I am annoyed. Very annoyed. I heard Try That In A Small Town the other day and I immediately loved the sound and for me it was the best sounding song from Jason Aldean in a long time, it was so fun and catchy right away.
Then I found out the lyrics.
Now I am annoyed. THIS ALWAYS HAPPENS!!
WHY DO THEY MAKE THE WORST SONGS SOUND SO GOOD THAT YOU FEEL PISSED OFF LIKING THEM!!
I had the same reaction to Am I The Only One. They made the sound so great and pleasant but then everything else about the lyrics was bad.
It makes me feel bad to like them.
Why can't the bad lyrically songs be more boring and annoying so I can easily hate them without feeling ashamed to say I like them because of how amazing everything that is not the lyrics sound...

I mean, for these kind of ultra-conservative songs it's probably the intention for the instrumental and vocal delivery to be relatively unthreatening so the message can be snuck past a lowest-common-denominator listener more easily.
Personally it's pretty simple for me to not get drawn in by tricks like that, though, since I've developed higher standards for what "sounds good" ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I don't think I'm even being arrogant here; it's an observable fact that a lot of people are very accepting of whatever music the industry wants them to like.

^ Totally agreed with the above comment. I'd also add that the goal of an artist is always to get their song's message to resonate with a large audience, regardless of how positive or negative the lyrics are. No artist is ever going to say "Wow, this message I'm putting out into the world sure is terrible. Let me give it some equally crappy production to match!" lol.

well imo ttiast was already bad before i even noticed or paid any attention to the lyrics mainly bc musically it sounds like burnin it down again and burnin it down is about as sexy as, idk, a soggy piece of toilet paper? lol

Lol literally WHAT did I just read. The melody of "Try That in a Small Town" is quite easily worse than the lyrics. How can anyone listen to that and come away thinking it's some kind of fun and catchy bop, even if you somehow ignored the lyrics?

regards to Aldean...it sounds like bro-country track and perhaps you enjoy that sound *Don't mention that anywhere online. You are supposed to hate bro-country!* (I do like the electric guitar sound on that track).
Lewis....IDK his vocals are always more suited to more Staind sounding songs... e.g. either heavy guitar of less steely acoustic guitars.
