Dance music is always there unless you limit your listening habits to whatever is on the Hot 100. (And even then Ms. Dua is usually on the Hot 100 anyways) I obviously don't limit myself to trash Billboard but all the big artists putting out slow stuff is annoying. In 2014-16 it was full of club bops now it's Dua Lipa and random ballads

It's gotten a lot sadder and slower

it's that Billie Ellish trend that ruined everything.

just because they arenβt club bangers doesnβt mean they are ballads lmao Okay well ballads are more prevalent and hit records have gotten slower for sure since 2020. Idk, I really don't feel that way. A lot of uptempos from Doja, Weeknd, Dua, Lil Nas, Beyonce, Gaga, Katy, Ava Max, Lizzo, Miley, Harry, even Ed Sheeran...I mean, THE biggest hits of the decade so far are mostly synth-pop, dance or disco (Blinding Lights, As It Was, Flowers, Levitating, Stay). ofc, we don't have that many obvious EDM club bangers like Roses and I'm Good (at least in the US), but I don't think we should blame covid for that, people just moved on from the genre, even before 2020. The only thing that has become slower (IMO) is the Hot 100 chart. We have A LOT of songs with 20+ weeks in the top 10 and 52+ weeks on the chart.

So 2 in 3 years and the first one was like 7 weeks after covid started. Kinda my point is this really the hill you want to die on? Dua Lipa - Future Nostalgia Lady Gaga - Chromatica Drake - Honestly, Nevermind BeyoncΓ© - RENAISSANCE Bad Bunny - Un Verano sin Ti Doja Cat - Kiss Me More BTS - Dynamite (and Butter, if u count it as a 'hit') Lizzo - About Damn Time, 2 Be Loved Karol G & Shakira - TQG Shakira - Bizarrap Session... could really go on with the songs. and that's just what made the US charts! far from "all big artists putting out slow music" if you ask me, unless all you listen to is Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran.

I want the blue vinyl but Iβm gonna wait to hear βVampireβ before I decide to buy it. I refuse to ever buy an album without hearing at least one song beforehand.

Based on the snippets and descriptions I'm getting Happier Than Ever vibes, which would work well for her.

It starts off as a ballad, first 1:30 minute...turns into a mid-tempo and the pacing keeps increasing until the end (3:39min). The chorus is cute ``Dream Crusher, bleed me dry like a damn vampire...`` Love this.

I mean look at the Barbie soundtrack being impacted by having so many short songs between Barbie World, Speed Drive, and the upcoming Fifty Fifty x Kali (sadly not Kali Uchis) song which is reportedly clocking in around a minute and 40 seconds. Somehow PinkPantheress is not even bottom 3 in terms of shortest song lengths so far for the soundtrack and that is insane.

I slightly fell victim to enjoying the shorter songs.π But ,sometimes, it's a good thing if you catch my drift.

It works as a stylistic choice for certain songs like most PinkPantheress songs or something like claws by Charli XCX. Other songs it just makes you yearn for an extended mix (and then cry when you get stuff the extended they did for Barbie World) or just makes the song feels underbaked/unfinished.

just because they arenβt club bangers doesnβt mean they are ballads lmao Okay well ballads are more prevalent and hit records have gotten slower for sure since 2020. Iβm struggling to even think of many big hit ballads in the last couple years? Drivers License, Easy on Me, what else? If anything, hit songs got more uptempo and dance oriented since the pandemic started.
