Technically it comes out on Friday midnight for charting purpose.
Also not a local midnight release.

At least they sound more country this time, but they chose the worst one to send to the radio. This is the kind of bombastic waltz that fits Chris Stapleton more than them. I don't see good callouts for this.
Heartbreak On The Map is a typical Ernest co-wrote radio fodder, save for the vocal run near the end which imo feels out of range.
Album title track is the best because of a more restrained delivery, but the chorus melody sounds extremely familiar to me and not in a good way.

I just don’t really have interest in their new stuff anymore.
Can they just go back and make “Keeping Score” a single.

These three new songs are all better than literally anything about their output the past couple years, so that's nice. I'm still rather tired of them though and none of them blow me away by any means. They're a step in a better direction at least, and I appreciate that there's more country elements included. The use of dobro in "Bigger Houses" for instance was a nice touch.

it's too bad they refuse to try something even slightly different. Another song that'll put people to sleep a minute in.

This will debut well inside the top 40 on the Mediabase country rolling chart tomorrow. It'll at least rival the #31 debut "10,000 Hours" had on Mediabase back in October of 2019. Their highest debut on MB is still "I Should Probably Go to Bed" (#28).
Top 25 debut on Billboard Country Airplay looks like a certainty.

I really like these new songs. SMTT is reminiscent of "Speechless" in a good way, and the other 2 are both more organic and well written than anything they've put out in a while. "Bigger Houses" hit me in the feels. Feels like this could be a big era for them

Shay looks really good. Almost don’t recognize him. #glowup
I like these songs much better than what we have heard from them recently, even if some of their bad songs ended up getting stuck in my head.
I think SMTT is a big hit, personally. Bigger Houses is the best song here.

I'm in agreement with most here that this is their best release in a while (granted they set the bar low) and that "Bigger Houses" is the best song out of the three. Out of the three "Save Me the Trouble" sounds like the logical single choice.

Debuts at #29 on Mediabase. Second-highest debut of their career ("I Should Probably Go to Bed", #28 in 2020).
"Save Me the Trouble" gained over 300 spins this weekend, after the hourly debut. The reaction from country radio this weekend for this one has been off the charts.
"Heartbreak on the Map" is my personal favorite of the three and I think that's another easy radio hit for them. "Bigger Houses" is really good but doubt that's ever a single.

I'm not gonna lie, out of the three released I didn't check out "Bigger Houses" until now, but that one is a step in the right direction of what I want from them. Probably won't be a single, but I'd love it to be.

Between the adds date and the MB debut, it seems like they're bouncing back hard with this release @ country radio after a few years of middling returns. Feels similar to the early response to Old Dominion's "Memory Lane" this year as well following a few singles that waffled.

Finally gave this a listen, and tbh this is a major improvement for them!! Even though it is yet another pop-leaning power ballad, there is something about the way this one is mixed that just helps it to sound quite fresh to my ears! I think it's something about the vocal mix turning the lead vocals down a bit while cranking the harmony lines way up. It gives me major group vibes, like maybe something Diamond Rio might have given us.
But also, the steel guitar!! This song is probably the most steel-heavy song they have ever given us, and it sounds SO good when you focus on that! The steel complements the melody so well
This is probably the first single of theirs that I would give an A since "Summer of 19 (You + Me)". (Even then it's more of an A-. But that's exemplary for them!!)

Color me STUNNED by these three songs. “Save Me the Trouble” doesn’t stray too far from their typical bland fare (which is why this is likely not one I’d revisit, but we’ll have to see), but something about it that bboat11 pinpointed more precisely than I probably could’ve makes it feel fresh somehow. Certainly not a bad song by any means. The other two however……WOW. “Heartbreak on the Map” is stone-cold country music, the type of creative storytelling that I think would make the legends proud. And that key change?!?! That one’s easily my favorite of these three. And then there’s “Bigger Houses,” which is another true-blue country song, the countriest of the three. I like the rhythm in the lyrics to this one, and Dan (or is it Shay? I have no idea lmao, I haven’t been that deep of a fan) has a voice that strikes as a mix between Carrie Underwood and Gary LeVox of Rascal Flatts, especially in the chorus. I really love the vibe of this one. This is their best music in years; since “Keeping Score” (their biggest missed opportunity of a single). I’m thoroughly impressed, and for the first time ever, I’m intrigued by these men. Can’t wait to hear the upcoming album, and glad to hear for their sake that SMTT is off to such a strong start at country radio after the last five years of dwindling returns. They were almost set to break up as a duo around the release of their last album, and I have a hunch that it was radio’s increasingly declining interest in them. They must’ve listened, because from these three songs, this album sounds like a step in the right direction. Hopefully SMTT can prove to be a rebound for them in a big way and show them that they can still be a powerhouse, so long as they don’t waste their immense talents on material that’s far beneath them.

The song they’re releasing next called “Always Gonna Be” sounds like a future hit!

Great early callout (#12) according to MMI and given this is the lead single, this should be a #1 for them.

I would be shocked if this gets number one this week over Nate Smith. Just like most of their music I don’t care for this but it is better than “You” at least.
