I mentioned this in the upcoming singles thread, but since "What Ifs" Kane has yet to have a song at radio miss the top 5 including his features (sans "Worship You", which should have never gone to radio in the first place). Either this will be his first flop or Mickey's first true hit. I hope hope hope they go all out, send this to radio, and it hits big.

I want to love it more than I do. Much preferred her solo work. I don’t really see this being a big radio hit.

Might turn out performing like Danielle’s “Goodbye Summer” ft. Thomas Rhett, and make the top 40. Which I guess would still be a success for Mickey.

It is a good enough song but I do get massive "Goodbye Summer" vibes from this in germs of how well it will do. Still would be Mickey Guyton's second biggest single at radio but I don't know if I hear a huge smash here, that and I am just naturally pessimistic regardless.

if it has his teams backing/support, i'm more optimistic....but this is just a big disappointment for me. Mickey is better than this basic AF song.

This certainly isn't going down to be a tune that contends as Song of the Year or anywhere near my favorite Mickey Guyton tune, but it's a passable radio song that features one of the top 5 or so biggest males in the genre, so I am really hopeful that it'll do well for her because she deserves all the success possible. Radio isn't going to play a solo song from her at this point, so whatever it takes to get her some extra oomph is desirable, so I'll take it. Even a top 30/40 hit would be a huge get for Mickey at this stage, and help raise her consumer interest and public profile. Also, I've played it a few times so far and it's already grown on me a little from the first time I listened. She's certainly set the bar high with songs like "Better Than You Left Me" and "What Are You Gonna Tell Her?" but this is still better imo than "All American" or "Rosé," i.e.

“Take all my Friday and Saturday Nights/ Take all the things that you know that I like” LOL this is SOOOOOO lazy.

I have a hard time believing someone with such a strong output lyrically is passionate about this single. It feels like something she was told to cut versus something she heard and thought “wow I have to record this.”

This is a pass for me.

169,000 debut on Spotify, top 30 on iTunes all-genre, and top 200 AM country chart. Whether it's a good song or not, it's gonna get her her breakthrough hit which gets us another album from her, so

Yes this is definitely not her strongest but for radio I think it’s a good call, really I think this will be her final shot at radio. If this doesn’t take then focus on building her in other ways.

I also don’t hate it and it will chart because I love her voice and Kane’s. Wish it were a better song but I’ll take it till we get another album from her.

Sadly, they've tried doing that and by all accounts it has failed. If she doesn't get a radio hit to raise her profile, I'm not sure what will. Atp, she's had a ton of mainstream exposure from outside country radio and it hasn't translated to anything noteworthy in the streams/sales department. Latching onto someone like Kane Brown to help her get a hit is a smart move and if this doesn't do anything for her, I fear nothing will.

Yeah, unfortunately Mickey just hasn't connected... at all. I think that was their strategy when her album dropped, to use resources in promoting her in ways that aren't radio, because they didn't even try to push a single from it. I know UMG literally had her everywhere, all over TV, doing big interviews, hosting the ACMs, pushing her at the Grammys, giving her good playlisting, but it just hasn't translated to anything.

I do think this might be a last shot for her; and while I wish the song was a better one, I will still be rooting for this to be any type of hit. I don't think she will be dropped from her label though, as I could see that bringing some backlash, but I do think this is going to show if she will ever be able to reach a larger level of success.

I'll support whatever route she has to take to make some headway at radio. This is far from her best work but, also, not the worst song she's done. Plus the song's been out three days and already has more streams on Spotify than literally half of the songs on her album so it already seems like releasing this was a risk worth taking.
