So Meltdown needs a little over 40m streams for #1. Definitely plausible. Like I predicted radio will drop hard for Last Night after peaking, preventing it from 20 weeks.

I’ll echo the other mods here. Most of y’all don’t know me, but I am the last person to tell people to chill because I’m lazy and don’t want to do the dirty part of my mod job. This discussion has moved away from reasonable debate about political influence and into something else entirely. Please be respectful. That goes for everyone. I truly thought Astroworld concert in was going to be a career killer for him, intresting to say the least. It should have been. The hypocrisy of some of you in this thread is showing ... and it's not cute. I'd think having a part in the killing of 10 people is one of the worse things. But apparently, many people wouldn't agree. I love you, but you’re generalizing here. Just like there are people upset at this song, there are plenty of people who obviously are not. Likewise, there were plenty of people who wrote Scott off after Atroworld. People were calling the concert “Satanic” unironically, lol. Just like Aldean, there are people who will continue to support him too. Regardless, I haven’t seen anyone in this thread defending Travis Scott either and the first time he was brought up at length was to discuss how much of a tragedy that incident was. A lot of posts in this thread have been shortsighted (and that’s being generous), but I didn’t see anyone being particularly kind to him. I truly thought Astroworld concert in was going to be a career killer for him, intresting to say the least. No doubts about Post anymore, his time as a top artist is unfortunately done but he sure made the most of it. it's weird. Travis gets to recover his career after causingt the deaths of 8 ppl, but Brandy's career was ended by her car accident Black women got next to no grace until the 2010s. It’s still an issue today, but to a much lesser extent thankfully.

Looks like 2 artists’ careers that blew up in 2017 are in jeopardy.

Interesting how fast people have forgiven Travis even though he's shown no signs of remorse. What Morgan Wallen did wasn't anywhere near as bad as Travis, and he's actually shown signs of remorse, yet stan twitter and Pulse (to much lesser extent) despise him. Then there's Cardi B who drugged men and stole their money (1000x worse than Morgan), yet absolutely no one cared after a couple weeks. Nicki Minaj is terrible too but everyone is okay with her having a career. What's the reason for this hypocrisy? It seems that in the Astroworld situation, his fans and many others just didn't want to acknowledge how this ended up and so they don't even have to forget anything. I realize that Jack may be one of the most creative popular performers right now. But when society ignores events like this, it's odd to hope to turn someone off for doing something stupid, even in incidents like Jason Aldean's.

Is Cardi B fading away? Maybe it's because she just doesn't put out albums.

It was just a busy release week. It’s easy to get lost in the shuffle with an album bomb happening from another prominent artist in your genre.

Early Billboard Hot 100 predictions from @talkofthecharts:
#1. (+1) Last Night #2. (NEW) Meltdown #3. (=) Fast Car #4. (NEW) Fe!n #5. (NEW) Hyaena #6. (NEW) Thank God #7. (-2) Fukumean #8. (-1) Cruel Summer #9. (-1) K-Pop #10. (-1) Barbie World
Meltdown appears to have very low digital sales and airplay. It'd need 40 million streams to get 290 points to be #1. "Last Night" is falling fast on radio, so it'd likely drop down to 280 points for week of 8/12. Looks like this is one of those "weaker" weeks where 280-290 points is enough to be #1.

They have to drop a MV for Modern Jam so that Teezo Touchdown gets that #1

Maybe they don't always want to rely on Drake, but I'm sure they knew it would probably be big, so maybe they'll soon make that the next single Also, I'm wondering what's behind the reasoning of Travis not listing any of the featured artists on his tracks? Has he always done this?

Has he always done this? Travis has done this on his albums since Birds In The Trap. Astroworld just made this strategy work because of its massive success so why not repeat it again, especially when its more normalized now to hide features on some big names’ projects.

Real radio decreases, multiple songs above it on Spotify and AM, multiple songs coming for the throne…. Were in the endgame of Last Night y’all. We can almost close this chapter of the book. Emphasis on the almost.

Meltdown, FE!N, Hyaena and Topia Twins to debut in the top 10?

The way Post Malone's career crashed down needs some sort of study I do feel like Post is doing the right move. He would never be fully embraced by the rap community, so by going more AA-pop he's opening himself up to fully capitalising on an audience that already likes him. I feel like he want to become the 2010's-2020's Maroon 5/Imagine Dragons but with better music

Meltdown, FE!N, Hyaena and Topia Twins to debut in the top 10? They’ll probably make there atp. The best case scenario for Travis is where I Know and Thank God debut there too and Kpop is able to hold, but I doubt that’s happening.

The way Post Malone's career crashed down needs some sort of study I wouldn't really say it's some grand or big implosion the same way Iggy or DaBaby had. He had a strong run of dominant chart presence and is now struggling to make consistent hits but he's also still having good numbers from a fanbase. Even Cyndi Lauper followed a similar arc

It's hard to really know for sure, but I could see Post Malone being in the charts a long time, I don't think he'll go completely into obscurity.

Why is Taylor Swift - I knew you were trouble getting radio increases in kworb? Lol Is it just because of nostalgia plays and radio stations switched to TV and therefore comes up as a new song on the updates?

Post Malone had a run of massive commercial success from 2017-2020. That's a long time for most artists.
This is why people look crazy when they set unrealistic expectations for artists like Drake and T. Swizzle who have not only remained consistent with new music but have been dominating the mainstream marketplace for the better part of two decades now. They're the exception to the rule. The rule is that most mainstream careers are done in 3-5 years. Any longer than that and you're in rare company.
Post Malone will be fine even if he never scores another hit record. He can keep playing amphitheatres/arenas for the rest of his career to earn money.
