force to have two singles climbing at the same time. I wonder if this means the end of “Need A Favor” at country radio.

Based on the recent updates for "Need a Favor," I would say there's 0 chance of it being dropped anytime soon by radio. That song is a mega smash. If anything, "Save Me" might flounder around in the 40s or 50s not doing much until "Need a Favor" reaches its ceiling at or close to #1 (I don't see it peaking any lower than top 3 at this point, but obviously the #1 has been super competitive this year so who knows if it makes the summit when the time comes).

This will probably be a massive hit, but it already was a minor pop hit not that long ago. And honestly, I prefer the original solo version, feel like it has more soul. Adding Lainey Wilson just seems completely unnecessary. Really just wanted some other songs on the album first.

Lainey Wilson needs to be careful about overexposure. She is hitting a stride but I wonder if (because she's a woman and nothing else) that radio will start to cool off on her because of how many songs she's on.

I am all for her being ALL over the radio, and I'm not sure how to articulate this, but unless she's headed for the likes of Wallen's/Combs' relationships with radio, I worry too many features will either hurt her solo singles (Lauren Alaina style) or could overexpose her to sexist radioheads. Maybe I'm just being overcautious because I don't feel like we've seen radio latch onto a solo woman since Carrie Underwood or early Kelsea Ballerini to a lesser extent.

I think I understand your point. But in my opinion,Lainey Wilson is different from her contemporaries.(I love many of her contemporaries, pls note there is no underlying trashin') Her accent and her music style can appeal to a certain conservative listeners that normally will turn off on female country-pop artists that screams female empowerment. Apart from her music and any other factors,I think this one plays a certain part in why she was so quickly embraced by CMA and ACM. What is the right amount of exposure?I think it's a tricky question. She should be cautious about the quality of the song she's on.I mean if every song she's on is great, people love it,there will be no such thing as overexposure.

She is hitting a stride but I wonder if (because she's a woman and nothing else) that radio will start to cool off on her because of how many songs she's on. Not sure which point you’re pushing here…you think radio will cool on her “because she’s a woman and nothing else”, or “because of how many songs she’s on”? The latter I absolutely agree with and she should be careful/selective on what she features on. The difference between her and Lauren is that Lainey keeps consistently producing hit songs. She’s built a brand and has a distinct identity as an artist. Lauren never had any of those. I don’t get the female comment as she’s getting more embraced than just about any other new artist by country radio. WM is flying and rightfully so, it’s amazing. There is no need to turn this into another thread about sexism as it not only doesn’t apply here, but Lainey’s Success is proving just the opposite. If her output quality drops this next cycle AirPlay could potentially struggle, but I just don’t see it happening. She’s the real deal in all aspects

I agree she’s connecting with people the way any other woman in country music is connecting right now. I also read an article that said radio programmers are paying attention to what consumers want so I don’t think they will cool off on her just yet. We don’t know yet if her success will last a couple of years or 10 years but she’s smart in capitalizing now so that way she’s building a strong catalog to keep touring and maintaining a fan base.

I don't think there's much risk of overexposure with Lainey Wilson here. If anything, she's benefiting from being the "it" girl at country radio and it makes it easy for her success to continue to blossom because she has less competition from other women, so I'm glad to see so many other artists (especially the males of the genre) clamoring to work with her and give her even more exposure. As long as she keeps on the path she's on now, she's going to be a massive star at the format. She's showing early potential of being the biggest female in country since the trifecta of Carrie-Taylor-Miranda from the mid/late 00s.

Interesting, solo version got one add and 7 total historic adds this week.

It’s funny that one station added both versions today.

The timing of this looks good, as it’s already top 10 on Billboard. There’s enough space between this and “Thinkin’ Bout Me”, both will get multi-week turns. Really curious what the next single will be. “The Lost” has really grown on me and could work on both country and rock radio. “Church” and “Hungover in a Church Pew” would be great country singles, and “Halfway to Hell” could be the sweet spot where it garners pop interest. I really hope we get at least 4 singles this album cycle.

#1 on BB this week.
In doing so, Lainey becomes the first woman to have 2 #1 hits in the same year since Gwen Stefani in 2020 (lol), and breaks the record for the shortest gap between #1s for a woman since "Watermelon Moonshine" was at the top only 6 weeks ago. The previous title was shared by Taylor Swift ("Should've Said No" -> "Love Story") and Wynonna ("She Is His Only Need" -> "I Saw the Light") with an 11-week gap.

With the gap between this and the songs below it (Nate Smith, George Birge, Dan + Shay, Luke Bryan, Morgan Wallen), I imagine this song is gonna spend at least a few weeks at #1 at least.

If this were the published chart, it would be in 2nd place.

I hope never unless they add stations to the panel. I personally feel like if you even drive around an average amount around here and listen to the radio you hear the same few currents and couple dozen recurrents over and over again and it turns even the great songs average after a while. I know it’s much worse in other formats but if I feel this way when the top song has 65-68 plays I assume other people can relate.

Kinda surprised this one only spent 2 weeks at #1, seeing as Nate Smith took over the top spot this week. It'll probably hang around in the top 10 for quite awhile though.

Interesting this is still on Page 1 for comments just like Nate Smith. Neither song is that great, in my opinion. Maybe if they had pushed this one a week later it would have blocked Nate and be working on 8+ weeks at the top on BB. Bad timing.
